Why is iMessage not in sync with iPhone 4?

I was using the iMessage beta on OSX 10.7 for my iMAC (21.5-inch: 2.5GHz) with no issues and then upgraded to Mountain Lion. My iMessages on my MAC is no longer in sync with the Messages in my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1), (all messages are sent from my iPhone). Messages is always up to date on my iPhone but the only messages that show on my iMAC are the ones before the Mountain Lion upgrade. Any ideas?

Hi,
That is correct.
Those iMessages sent from the Apple ID using Messages on an iOS device or a Mac should sync across all those devices.
For instance I send a set of Pics from my Mac to my Apple ID so it goes to my iPhone will also show those Sync'ed back as "received" by the same Apple ID

It did seem in the Messages beta that you had to clear all existing Messages off the iOS device before it would sync to the Apple ID.
(As if the Messages app on the iPhone and the Messages app on the Mac were "Starting" from the "same place").
There have been suggestions that getting the iPhone to make a break with the server such as switching the iPhone Off then On again will allow it to Sync all exiting Messages when it reconnects.
The iPhone does need to be set to the Apple ID for the iMessages it sends to sync tgo the Mac or any other iOS device.

  • Why does iMessage not work on my iPhone but it works on my iPad?

I am using an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1.1 and an iPad 1 with the same iOS version. I am traveling abroad so I am running in Airplane mode on WiFi on both. I have been using iMessage to keep in touch back home until two weeks ago it became almost useless on my iPhone. iMessage continues to work perfectly on my iPad. The settings are nearly identical minus my cellphone number not included in my iPad. I find that I have to close out of messages, double tap home, press and hold the messages app, and then close it for it to work intermittently. I have exhausted all of my ideas and can not find anyone with the same problem. I have restarted my iPhone several times. I have reset my iPhones settings. I have reset my iPhone entirely. None of these seemed to work. Any ideas?

Many are experiencing this issue right now.  A phone reset or going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings resolves the issue.

  • Itunes not completing sync with Iphone 4! Help!!!

Have an HP laptop running Windows 7. Using Itunes to sync Iphone 4.
Last week I connected the Iphone 4 to computer and Itunes updated my phone to IOS 4.3.5.
After the update to the Iphone 4, Itunes started syncing with my phone. Now, it gets to step 5 and says 'optimizing 44 of 46' then I get the message 'Itunes has stopped working'. I have uninstalled Itunes and Quicktime and am still getting the same problem.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you!

OK, Doughboy, i didn't get much help on here, but I may have found a solution!
IF you are having the same situation I've been having, then this should work, it did for me.
I had my Iphone 4 updated current and Itunes was the latest version. BUT when I plugged in my Iphone to sync it with Itunes, it got all the way to step 5 of 5 and, during 'Optimizing', Itunes stopped working.
Here's what I did: The first thing is to copy your current pictures to a new folder on your computer. If they are in Libraries>Pictures>MyPictures, create a new folder (I named it Pictures 2, so it was now located in Libraries>Pictures>Pictures 2). Then copy the pics to the new folder.
I then plugged in Iphone 4 to my computer. Itunes starts up automatically. When my Iphone shows up on the left side of Itunes, i clicked on it and then clicked on the photos tab in the upper right area. Uncheck the 'Sync photos from' box, then check the 'Sync photos from' box again and then clicked on the drop down box to the right of 'Sync Photos from' and clicked on 'choose folder'. I then selected the new pictures folder (in my case 'pictures 2'). Then you click 'apply' in the bottom right corner, then 'sync'. It worked perfectly for me!!! Good luck!!!

  • Why does iMessage not recognize all other iPhones?

I have an iPhone 4S and when I try to send an iMessage to a another person with an iPhone [not sure which model but it is a little older] it will not let me.  It says "XYZ is not available for iMessage."  I know for a fact that I have the phone number correct and even have the Apple ID the other user has registed with apple entered and still no dice.  Any help would be appreciated.

    rry4 wrote:
I am not sure, but I am assuming the if answer to all of those questions is yes then iMessage would work, correct?
Yep, and if the answer is no to any of those questions, it won't work.

  • Why does iMessage not work on my iPhone yet it works on my iPad?

For some reason I can't send iMessages on my iPhone yet I can send them fine on my iPad. Both have been set up using the same iCloud and iTunes accounts so I don't understand why this is happening. I have checked that iMessage has been activated on my iPhone and it is running iOS 7.0.2. There are no error messages, it just shows 'sending' but doesn't actually send it. But if I send the message on my iPad it sends straight away and updates on my iPhone. Anyone got any ideas?

IPhone has 4.1 and just updated to ITunes 10.0.1 yesterday. It appears to be trying to sync, but it is will not go past step 1, Backing Up. I can still move around in ITunes, but it will lock up if I try to quit or stop syncing. It has been trying to sync for about 2 hours so far.

Nevermind, tried a different cable and it started working. There is no visible signed of damage on the cable and very odd timing on when it failed.

  • Mtl_system_items_b not in sync with mtl_system_items_TL

    Hi,
Can anyone tell why there are more system_item tables and why they are not in sync with each other?
We have a problem with the picking slip in order management, the picking slip is getting the item description from the mtl_system_items_b table.
For many items this description is incorrect when we look at the inventory items description, that is stored in the mtl_system_items_TL table.
How does the mtl_system_items_b table get updated?
How to sync with the system_items_TL table?
At this moment these tables are showing the correct description:
    - mtl_system_items_fvl
    - mtl_system_items_TL
    - mtl_system_items_vl
    Thanks,

Why is iMessage not syncing between iPad  & iPhone? Thought they were in real time between devices?

  • Photos uploaded through icloud control panel are only synced with iphone but not with ipad

Photos which are uploaded through icloud control panel are only synced with iPhone but not with iPad. Photos taken with iPhone or iPad are synced with all devices. So, why I do not get the uploaded photos from my pc to iPad? I alredy disabled photo stream on all devices - same failure

If only one device is not getting updated data, you need to troubleshoot that device and not photostream itself.
Verify that ipad is connected to wifi, charged over 20 percent, camera app is closed and take a photo of the screen (or anything else, but then close that camera app).
Open photostream folder on that ipad and see if picture shows up. If you network is good, should not take long.
Don't forget that while your phone can use wifi and cellular (even it suppose to use wifi for photostream, cellular networks got much better since original photostream was implemented) - you ipad is probably wifi only.
If picture shows up - you ipad and photostream have no problems and you can go to other devices one by one.

  • Issue with Calendar not syncing with iPhone 3g

Issue with Calendar not syncing with iPhone 3g.
    Solution
Create backup of your entire mailbox before starting (THIS IS IMPORTANT)
Create offline folder (.pst file) Check windows help on how to do this for your version.
    Open folders view on Outlook
Right click on Calendar in tree view and 'copy to' offline .pst folder
Go back to main calendar view and delete all entries in your calendar.
Create simple cal entry and sync test with iphone
If this works then start dragging cal entries back from the offline folder into the main calendar then sync after each step....
I moved events in this order
    -Yearly recurrences (ie Birthdays)
    - Monthly recurrences
    - weekly recurrences
    - Daily recurrences
All appointments from the beginning of this year >> to the end of time!
If all these sync then the issue is with an older cal item and you have to decide if you actually need these in you current calendar.
I chose to leave these in the offline cal and if i need access them from there.
If at any point the sync fails then you know you have a corrupt cal entry in the block you just transferred. Move the offending items back into the offline folder and try again in smaller chunks until you identify the offending items and delete them and manually recreate them in your real calendar.
Also smart to run the inbox (.pst /.ost ) repair tools for your OS/Outlook version.
    Fixed so far
    XP Pro / Outlook 2008
    XP Pro /Outlook 2003

I just updated the firmware to iPhone 2.0.1 and the syncing works great both ways.

  • Outlook Notes 2003 in XP not syncing with iPhone 4 - One Solution

Hi I upgraded from Nokia to iPhone4 last Friday and spent all Saturday and Sunday morning struggling to get my important Outlook Notes to sync with the iPhone. Contacts,Calendar, E-mail Accs + Bookmarks all synced properly but not the Notes. I had used scanpst.exe to check my .pst file and removed blank Notes etc and many other things that have been mentioned on this Forum and elsewhere, but all failed. On Sunday pm I phoned Apple and a very helpful Rory spent almost 2 hours going through everything, including my uploading 3 data files, for later investigation but all failed.
However one item of success was when I created a new User Account, and starting Outlook from scratch did manage to sync sample Notes OK. I then carried on by myself and copied my .pst file to this new user account, but again it failed.
I then reckoned that the problem was with the .pst file and not Apple software, so I investigated the .pst file further. I, and many of the other users who have had a problem with Outlook Notes, may have been using Outlook for a long time. Myself from 1999 and I have annual archives of my .pst files for each year as I archive all the data annually, and carry on with the same .pst file.
When I checked it's properties I found my .pst file was in 1997-2002 Format, so as Apple says they only support from XP 2003 and a new file did work I then made myself a new .pst file and copied all the data to it. Calendar was the most difficult, but that was solved by Outlook forums and the end result was that the Notes and everything else then synced properly.
When I returned to my Office on Monday - I use Outlook 2007 there - and I repeated the procedure on my Office .pst, which is different, but I sync Notes, in 2007 I had to delete my mail profile first as my new.pst file was originally created in the 1997-2002 format, but with a new Mail profile it all worked properly.
This solution worked for me and maybe the reason many other avid Outlook Note users may have had issues....
