why is my iMovie 09 always so slow?
it takes forEVER to upload!
i tried uploading it to iTunes but it said 2 hours remaining.
after two hour it skipped back to 2 hours remaining and then went up very fast.
then error 05 or something popped up and it said it failed
i love iMovie 09, but i REALLLLLLLY HATE WHEN IT TAKES SO LONG!
is there ANYTHING i can do 2 fix it?

Intel or G5? should be Intel.. your discription sounds like PPC..
free disk space on INTERNAl drive? (if partitioned: MacOs portion)
length of project?
'sort' of imports? (camcorder? what kind? or 'other sources'?)
any other 'computation time eating' tasks switched off? esp. FileVault or an indexing Spotlight?

I just would like to know if iMovie 9 is always so slow to start, or if it's just me?
What I mean is that when I launch iMovie, it takes about 5 minutes for it to load videos from iPhoto into the event library. Only after it does that, then I can actually do anything.
Just for info, I have about 3,500 photos plus 60 AVI little movies in my iphoto library. I have plenty of space on my hard drive and my memory is 4 GB.

Events take up lot of space and time to load especially something with that number of images.
If you have finished with projects and events, move them elsewhere so they don't have to be loaded every time you start iMovie.
I just archived all of my projects and events that I have finished with and now my iMovie starts in seconds. -
Why is job always slow in execution ?
can somebody tell what powershell commandlet "stop-scdwjob" exactly does. does it pause the execution of job at a module or uses check pointing of workflows so that execution is resumed always from the last step.
2ndly the environment of execution of workflows is very nice, but why are these jobs unnecessarily slow. Is it restricted at some CPU threshold or disk ? because i always notice these ETL jobs to continue to run for very long before completing. Even
though during the course the execution neither CPU or disk is high in utilization ????

Why are iMovie events (2400 of them) shown in the iDVD movies pane along with my iMovie projects (12 of them)?
Sorry about the delay in responding, I've been putting up with a very slow iDVD, but now I'm fed up with it again. My version of iDVD is 7.1.2 (1158) running in Mac OS X, version 10.6.8, with 3.2GHz and i3 processor, 4GB of memory, on a desktop iMac. My version of iMovie'11 is 9.0.4 (1634).
I can stop iDVD from showing iMovie EVENTS (now 3247 of them) in its Media pane under Movies, by moving the iMovie Events folder from the iMovie folder ( that iDVD ALWAYS looks in) to somewhere else in that Directory (where I store all my data, and which I have named "browning"). But then iMovie can't display the EVENTS, because it is looking in the wrong place. So, how can I save iMovie Events in another folder (not iMovies) but somewhere where iMovie will find them?
Is there a method to change the default folders for iMovie and/or iDVD? How does iMovie know where the iMovie default directory is?
Should I put iMovie into the "Main" Mackintosh HD directory?
The Apple Store in Bath, UK, couldn't help, but surely I'm not the only iDVD user who is annoyed with this process?

This was diagnosed as a fault on the line and fixed by BT engineers.
(I used to get a speed of between 512 to 750kbs)

Go to Solution.yeah cheers, i phoned everyday for a week asking for an ip profile reset, i have an adsl faceplate fitted so no need for master socket stuff, i have disconnected the hub phone, physically and removed it from the router, up stream is always 448 down stream is up and down like an up and down thing, normally hovers around 1000ish but crashes to 160kbps in the mornings or just doesnt sync at all when the phone is in use. after the last fix by bt, downstream sync was a dizzy 2mbps. best i can expect here though is 750kbps or there abouts. ive been trying to get bt to do something lasting for me since last october. so far 2 things worked for me, a fixed rate of 500kbps.. but bt removed it, dunno why. then some change they made that meant my ip profile went down as normal but recovered in an hour or two. thats the fix that gave me the 2mb downstream sync rate. now its back to snafu and proper stuck at 135kbps, the phone is noisy as hell with the bb plugged in but fine without it. if i were a bt techy person, i would soak test the line for a few days, identify that there is a pretty bad problem, then fault find down the line till i found the dodgy stretch of wiring, then replace it, all of it if thats what it took. but im not a bt techy so i just have to put up with this, the forum is my venting place, it doesnt achieve anything but it helps me control the rage that my bt customer experience brings me.

Not only has it taken me ABSOLUTELY AGES to register on this forum because the Nokia Support website is so appalling (the register button hasn’t been working for most of the last hour… a clever move by Nokia as it’s the best way to reduce complaints), but my E71 is the worst phone I’ve ever used. I am close to getting a sledge-hammer and really letting the handset know what I think of it. Why is my phone SOOOOO SLOW? It’s absolutely appalling. I was given an E71 for work purposes several months ago and avoided using it until recently as my personal phone (an iPhone) is simply superb. However, I am now doing a lot of foreign travel with work and therefore need to utilise my company’s mobile tariff which means me using the Nokia device. The problem is the E71 is UNUSABLE as from time to time (and there’s no telling when it will decide to work like this), it decides to go into go-slow mode when it take between 30 seconds and 5 minutes for the device to respond to a single key press. What do I do about that? There are so many little graphics on the screen and endless menu options that I have no idea what the problem is and how I adjust the settings to improve its performance. And as I said, it tends to be a little random as to when it goes slow, although it’s normally 90% of the time I use it. Before I have a nervous breakdown please can someone help me figure out how to use it? Thanks in advance.

Message Edited by michaels on 27-Jul-2009 01:53 PMI did a hard format *#7370# on my E90 - was hoping to get to the source of my constant auto shutdowns. And, of course, after a while, 28-33MB on the C: drive is a bit low. It's now on 122MB (out of 133MB). Works much better.
When you install apps, always choose the memory card E: - where you have a choice.
Also, install docs, images and music files to the memory card.
On the Ovi Store/(Account) Settings, select Memory Card for installation.
Do the same for contacts and messages.
I see you where complaining about login in here. I had the same problem, couldn't login yesterday - login no longer valid. It's working now. Keep in mind that if you joined Nokia Discussions - or any other user-based forum just to complain - not attempt to find a solution - you have already failed.
In concluding, I narrowed done the possible causes of my auto shutdowns to my battery, and SIM card. While typing this, my phone went off twice, so I removed the SIM, typed this on a note, offline mode. Also noted that the same subscriber identity module (32k, about 6 years old) caused the first shutdown of my N70 that I can remember, this morning.
So check your SIM. The network is the problem.

Why is my MacBook Pro slow? Beach ball
Boy, I was looking at a discussion of this from TODAY, about a half hour ago, and now can't find it.
"Why is my MacBook Pro slow?" brings "screen tearing issue" and other things not related to my problem.
I got and ran Easyfind, and got rid of MacKeeper.
What else do I need to do?
I have the beach ball way too often.
I just made an iMovie, but optimizing it for YouTube is impossible. Boxes keep getting grayed out; complete hangup.
Can easyfind help further?

Kim Komando said get Sophos, so I did. I see it found something called Bredo-K on Nov. 22.
It's now scanning my OVER 5 MILLION FILES. Seriously, I don't think I need that many.
Right now about 50% of CPU idle,
about 1.03 GB Ram free.
Sophos is using about 90% of whatever.
This scanning could take all weekend. I need to get rid of some stuff. Hard to know what, though.

If you have less than 4 GB of memory (not 8 GB) as shown in the About This Mac window, Yosemite won't perform well. Otherwise, see below.
When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Why is my internet so slow on my iPod Touch?
Okay, I'm very irritated by the performance of my Ipod Touch generation 4's internet browsing. I don't know what the problem is! I'm currently using my home wireless internet, and it's very strong (According to the wi-fi icon on the top of the computer desktop, it's at its highest potential, and we have a strong internet connection.) Which brings me to my next question, why is my Ipod Touch sooo slow? It's been happening for more than 2 months now, and I can't access Pandora, Facebook, Safari..nothing! The quality is getting really bad! And whats really aggravating about this WHOLE thing, is the fact that I take good care of my itouch! And I know this because, whenever i want to slam it on the wall, or crack it in half, or give any harmful gesture to my ipod, i RESTRAIN myself and wait when the "loading" sign is taking a little too long, or when the pop up sign comes out and declares it's not working. I try my BEST to be paitent with my ipod touch, and yet my internet is not showing any gratitude. Right now, I'm so frustrated and I just want to know... WHY!!!

I created a project a few months ago, and iMovie worked as it always had. I would create a project, add a background song, then add photos to fill up the song.
When I created a project today, I added the background song (4m9s), then added a single photo, and the background song length was shortened to 6 seconds. I have never seen the app work this way. I know I can extend the photo to the length of the background song, but it used to be so much easier to add photos and sync them with the music as I desi

Thoughts?When I've added photos to a project they are added to a default time to appear. Honestly I've never looked at the time but 6 seconds sounds close. I'm guessing that since you added the photo after you add the music that its thinking you want the two to match in time length so it tunicates the music. Try adding the photo first then add the music. Good luck!

Hello. Crash Reporter from my MacBook Pro with a cable modem has always been very slow to report crashes after I push the Close Firefox button -- often it takes five minutes or more to complete. I fear that I often don't have time to wait or doubt that the tool and server are "working," so I close the tool.
That means I have maybe 20 to 30 pending reports.
Lately many are related to startup, so they could be worthwhile.

When i Boot up, why is "Preview" always open ?
Hi, i know i dont need to do it, but when i shut down, i have been making sure that all the Programs i have been using are Shut Down, getting rid of the white dots in the Dock.
I know that Finder is always there and cannot be Shut Down, but i Shut Down "Preview" and it is always opened up again when i Start my Lap Top up again.
I guess it isnt that important to know, but why does PREVIEW always OPEN automatically when i Boot Up ?.

Why does Firefox always block any link I try to open going to a web page when I don't have pop up blocker on? First off they are not even pop ups....your crap blocks everything and don't save user names &/or passwords when you have it checked. Also in your tutorials about solving this issue says it has the word "OPTION" .......no, it never says option to allow you to bypass it and etc. Only thing is says is "ALLOW" . That would be nice , but the problem is it will not allow it from then on. It only allows it right then and then you have to refresh...after that to open again it blocks it again.....HOW STUPID?!!!!!
