Why is imported video in 39 folders and hundreds of thumbnails!?

I have version 8.0.6 and just imported a movie from my DV camera which I had previously edited then exported back to the camera. It is 55 minutes long. Instead of importing the movie into one folder in its entirety, it imported it in 39 folders with hundreds of dv clips and each tiny clip is anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds long. I imported the clips from just one folder into iMovie and it took forever. Anyone know why this happened and how to correct it?

Glad your problem is solved but I still would like to respond.
Hitting the cmd+E key in Bridge is the command for eject and that is exactly what happened, Bridge (that is more like a browser for your files) ejected (or better, unmounted) the hard drive from your system and so you were not able to see it any more.
But you are also right that shortcuts can be tricky when they use different functions in different apps that are made by the same vendor. You could also send a Feature Request for this, you are not the first but the more that are asking for this the better it will be :-)
Further on I get the impression that you don't have a back up of your files? This is really necessary because there are a lot things that can happen using accidently keys or failing hard drives or you name it.

Import videos from iMac folders into iPhoto

I have a large library of personal photos and videos on my iMac, organized in various folders and subfolders. I have tried multiple times to import all of these photos and videos to iPhoto, however, each time I get an error message indicating that the videos would not import. The photos import without a problem. Since most of these videos were taken with my iPhone(s), this isn't an issue of compatibility. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I want to use a retro TV screen as a mask for an imported video. It works and previews correctly in iBooks Author but not when previewed on my iPad. Any workarounds or suggestions welcome.

I've been trying to give my imported videos a new spin by using the screen on a retro TV image to play the video on. I've masked the screen in Photoshop, saved it as a transparent .png and placed it onto the page. I then place the video, size it to fit the screen, send it to the back and, as if by magic, the video appears to play on the TV. However, as soon as I preview the book and go to view it on my ipad, the video is back in front of the TV and the illusion is lost.
Is there any way around this or am I going to have to make all my TV screens the same rectangular shape as the video? Also, is there any way I can stop the video being played full screen? Some of my videos are over 50 years old and the quality is pretty poor at full screen.

Don't rely on 'Preview'.
Share/Export as .ibooks file and then drag that to iTunes and sync to your iPad.
Still no joy, find a pre-processing recipe ( that includes export for iPad) that doesn't spoil the quality in the process.
Just keep in mind that low quality in means low or lower quality out, in this example.

Why is Import Video greyed out for a new Flash project?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to load any MP4 (H.264 encoding), FLV, or F4V files into a brand new project. I've tried importing FLV and F4V files via the Import to Library and Import to Stage menu choices but all result in "One or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them" error message. I just downloaded Flash CC today (Feb 23, 2014) and cannot even get started on my project since I cannot seem to load a video into the library or stage. I've looked at the tutorials, but they assume that I can choose the greyed out Import Video... menu choice. Searching the discussion didn't help me as most of the discussions are off-topic or from 2 or more years back.

Thank you sinious. I had QT 7.5.5 installed. The problem was unrelated. Like a bufoon, I created a new HTML5 canvas, which is unable to import videos. When I switched to a AS3 canvas all was as it should be. And there was rejoicing throughout the land! Case closed.

IMovie 10.0.4 imported video clips are blank and green?

I've imported video clips successfully from a VHS player & from a few DVD's to iMovie 10.0.4. However, the most recent DVD I've wanted to import doesn't work. The original DVD is in UDF format. I converted it to MP4.4 format, and the first time I played it in iMovie, it worked fine. But the second time I played it, the whole clip was super jittery like it was skipping every 0.5 seconds. Then the third time I played it, the clip was just a blank green screen. I've tried using the most recent version of HandBreak to convert the DVD to a different format that supposedly iMovie can read, but the same thing happens when it's imported into iMovie - just a blank green clip. What am I doing wrong?? Thanks all.

Same issue I've seen. I have a Sony DCR-TRV30. Had 40 tapes to transfer to iMovie 10.0.6. Had no issue on first 16 tapes then all the sudden I experienced the audio/video timing issue. Video looks good when it is getting imported, audio/video in sync on camera and in preview window on iMovie while importing. Tape finishes and you start to watch import when beginning of tape is in sync and by end it is several seconds out of sync. Tried deleting and installing iMovie again and that didn't help.

Why is imported video from 2009 moving to new year after restarting Imovie?

We have successfully imported video from 2009 in a series of events; all seems to be working fine until we close out of imovie and return -- and then the events have moved to a new year (2011). When we click on the event that has moved to 2011, we get the message "no matching video". The video is on the hard drive; I tried to use "import video", but it is not recognized. This isn't happening systematically - just some clips from the same miniDV tape. Any ideas? thanks!

Import non-Mail mailbox folders and subfolders

I have, for may years, used another email system in which I have defined a heirarchy of many folders and sub-folders. Is there any way to import these folders and subfolders into Mail?

PSE5 organizer tracking deleted and renamed folders and removing orphan thumbnails

If files are deleted or renamed within a folder that's being watched by organizer, the changes made through explorer or any other program don't seem to ever get reflected in Organizer. For example, I deleted an entire folder of junk photos through Windows. They still show in Organizer. How do I tell Organizer to re-scan the folder and remove orphan thumbnails from the catalog? The only thing I've been able to do at this point is to highlight them all and delete them. That's not bad for a single folder, but is a pain when I've done a lot of renaming, reorganizing, and creation and deletion of folders and subfolders under the watched folder.
I've used a program called Thumbs Plus for years, and it has an option "remove orphans" that you can do globally, or on a folder and its subfolders. I'm wondering if there's something similar in PSE.

Yes, I realize that in an "ideal" world we could do absolutely all of our organizing in "organizer" but I just can't see that becoming a reality. We have different users on this computer and there are certainly going to be times when we're already working in another program, including Windows Explorer. One would think that if Organizer is monitoring a folder it would detect all changes, or at least have a manual "rescan folder" or "remove option of some sort to help get the real files back in sync with the catalog. Hmmm. I'm still using eval mode and not sure that I like this part! Perhaps the next version will do better in this regard.

Why is imported video black and white

When I imported a video into Motion 5 it appeared in color in the layers list, but black and white on the canvas.

Importing Video Files from DVD and the net onto final cut express 4

2 questions:
1st: Ive imported a video file downloaded from the net to practice editing, but once I have done that, the video file has no audio? how do I get the audio for those files?
2nd: I had ripped some video files from my university film project onto my laptop, but I cant Import the files into final cut express to further edit it (because it was a group project), because its the wrong format and stuff. How do I fix this and allow it to be imported?

Most likely the file is multiplexed. That means the audio and video are rolled into one. Same thing applies as the other post, the file needs to be in a format that FCE recognizes. Streamclip may do it, depending on the type of file of course.

Importing videos aren't previewing and only show white in timeline

I just started a trial of premiere pro. Every time I import a video though it doesn't have a preview. It's just white. It does this on the cursor preview and and when I place it in the timeline.

Whenever I'm trying to import videos into Image Capture and iPhoto, it doesn't allow me to?

I've been trying to do this for about an hour now. And it keeps on bailing on me!! I'm super stressed right now and I'm about to rip out my hair.
It keeps on importing my images sure fine, but whenever I try to import a video (all of my images are about a minute, three to four minutes and one close to ten minutes) it says there something wrong with it and it can't import! Grrrr!

Unfortunately, I don't have an iPod, so I'm not familiar with how it works. However, have you tried syncing it - does it wind up in iTunes?
As for iPhoto, you should be able to copy or export the files to whatever location you want: your Documents folder or your desktop for instance. If you have them in iMovie, you will need to work on your project there (iMovie is a video editor, not a filing system or player) and then export/share it. If you export it, you can save it to any location you want as well.

"Why Has The Video In My Timeline (and Canvas) Turned Green"

I've been sailing along with editing a new video in FCE but tonight a strange glitch has occurred at the 23.09 point through the 23.57 point. The video footage goes to a green screen, although the audio is still registering. I tried deleting the clips (which play normally in the browser) and reinserting them and it comes up the same. Also, if I just try leaving the clips out, the green continues in the other clips that have moved into this part of the timeline. I've been editing on a G5 Dual 2GhZ Power PC and a 2.66 GHz iMac i5. Any ideas how to fix this glitch? Many thanks!!!

Scrabbling for suggestions: have you got a filter in operation that might be affecting the clips; or could (a long shot) a clip in another video track (which is out of sight in your timeline window) be casting a green tinge? Presumably you have overcome by now the effects of a good night out!.

Try the following.
First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Desktop.
Flash Player Uninstaller.
When the download has completed, close all browser windows and run the uninstaller. After this has completed, restart the notebook.
Next, download and install Firefox and then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash. Note: You may want to deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before downloading.
Close all browser windows before running the Flash installer.
Launch Firefox and see if videos play Ok in this browser - if they do, close Firefox, open Internet Explorer and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component. When done, restart Internet Explorer.
If you still get the loading problem, run a check on the speed of your internet connection using a site like the one on the link below, in case this is what's causing the problem.
