I've found that my local exchange - HACKNEY is connected, so how is it that I can't get BT inifinity in my building? How is it possible to get our building connected?

Within an exchange area there will be some customers who can't get BT Infinity. There are several reasons why this could be the case:
Your phone line may be connected directly to the telephone exchange and not to a local street cabinet.
Your line may be too far from the local street cabinet to have a stable BT Infinity service.
Your local street cabinet may not be suitable for fibre optic cables.
We haven't yet got the council's planning permission to do the necessary work at your local street cabinet.
So, even though you may be within an enabled exchange area, it's possible that your particular line may not be able to have BT Infinity yet.
The availability checker at www.bt.com/infinity has the latest detail about what speed your line can provide

I have seen cabinets up and it looks like the work may have been completed,
however when I use the bt infinity checker at http://www.bt.com/infinity it says it isn't available.
But when I check my exchange at http://www.samknows.com/ it says it is available in some areas and this is also the case at http://www.superfast-openreach where it says accepting orders.
and finally when checked here: http://fttc-check.alc.im it says it is available now on my cabinet, so why am I unable to place an order.

The only accurate availability check is one that you input your telephone number to, like the BT Infinity checker. Postcode checks are less precise and exchange checks even more so. The key information is which cabinet your telephone line is actually connected to, only the BT Infinity and BT wholesale checkers have access to the relevant database.

Why is closed captioning not available when renting movies?

I've rented a few movies on iTunes and noticed that none that I've rented so far are closed captioned nor offer subtitles in English as an alternative. Yes, the setting is set to show these by default, and I go in to double check anyway -- it's on.
Why is this? If I were to rent this on DVD, these same movies would be captioned. Is this not available when digitally downloaded?

Well, normally movies from the iTunes Store don't include such feature. Despite that, sometimes you'll find a few movies with CC and/or Subtitles...
Definitely all this rules are imposed by the Studios and not by Apple! However, you may want to leave feedback for Apple, by using [this link|http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html].

Yep. You need to touch the sleep/power button once to silence the ring, and twice in order for the call to go directly to Voicemail.

You can only buy from your own country's store - to be able to buy from another country's store you need a valid billing address in that country and be in that country when buying from it. You can try requesting that they be added to US store, but ultimately it's the book's publisher that will have to grant Apple a license to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

Whilst on the move recently I found myself composing a piece using Garageband. However when I got back to the studio and attempted to open the song using Logic Pro 7.0.1 I get:
Core Audio: Plug-in "BassAmpSi" not available! then
Core Audio: Plug-in "Hybrid Bas" not available!
As these must be Garageband instruments I don't understand why they're "not available" or what to do to make them available.
Any ideas?

Yeah! Had a bad experience with Tiger! My fault!
I Believed all the hype that I just had to update to Tiger as soon as it came out. So a multiple licence later and a day or so installing it all the computers in the studio I then find out that Pro-Tools wasn't compatible and had to back everything up and reformat my HD and re-install 10.3.9 which took about a year. I know it all works now (in theory) but with so much work on the go I'm shying off chancing it.

Why is bluetooth not available

If I have bluetooth set to "off", why in the title bar does it have a squiggly line through it and say "not available" when you click on it. When it is unavailable I cant turn it on.
How do I get "not available" to go away forever? This seems to be affecting other things on my computer. Ive tried resetting the PMU or PRAM, trashing the preferences have worked a few times but it comes back shortly, I was told something about running disk permissions but I'm not sure how that would fix this problem.
I dont understand why bluetooth is available sometimes, then moments later its unavailable. Any help?

See my recently posted but very unelegant solution for an iMac. If all else fails this might work for you. Rather than "turn off power" you might need to "remove battery" from a laptop.

Why is KB2881553 not available in WSUS?

I have addressed this issue in the WSUS forum and was told that the WSUS team is not responsible for what updates appear in WSUS, that is the responsibility of the specific product group, Windows in this case. I also know at this point that my WSUS
is configured correctly.
My users with touchscreen monitors or Surface Pro tablets are eligible for "Update for the English Input Personalization Dictionary - KB2881553" but this update only appears when they bypass my WSUS and go directly to Windows Update. In our
environment, we don't want our users launching Windows Update or installing unapproved updates, so this is a problem.
The update appears in the Microsoft Update Catalog, and I can import it manually into WSUS. Unfortunately that is a manual procedure that has to be repeated every time the update is revised, which is several times a month.
It seems that whoever it is at Microsoft who is responsible for Windows updates never ticked the box to "publish this update for WSUS" or similar procedure. Can someone check into this and either fix it or let me know why it's not
available?

By the way, for what it's worth I've shunned all things Metro/Modern - to the extent that I've even sought out and disabled various "Windows Store" operations.
Yet, since my systems are still tied directly to Microsoft's servers (not my own WSUS) I still do see updates for the "English Input Personalization Dictionary" come in through Windows Update.
I am at a loss to see why it should be considered "good enough" to be included in the "official" channel of updates but not for the self-managed flavor. It almost makes you wonder whether they're actively trying to make tying
everything directly to the Microsoft cloud work the best, with obvious motives.
I only posted here to nod my head in agreement with you, and to affirm that "LG" did a lot of typing but not a whole lot of helping in your case. Having said that, I have been on the other side of this kind of conversation where
I have just known something isn't going to be addressed because over time I had come to know the policies of the big company, and so I have tried to express that to someone who can't understand why something isn't being addressed. But I have tried
to remain humble.
Oh, and I'll also toss in that it's often virtually impossible to report problems to folks at Microsoft who could make a difference if only they knew about the problems. Thus, like you, I sometimes post them here. There are several folks
inside Microsoft who do appear to follow up on forum posts from time to time and get things accomplished, so I wish you the best of luck.

If Siri is software, why is it not available on all iPhones? I remember when the 3GS came out and we got video but not on older phones yet there where hacks available for older phones that allowed video. Is this the same scenario where Apple is trying to force hardware upgrades in order to benefit from new software when it really isn't necessary?

Siri is not available on the iPhone for because Apple didn't make it so. None of us users here know the reason; speculation is prohibited by the Terms of Use of this forum.
Regardless of the reason, it is NOT available except for the iPhone 4S. If you want Siri badly enough, get a 4S. Complaining doesn't change anything, and none of us here really want to listen to it anyway.
