I have been with Verizon since they started in Peoria, IL and yet to this day I don't understand why when my wife goes to work at a high school, dead in the middle of town, she has no service, can't send a text without a huge delay and can't receive phone calls? I can be out of Peoria in the middle of a corn field and I get calls without a problem, yet but within the city no service at Peoria High School or very limited. This causes the phone to drop from LTE and then eats the battery.

Service isn't guaranteed inside of buildings especially buildings filled with steel, concrete and electrical wiring. High School buildings definitely have all three.

Let's see if I can get this straight.
You have an Airport Extreme base station that is set to "Create a wireless network" and you have the box checked for "allow this network to be extended"....
Then you have an Airport Express that is set to "Extend a wireless network" which you selected the name of your network in the box...
Correct?

Probably won't work. You can buy a full license for CS6 which is already two versions and soon to be three out of date or you can subscribe to Creative Cloud.

Can I get snippets of XML text without the markup?

I am a newcomer to Oracle Text and have a simple question. I am indexing a database of CLOBS full of XHTML thus:
create index sectiontext_idx ON SECTIONTEXT(TEXT) INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CONTEXT;
However when I grab a snippet, the result is all gooped up with xml markup. Sometimes the snippet starts in the middle of an xml element. As you can imagine, the results are dissapointing when rendered.
Is there a way to index or snippet-ify my data without getting the markup? Would XML or AUTO sectioning help?

Thanks, I incorporated the above suggested SES workaround (filter the document, store the first 8K, run policy_snippet_clob_query against the table). The time required to gather snippets for 50 documents was cut from 36 seconds --> 7 seconds.
However, although the majority of document snippets can be found and satisfied within the first 8k, there are always exceptions. Therefore, in order to generate a snippet for those documents that cannot be satisfied within the first 8k, I simply loop through subsequent chunks of the document until a snippet is generated. This bumped the snippet generation for the same set of 50 documents back up to 30 seconds.
Any ideas to improve snippet performance for those documents that do not generate snippets using the SES workaround? (We have already decreased the number of documents in the result set requiring a snippet)

The 5 authorizations does not apply to ipods, ONLY computers.
If you have authorized 5 COMPUTERS, then you would need to deauthorize all, then authorize the active copmputers.

I am so sorry to bother everyone with this most basic question. I have read about Compressor, but just still don't "get it." I just bought a new MBPw/Retina in order to upgrade to iMovie 11 for its HD export quality. Well, I quickly learned on these forums that no one is happy with the export quality in iMovie11 and they feel misled.   An Apple Customer Service Support Tech told me that I needed to upgrade to a better editing program if that was my goal. Sooo, I just recently bought FCPX, as well..but haven't used it yet.
Here are my simple goals in editing: I just want to be able to export in HD and have a clear picture of my trip videos (I compile about a one hour video of all my international trips ....kinda like a video blog..) My goals are for my videos to display beautifully on my 46" flat screen via Apple TV. I also want to post to YouTube to share that way.   Occasionally, I will create a DVD of my trips.
I am so new to all this. I've been working in iMovie 08 all this time and honestly, it met my needs until I got my Apple TV and was able to finally see how awful the movie quality was.   So here are my questions:
1. Why do I or don't I need Compressor to achieve the goals above?
2. How much space will an HD one-hour video take up on my hard drive?
3. If FCPX exports in HD quality, why would I need Compressor? Won't Compressor degrade the quality if it compresses the file?
Again, I am so sorry to bother all of you with this dinky question.....I just don't have anyone to ask really...

I'm not that You Tube-savvy, but this seems to indicate you can arrange to have files larger than 2 GB…also, I'm fairly sure that I've gone above 2 GB. (I typically use Vimeo and I'm more familiar with their rules.)
Roughly speaking, bit rate is a measure of the digital information that is being transmitted as the video file streams. Al things equal, higher rates generally result higher quality, but with tradeoffs in size, upload time, and possible playback issues.

FCP does some of what Compressor does, but with less capability to make adjustments to meet special special requirements. Why BIA is not stable after all these years? (old)

We purchased BIA (16GB blades) in 2006, implemented to our production in 2007 with Version 34.
It was a success; the first month BIA was hit 18K times. Today we are seeing about 300K hit a month (we're using 32GB blades with version 49. ). I can assure you that it was(and is)not a plug and play appliance, we have experienced every single BIA error existed on earth. Don't get me wrong; when it works it's an awesome product, I believe in BIA and support it 150%, this is why i am here spending my time.
3 weeks back, we upgraded BIA from Ver 48 to 49. After a week of quiet time, one of my blades went down for no appearent reason, that not only caused an outage for thousands of internal and external customers but wiped out the confidence that I have with the new version 49.
Today, I am "once again" sending apology emails to my users, customers, my boss, CIO etc about the BIA outage. Forget about preventing this to happen in the first place, but I don't understand why it is so hard for you SAP guys to identify the query that crushed the blade(s). I assume your priority is making BIA fancier - such as working on back-up and recovery - instead of making it stable, or at least more monitorable
It is very, very, very frustrating that after all these years that this tool is still not stable, in other words after all the feedback we gave to SAP, after all the times we spent together, we are back to the square one. Think about , would you be keep investigating to a car that keep stopping in the middle of rush hour traffic? So why should you pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a product that goes down every day?
Anyways, let me know if you know a way to find out what particular query brings down BIA without leaving the trace on 24x7 for days.

if you go to Usage -> Acess Statistics in TREXAdmin (Python), not all the columns are populated by default (at least in our case)
Like #unloads, #reads, waittime, #merges, # writes, #plans, input/output, # FEMS among others.
To collect this data, you have to activate additional level of stats.
Go to indexserver.ini for your masterblade. default is set to No. Change it to yes.

Unfortunately, there is no documentation available on what each of these values truly represent. So you are left on your own to interpret them as you like.
A discussion in this forum on how you read these numbers would be helpful though.
BIA Stability:
To sum up: BIA has the notion "It rocks when it works" in our company.
Some of biggest issues:
1. There are queries failing that BI team doesn't know about unless users report to us. But users have stopped reporting BIA related failures to us because same query completes successfully after 5 mins (when the temporary memory goes down again). so our users just rerun the quey after sometime rather than reporting it to us. Bottomline - BIA is NOT up 100%. we only know if a query has failed if we go thru the trace files.
2. As Arun mentioned, we too have some queries that dont work at all with BIA due to huge dataset sent back to OLAP. Eventually we had to turn off BIA for those queries.
3. It takes too long for back up to take over. In our case it took 75 mins before back up took over.
we would rather prefer to set a threshold ourselves on when back up should kick in rather than waiting for active blade to go completely down. Unless its a hardware failure (chances of which are pretty slim), back up would always wait for active blade to go completely down. what if an acitve blade is in hung state?

4. We dont know which query brings BIA down. (that what we are tyring to figure out using the stats mentioned above.)
4. Inverted Data model - we have some cubes which have master data tables bigger than fact tables.
For some, BIA works. For others, aggregates are more effecient. we are still not able to figure out, whats the difference?

The most common scenario would be to use attribute expansion, so if you configure a field with the following:
${id}
Then the value of the field will be expanded to the correlation id valiue.
For example if you wanted to use the id in a log statement you could have something like the following:
The message ${id} was presented by subject: ${authentication.subject.id}
Which at run time would be expanded to:
The message Id-12345-12345 was present by Clive
If the id has the value Id-12345-12345 and authentication.subject.id has the value Clive

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes. I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format. However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there. I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC. I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.

Sharepoint list dataheet view error "Cannot connect to the server at this time. You can continue working with this list, but some data may not be available"

I have a List which is having around 14000 items in it.while opening that list in datasheet view it is giving error .
Below is a summary of the issue:
After selecting datasheet view beow error occurs:
    "Cannot connect to the server at this time. You can continue working with this list, but some data may not be available."
    "Unable to retrieve all data."
    The item counts displays say 100 out of 14000 items.
Exporting List to excel is giving only 2000 records out of 14000 records.
Other Observations   -
This is happening to only one list on the site .There are other lists in the site whose no. of records is equal to 8000 to 9000.They are working absolutely fine without any error.
Also, If I am saving this list as a template and creating another list with it ,then it is working absolutely fine with 14000 records,so the issue does not seem to be related with no. of records as the template list is working fine.
I have checked the Alternate access mapping setting ,its fine.
It should not be related to lookup,datefield or any other column as the list created from it template is working fine with all these columns.
I checked below links also ,but doesn't seem to work in my case.

I have spent two days to resolve this issue. Microsoft has released two KBs with reference to this issue...but are not appearing in search results at the top.
I am sharing my finding.
1. First install the
KB2552989 (Hopefully you might have already installed it. The KB detetcts it and informs the user.)
2. Then update registry by adding new key for data fetch timeout as mentioned inKB2553007
These two steps resolved the issue in our environment. Hope it might help others as well.
