Why is it impossible to connect a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.5 to a Panasonic projector using VGA adapter?

A few of us tried for 45 minutes to connect a BMP to a Panasonic PT-F200NT projector.
Please help.
Display options didn't work.
Computer search on the projector remote didn't work.
The button to automatically find connected devices didn't work.
Changing the VGA connection didn't work.
Turning off the projector, then turning on again with the cable and VGA adapter plugged into the computer didn't work.
Selecting computer 1 or computer 2 didn't work.
Pressing F7 or fn+F7 didn't work, neither did and other combination of fn+F#, or alt+F#.
Unpluggin and pluggin in again didn't work.
What does work?
Why is it that when conncting to projectors all Windows machines work perfectly, without any trouble every time, but Mac machines always cause trouble.
Why is it that Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8.5) makes it harder than previous OSs?
If you have any suggestions that would be great, thanks.

Thank you.
Other advice I've had is to keep unpluggin it and plugging it in again (thunderbolt adapter).
I'm nowhere better than I was before.
I guess it's just as you say (how I'm interpretting what you say):
The Thunderbolt adapters are just poorly made.
It works 50 % of the time, maybe they have random number generators in them centred on 1, and they only work if the random number is 1.

Precisely why it's not an iPad, and why it doesn't cost very much.  An Apple rep would tell you how to connect an iPad to every computer.

Don't use the CD software its not necessary.
Infact put it in the trash.
Your router will have an IP address in the range 192.168.1.1
Connect your router to your Mac via Ethernet cable (They usually supply one with the router and don't worry which end goes where the Mac LAN socket is bi-directional)
Also connect your router to your telephone line.
Now open your Web browser Safari . Type in the IP address above and a Javascript control panel will launch
Enter the default password and username (They are on a label on the router )
Your now have the ability to set up your router.
Your will need the password and user name supplied to you by your ISP at a minimum.
Enter these and most modern routers automatically configure the basic networking setting.
You now need to go to the security setting and set this as WPA2 Personal (NOT Enterprise) or WPA2 with AES and TKIP which ever it refers to and create a pass-phase. WRITE it down
    You should be online.
Now remove the cable and connect to the Wifi and enter that passphase.

    Hello there, sarhang27753.
First thing that would come to mind to resolve the issue would be SMC and PRAM resets. I've linked Knowledge Base articles below:

What cable should be used to connect a macbook pro, 13 inch, early 2011 model to an external projector so the project displays the image on the computer screen?

You will need a cable or adapter with a minidisplay connection for the MBP.  That will be inserted in the Thunderbolt port.  The other end is dependent upon the connections of the projector which you have not listed.
    Ciao.

  • I suddenly cannot open facebook on my macbook pro running OSX 10.8.4. I am traveling in Vietnam, if that means anything. . .

Hi. I've been traveling, using facbook on iphone and my macbook. Suddenly I cannot access Facebook. I prefer to use Safari as my broser, but I downloaded Mozilla tonight to just see if it was a browser issue. The problem carries over into Mozilla Firefox. Both say they can't find the server. However, I can access facebook through my iPhone.
Can anyone help me so I can use facebook through my computer--I'd like to use it on my computer. I use Macbook Pro running OSX 10.8.4. iPhone is iPhone 5 running 6.1.4.
    Thanks,
    EST

Try enabling the Personal Hotspot on the iPhone and connecting the Mac to the Internet thru it. If Facebook works ok then, that would mean the ISP is either blocking or having connection problems whereas the phone carrier is not.
Be mindful that carrier data charges can be outrageous so use this as a test first.

There is no upgrade to iPhoto with OS X 10.10.3 - here was an update to version 9.6.1 a few months ago and Photo 1.0 was added with 10.10.3 - what software and which version are you having trouble with - iPhoto or Photos?

You didn't mention any color calibration being done on your monitor.  This is an essential part of any color-correct workflow.  What are you using to calibrate your monitor (and your printer)?
Print profiles (for soft-proofing as well as printing) are for specific combinations of paper & printer.  The nine you have are each, most likely, for a common paper (perhaps mfr'd by Canon) to be used with your printer.
I don't know what you mean when you say "I choose a high standard print option".
Have you read the User Manual chapter on printing?

There is also a good appendix on calibration:

  • O2 Connection Manager - Macbook Pro 2013 OSX 10.9

    Hi all,
I don't seem to be able to get "O2 Connection Manager" to work on a new Macbook Pro (running Mavericks). It worked on my 2011 Mac with Lion and still does on my Win 8 PC (used for testing the dongle!).
Each time I try to open the [O2] connection manager I am left with an error message "thebillingday is a required value." before the application closes. Unfortunately, you cannot set the Billing Date until you (successfully) open the programme - which is something I'm unable to do due to the crash.
After a gruelling experience with the 'helpful' O2 support team, I'm informed they are under the impression that this software 'works fine' and it is not something they can help with (and that took three people and over an hour!).
I suspect that this may be a compatibility issue, however, on the off chance (as I'm stuck without internet whilst out of the office until O2 decide they need to update their software) - has anyone managed to get this to work on Mavericks?
    O2 Connection Manager version: 8.8
    Many thanks,
    Rob

So here is where I now am: when I bought them a couple of days ago, neither of the two (identical) dongles (both Alcatel X230D) worked properly in my Mac (a 2011 MBP, running OSX 10.9.1).  The dongle did not show up in Finder, but did make an appearance in System Preferences>Network as an "HSPA Data Card", but hitting the "Connect" button here resulted in a "device does not exist" error message.
But they both worked just fine in my other latop, which is an Acer running Windows 8.  And when I took the new SIM cards out of the new Alcatel dongles and put them in my (3 year old) Huawei PAYG O2 dongle and connected it to my Mac, they both worked just fine through the existing O2 Connection Manager.
Now what I've discovered today is that if I now plug the new Alcatel dongle into my Mac, then go to System Preferences>Network>HSPA Data Card and check the box marked "Show modem status in Menu bar", then take the dongle out of the USB port, then put it back in the USB port, then go to the Modem Status icon on the Menu bar and click on "Connect HSPA Data Card", hey presto, it connects to the O2 3G network.  But despite this, the dongle is still not present in Finder and cannot be controlled via the O2 Connection Manager, as the O2 Connection Manager cannot see it.
But I can connect now, so that's a big plus.

The kernel is using excessive processor cycles. Below are some possible causes for the condition.
    Throttling
When it gets high temperature readings from the hardware, or a low-voltage reading from the battery, the kernel may try to compensate by interrupting the processor(s) to slow them down and reduce power consumption. This condition can be due to:
☞ a buildup of dust on the logic board
    ☞ high ambient temperature
    ☞ a worn-out or faulty battery in a portable
☞ the malfunction of a cooling fan, a temperature sensor, a voltage sensor, or some other internal component
Note that if the problem is caused by a sensor, there may be no actual overheating or undervoltage.
If the computer is portable, test with and without the AC adapter connected. If kernel_task hogs the processor only on battery power, the fault is in the battery or the logic board. If it happens only on AC power, charging is causing the machine to heat up. That may be normal on some models. CPU usage should drop when charging is complete.
Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, though not very reliable, is sometimes able to detect a fault. For more thorough hardware testing, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
If nothing is wrong with the hardware, then whatever you can do to improve cooling may help.
    Installed software
User-installed software that includes a device driver or other kernel code may thrash the kernel. That category includes virtualization software, such as Parallels and VMware, as well as most commercial "anti-virus" products. Some system-monitoring applications, such as "iStat," can also contribute to the problem. You can test for this possibility by completely disabling or removing the software according to the developer's instructions, or starting in safe mode. Note, however, that disabling a system modification without removing it or testing in safe mode may not be as easy as you think.
    Corrupt NVRAM or SMC data
Sometimes the problem is cleared up by resetting the NVRAM or the SMC.
    External display
Connecting an external LCD display to some MacBook Pro models while the lid is open may cause this issue. If applicable, test by closing the lid or disconnecting the display. You might get better results with a newer LED display.

  • My mid 2010 Macbook pro running OSX 10.8.4 sd card reader will not work

I have a Macbook Pro 13" mid 2010 model running OSX 10.8.4.  I don't use the card reader very often so I can't tell you the last time it worked, but I have used it a few times without issue.  (probably not for at least a year though)
I searched the forums and it seems this was an older problem with lots of suggested fixes.  I tried blowing air through the slot and I also went looking for XQuartz but cannot find it under my utilities.  (I assume it must be in the X11 category that is no longer supported under 10.8.4?)
I have tried putting it in all the way and pulling it out slightly as one person suggested and that also did not work.
Any ideas?  For the first time in a long time I need the card slot and it doesn't feel like cooperating.  LOL
edited to add that I am trying to access a Sony SDHC 32GB card model SF-32NX
    Thanks in advance,
    Wayne

If you haven't already done so, eject the card by dragging its icon to the Eject icon in the Dock (where the Trash icon usually is.) Make sure the write-lock switch on the card is in the unlocked position. Then reinsert the card and test.
If there's no change, and the same happens with more than one card, the card reader is stuck in write-locked mode. I don't generally advise do-it-yourself hardware repair, but one ASC member managed to fix this problem. I haven't tried the fix myself and I can't offer any guidance beyond what's in that discussion. If you cause damage, don't expect your warranty to cover it. I suggest you instead make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • How do I find a driver for a Dell 1320c Colour Laser Printer for a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9.2

How do I find a printer driver for a Dell 1320c Color Laser Printer for use on a MacBook Pro running Mavericks OSX 10.9.2?

Ask Dell who made the printer and what model is it. Then you can see if there is a matching driver provided with OS X or that can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

  • Headset Creative Bluetooth impossible to connect on macBook Pro

I bought a headset Creative 350 Bluetooth to be used on my MacBook Pro.
After installing headset, I get a message from my computer as following :
    - pair : 0K
    - connection : not OK
We testing the headset with other devices like Ipad, Iphone, it works perfectly.
Probably the problem comes from my desktop.
Does somebody knows about it ?

You can change the width of the sidebar, but I agree there are things they could do with the design for smaller screens.  I have an older MBP 15" with a 1440x900 display and I feel like I don't have enough room at times.  Mostly my complaint is with the Files Panel because I work with a lot of content management systems with deep file structures.  Nothing you can do, but I don't really think CC is a lot worse than CS6.
