Why is it taking so long to copy a folder?
Friends,
I'm trying to copy my Aperture library to a different location on my computer to facilitate accessing it on another computer. The library size is 237GB. It's taking approximately five seconds per megabyte which, at this rate, will take approximately forever. All other programs are off. Why is it taking so long? I've never had thi sproblem (if it is a problem) when copying other folders.

You don't mention what the source and destination drives are, how they are hooked up or how much free space there is on the destination, all of which can affect copy speed.
However the Aperture library package always exhibits this behavior regardless of size. The initial estimate of time is astronomical but after a period of tie the copy speeds up and the estimate drops rapidly.
The library package is made up of a number of files and folders and there are numerous sqlite databases. I believe the (though I have no proof) that the sqlite databases are behind this.
As I said in most all cases once the initial phases is over the copy proceeds at a more normal pace.

I have this same exact issue, however only with music. It happens when files are added in anyway: dragged, automatically added, opened from safari.
I have Mountain Lion, a new MacBook Pro with Retina, and iTunes Match turned on. I have a feeling iTunes is trying to match/upload the songs first. I've just added 10 songs, iTunes said they were copied over but they don't show up in my library but I can see the cloud icon "working".
EDIT: That's not the reason, the songs finally showed up but they are still waiting to be matched. -
I was backing up my iphone by changing the location of library because i don't have enough space.My phone was taking too long to copying file so i can celled it.the data is stored in desired location . And now i can't delete that back up.
Also tell me about the performance of iphone 4 with ios 7.1.1...........

iCloud only give so much space for free storage, then if you exceed the limit of 5gb you have to pay for additional storage. -

I have a WD 1TB 3.0 USB external hard drive & im transfering 200GB of data.
Why is it taking so long to back up all my data onto my exernal hard drive using time machine?
I turn it on every day for about 12 hours to backup.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard." Note the timestamp of the last such message. Clear the text field and scroll back in the log to that time. Post the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — edit that out, too, but don’t remove the context. -

Some product downloads are up to 1.6GB; that can take some time - very much depending on your Internet connection. Check http://www.download-time.com/
For a test, I just downloaded Illustrator CC 2014 (1.6 GB), and the download completed within 13 minutes (and I am 10,000 km away from the Adobe download servers).
Try downloading from http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cc-2014-direct-download-links.html - make sure you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page. -

While talking to the customer service department in India, I was told that I could not get help in bypassing my slow Internet connection. Even though I have been a loyal and law abiding customer for thirteen years, Adobe's customer service department treated me like a piece of crap. All I wanted to do is get my applications on cd, so I can bypass the buggy and long downloading periods. I tried desperately to explain: (1) I have been a loyal customer for thirteen years, (2) I bought and committed to a yearly subscription, (3) I have followed Adobe's legal rules since day one, (4) I have no problems with the software's DRM, and (5) I love and support Adobe products.
Regardless about how much I sympathized with Adobe's position, I could not get your customer service department to 'care about me'. I walked away feeling depressed and defeated.
As a result of going through a horrible customer service experience, while also struggling with the change to cloud, I started to think about a change in career. Why do I want to be a graphic and web designer? I spent a crap load of money on an education, so that I can become a slave to the industry's dominate software maker. If it was not for the fact that Adobe's software is the industry's standard, the recent events with your customer service department would have made me walk away.
It sucks that your company has a 90% strangle hold on the industry I love. -

And what specifically? You need to provide much more info. anyway, if the extraction takes longer than half an hour, start over or manualyl extract the files from teh 7z archive using WinZip or WinRar.

What does download iCloud mean? You don't download iCloud. You download the content that is in your iCloud backup to your phone. If you have a great deal of content in the backup, it can take a good bit of time.
Define "so long". That doesn't mean anything to anybody here. It's a relative term and we have no idea how much time "so long" is to you. -

If you're doing the full update it's almost a gig of data, take a bit to download that. It usually comes down to your internet connection.

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
After restarting, you may get a prompt to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and Sync and see if it is working now.
