Why is it taking so long to update an app?? Keeps saying waiting...

My son is trying to update an app on his iPad 2 and it's taking forever! Same thing happens when trying to download a new app. It keeps saying waiting. We've tried restarting but still the same.

A) The app is large.
B) Your Internet connection is slow.
C) Some combination of A & B.

  • Why is itunes taking so long to update 11.1.4?

Why is itunes taking so long updating the latest version of itunes 11.1.4 ?

I have this same exact issue, however only with music. It happens when files are added in anyway: dragged, automatically added, opened from safari.
I have Mountain Lion, a new MacBook Pro with Retina, and iTunes Match turned on. I have a feeling iTunes is trying to match/upload the songs first. I've just added 10 songs, iTunes said they were copied over but they don't show up in my library but I can see the cloud icon "working".
EDIT: That's not the reason, the songs finally showed up but they are still waiting to be matched.

  • Why is Itunes taking so long to update Ipad Moives

Itunes is taking a long LONG time to update a simple 300 Mgb TV show from my Windows 7 Ultimate PC to my IPad? Both have the latest updates. It used to be easy and take a very short time.
Is Apple intentially making it hard to work with Windows in hopes of moving me to Apple products only?
This is very frustrating. I can't even make my Apple TV sync with my Windows computer on the same network.

  • Why is it taking so long to update to 3.0?

Whenever I try to update to 3.0 it always takes up to 4 hours. Is there something wrong with it or my computer?

Seems to me it's close to 280 MB in size. That can take a while. Then, the actual installation and backup can take well over an hour in addition (depending on the size of your touch).

  • WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG TO UPDATE?!

I started updating 2 hours ago and it said at first that it'll take about 2 hours to update but then the estimations keep changing! It said 8 hours, then 5, then 10 AND NOW 12! I deleted all my pics and nothings happening, I assumed that that would make it faster.
    UGH!
    I have no patience

This is a user-to-user forum hosted, but not necessarily read, by Apple. If you want Apple, particularly the Pages development team, to hear/see your concerns, you need to leave feedback. I do suggest you leave polite feedback.

  • Why is it taking so long to update system

have started to update operating system on my iphone 4 and ipad mini 2 times on both after severral hr error downloading  itds now 10 hrs since starting its telling it will take another 10 hrs on my mini and another 5 hrs on my iphone what gives ?

Try again tomorrow.  All Apple servers are undergoing a huge number of hits.  I think tomorrow or even the next day, all upgrade and activation servers will be in better shape.
Any time millions of people want to do exactly the same thing online, there's always trouble, LOL.

  • Why is it taking so long to download an app?

I have been trying to download several apps to my iphone 4s and it is taking way too long. Like more than an hour. What is wrong? I have tried rebooting it and that has not made a difference.

  • All software updates in App Store say "Waiting..."

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and everything looked good. I opened software update and it told me I had some updates, and took me to the App Store to do them. I updated Numbers and Pages successfully, but then it told me I had some other software updates to do -- iPhoto 9.3.2, MacBook Pro EFI Firmware update 2.7, MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.5, Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.0 and iMovie 9.0.7. I hit "Update All," and a few messages popped up about the firmware updates requiring a restart and that the screen would turn gray and I should leave it the heck alone and don't unplug the charger. Ok. Got it.
But the computer never restarted; the status on all of the updates changed to "Waiting..." and that is all. It's been about 15 minutes and still nothing. I tried to quit the app store thinking that would cancel the updates, but I get a message telling me the app store can't be quit until the OS updates are completed.
Do I need to try to restart the computer on my own? I'm afraid to force shut down because I know firmware updates are serious business. But it seems like it is taking an awful long time for the computer to restart on its own. I don't have any other programs running.
    Thanks for any help!

Force quitting the App Store during a software update download deletes any partial downloads already initiated. There is no way to pause a software update in Mountain Lion, which is a huge, glaring problem for anyone with a MacBook/MacBook Pro. If I'm in the middle of a large software update download, I can either force quit the App Store and lose any partial download or wait until the download is finished, which could be a long time if its a multi-gigabyte update. The whole point of having a laptop is the ability to take it with you and anything that prevents that ability must be changed.

  • Why does my hypem (hype machine) extension/add-on just keep saying "waiting" ?? ( not sure if this is a crash xD )

    Downloaded the HypeM extension/add-on.
When i log on to the site and attempt to use this add-on it just keeps saying "waiting".
When clicked, "waiting" just sends me to the home page of HypeMachine.
Not sure if this is an issue on Mozilla's end or HypeM's.
No matter the reason... i would like to see this issue resolved (:
    got music ?

hello, if you have issues using an addon, please directly contact the extension's developers, because they can likely give you more detailed guidance and are the only ones who can fix bugs or make necessary adjustments in the addon. thank you...

  • Why is iOS7 taking so long to download on my iPhone 5?

I started the download shortly after 1:00PM this afternoon when the iOS 7 download became available and it is now 8:30PM. It has gone from saying there were 27 hours remaining, to 12, to 34, and now it is saying there are about 47 hours remaining. I am not sure why my phone is taking so long to update when just about everyone I know that has started the download has iOS 7 running on their phones already. Is there anything I can do to speed up the update? Please help!

Could be something with your internet connection.  Other than that, with everyone trying to download ios7 at the same time can cause delays.

  • Why is it taking so long to download the iOS 7.0.2  ?

Why is it taking so long to download the iOS 7.0.2  ?

If you're doing the full update it's almost a gig of data, take a bit to download that. It usually comes down to your internet connection.

  • ICloud has been upgrading since last night and still upgrading, why is it taking so long?!

icloud is king has been upgrading since last night, why is it taking so long?

If your iPhone 4 IOS version 5.x, you can directly update through the phone.
Put the iPhone on Wall charger and make sure your Wi-Fi is connected.
    Settings > General > Software Update >
If you have have IOS before 5.0 then you need to update through computer iTunes with your iPhone connected and selected.
If you're using MS Windows, disable anti-virus or similar programs before you update.

  • Why is it taking so long to back up on my external hard drive?

I have a WD 1TB 3.0 USB external hard drive & im transfering 200GB of data.
Why is it taking so long to back up all my data onto my exernal hard drive using time machine?
I turn it on every day for about 12 hours to backup.
I think it will take about 4-5 days to complete, is this normal?

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard." Note the timestamp of the last such message. Clear the text field and scroll back in the log to that time. Post the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — edit that out, too, but don’t remove the context.
