Why is it that whenever I update my Mac, my experience as a user diminishes?
I'm finding more and more lately, every time I install an update, generally being an OS or firmware update, my computer becomes less responsive. ie, my computer takes longer to fully wake from sleep or my brightness or volume settings bug out or my wifi connection drops only to be fixed when I use diagnostics.
This frustrates me as a Mac user, I've used Mac products since I was say... 12 years old, I'm now 19, and have been experienceing this with all my computers. Within my household I've gone through the classic swivel head iMac, the iBook, several Macbooks and now a Macbook Pro. Every time it's the same story, my computers are not only becoming obsolete (as expected) but are generally performing to a lesser standard every time an update is released. Is there a reason for this? Or are all computers doomed to the same fate to the point where instead of updating my software I'm much better off by buying a new computer?
It's things like this that make me feel like migrating to Linux (or even Windows).
I'm aware that this isn't a question for support, but more a topic I would like to hear or read a discussion about, thanks to anyone that reads/responds.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items. -

No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.
TDM should be safe. Using cautious, manual copying of files from the Target machine to the Host machine should not result in unexpected loss of files or damage to the Target drive's directories. It should behave exactly the same as if it were an external (to the Host) firewire drive.
• I don't suppose there is anything I can do to 'put back' lost items from a separate Time Machine drive which has an up to date backup on it.
There is probably a way to do that - seems to me that's one of the reasons for a Time Machine volume.
On the other hand, if the Time Machine volume is rigidly linked to the now-absent OS on the original drive, there may be no way to effectively access the files in the TM archive.
I know that using a cloned drive would work well in this instance.
I have no experience with Time Machine, so perhaps someone who has will chime in with suggestions.
With the machine in TDM with the other machine, have you tried running Disk Utility to see if you can effect repairs to the drive? -

I am having a similar problem. I get one of two errors: "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null)" OR "We could not complete your purchase INSTALL_ERROR_DISTRIBUTION_SIGNED_BY_APPLE".
I am having this trouble on a brand new MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.1. My firewall is off and no virus software is installed.
I can download and update apps on a different computer using OS X 10.6.8 just fine.

Why did the current (past few days) automatic update for FF delete my saved user-names and passwords for my gmail accounts?
My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

Why is it that everytime I update my iTunes(or do something big), my iPod gets a new glitch?
I noticed after my two updates, that my iPod gets weird after every single one. For example, it was perfectly fine when I bought it and then, I updated iTunes. Then, my iPod starts acting like a TV screen and has lines show up every so often to make me think that it is almost broken. I bought it in December and it is a touch. 64gb and 4th generation. So now, I don't update my iTunes. Also it seems to be glitching with my album covers. I added 30 new songs today all with a cover(some already having some because of a past album) and when I lock my iPod and play the songs, the album covers get switched up or don't even come up at all. :/ This makes me worry. What can I do? (Without restoring it.)

Apparently some apps were obtained with a different Apple ID.
ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them. Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password.
Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another. -

Did the original songs that do not appear on the car player play in the Music app on the iPod? Sometimes glitches happen and they do not. Also, If y ohave a 5G iPod/iOS 7, purchase songs will show with an cloud icon by them if they are not downloaded if Shall All is turned on in Settings>iTunes and App Store

Why is it that whenever I try to export images to an external folder, Apereture stops responding?
This used to work fine but has suddenyl stopped. When I try to export any versions to an external folder in any format, Aperture just locks up?
Then something in your user account settings may be broken. Try to log in from a different user account to see, if Aperture is working, if you try to export using the Guest account.
if it does not even work from the Guest account, reinstall Aperture.
But if the Guest account works well, quit Aperture and open your user library. Remove the Aperture's user preferences and the Export Presets from the User Library as described here:

Note: Your User Library is hidden by default in 10.7.x or later - to open it in a Finder window use the "Go" menu from the Finder's main menu bar.
Quit Aperture, if it is running. Log off and on again.
Open the user library by using the Finder's "Go > Go to Folder" menu and hold down the options-key, until "Library" appears in the drop down menu. Select it.
In the widow that will open, scroll down to "Preferences"
From the "Preferences" folder remove "com.apple.Aperture.plist".
From the "Application Support" folder remove
~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Export Presets.plist
Then try to launch Aperture again.
But deleting the "Preferences" file will cause Aperture to forget the preferences settings. Be prepared to have to reset all options you set using the Aperture Preferences panel. -
I have upgraded to iTunes 11.0.1 recently and have sadly discovered that there is some kind of glitch present that has deleted and entire library of archieved podcasts as well as the subscription to the podcast as well. Can these be recovered? Is Apple aware of this?
Thanks for the input. Yes, I am aware that I can, (to an extent) locate the lost podcasts and download them again, but then "knowing" exactly what was lost becomes an issue, (?). I had renamed all of these to indicate the content in a more comprehensive way, and...using my computer to retain these things, is really the point...yes? To eliminate the necessity of remembering a lot of minutua, and free up your organic hardrive for more important things. The real issue here is that too many times I have experienced the coerced methodology of Apple, (as well as other software providers) to mandate upgrades or loose ability to utilize that which you have in good faith bought, ( and should be able to utilize until it breathes it's last breath) only to be forced into "upgrades" which don't work as well as what you are upgrading to...and round and round and round...

Why is it that whenever i rate a song in iTunes for the first time, the volume slightly decreases?
- i mean, THE volume of THE song. not the computer volume. or even the iTunes volume.
- i swear, there's nothing wrong with my headphones. I checked!
- when i rate the song the SECOND time, nothing happens. the volume doesn't decrease. or even increase.

I go to a design school and a bunch of us have this problem. We mostly run CS4. We are also all on macs.
There is no Flash player version 15... as in your code:

For some reason Adobe thought it would be a good idea to target a Flash player version (15) as default.....which may be out a couple years in the future. Go figure!!!
If you don't like player version 9, change to 10 or 11.... just not 15 (yet).
