Why is it when I log into FaceTime I get " the server encountered ad error processing registration, please try again" I never seen this before how do I get FaceTime again ??
when I try to log into facetime I recieve a message that says the server encountered an error processing registration please try again later. I have been trying to facetime for days this just happened a few days ago, how do I get around this ?
Hi,
As the Other threads suggests I would check the Date and Time settings on the Mac and compare that with the settings in the router.
Messages (and iChat before that) send Time stamped info to Login and to send IMs.
Obviously most people set their Macs to their Time Zone and nearest city/town.
What people sometimes forget is that their Router/Modem device(s) have to be set correctly as well.
EDIT
Also Add a Public DNS server to your System Preferences> Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab
A Google one such as 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8 seem to work well for most people

I get this when try to verify my id on FaceTime: the server rencountered an error processing registration please try again later.
While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use FaceTime. There's a FaceTime Support Community where everybody uses FaceTime. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_app_store/facetime_for_mac

I have a MacBook Pro and have problems using my Facetime. Last time I used it without problems. Now I am trying to use it, and it is asking that I enter my Apple ID. When doing so, it comes up with a message that says, "The server encountered an error processing registrion. Try again later." What does this mean, and how do I fix it? Thanks.

I'm trying to get onto facetime and I keep getting a message saying the server encountered an error processing registration please try again later. Can anybody tell me what is going on?
I have read over and actioned ALL recommendations many times over, and still get the Facetime error..! I have reset Host file, looked for iphone certificates, set time/date to auto, checked for suspect DNS entries, cleared caches etc etc. It's become a very fustrating problem. Worked fine for a long time but then suddenly stopped.
I wish I could find the solution... -
I can't seem to manage to get logged into facetime on my MacBook Pro using OS 10.6.8, Snow Leopard. It keeps giving me the error of "the server encountered an error processing registration, please try again later" Well two days later its the same issue, can someone please help!! I see a lot of the fixes on here are for the upgraded operating system, and everyone seems to have had snow leopard work fine...why cant I!!! help the old school op system user PLEASE!! :-)
I've been trying to get an answer to this problem for MONTHS. I upgraded both my iMac and my MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion, and ever since, FaceTime and iMessage stopped working. I got the "Server encountered an error . . ." So, I called Apple "support" and they claimed they haven't heard of this issue. I said I find it hard to believe since it's apparently a huge problem for tons of users and is all over the Apple forums. After spending an hour on the phone with "support", they said they had to pass i on to a senior engineer and they'd call me back within 2 days with an answer. After waiting a week, I decided to go to the place where I should have gone before, the place where all questions can be answered, even those too advanced for Apple, that place . . . YouTube.
Fixing the time issue didn't work for me, nor did any other solution that has been posted on the boards. Yet after watching a 1:24 video on YouTube, both FaceTime and iMessage now work for me.
Here's the solution which WILL work.
You do need to first make sure your date/time settings are correct and set to adjust automatically. But doing just this step will not fix the problem.
Open Finder, click on "Go" at the top menu, then select "Go To Folder"
Type in /etc and hit enter
You'll see a file called "hosts". Drag that file to your desktop.
Right click on that file and open with Text Edit
Select all the text in that file, delete it and replace it with the text below, exactly as it is below. Then save the new hosts file (just exiting will save it). And then drag that new hosts file back into the /etc folder to replace the old one. After that, your FaceTime and iMessage will work, no thanks to Apple.
# Host Database
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost

Hey radyslav,
There's an article that applies to your situation, I'd follow the steps within here:

IMessage & Facetime log in error - The server encountered an error processing registration.
I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Both my iMessage and Facetime was working fine until yesterday when I get logged out all of a sudden. I tried signing in to my iMessage & Facetime and all I keep getting is an error saying "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."
My Apple ID is active and working on my iTunes, iCloud, Macbook Air and iPhone but it's only on my iMac that's giving me this problem. Both my MBA and iMac are running on Mountain Lion.
I tried deleting the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imessage.plist method as suggested by others. It did NOT work. I tried setting my date/time automatically. It also did NOT work. I'm just puzzled as to why my MBA is able to log in to Facetime and iMessage but not my iMac.Hi,
Try booting into Safe Mode and if successful reboot and use Messages normally.

I'm having trouble logging into facetime. We do not have a new account. I've changed the password and still cannot get in. The message that pops up is "the server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." I want to talk to my granddaughter but can't. Can someone help me. Thanks
I had to same problem. I found forums about adding the DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in System Preferences - Networks I did that and it still didnt work. Just found another forum saying to go into System Preferences - Time and Date and check the Set time and Date automatically. And it worked for me. Hope it works for you too.
