Why is iTunes opening randomly after i close it?

Well, the title pretty much sums it up. About 2 minutes after i close iTunes, it opens again. On its own!
Any idea why?

Did you try repairing permissions? It has done the same thing to me but I think all I had to do is repair my permissions.

  • Itunes opening randomly

For some reason as soon as I close itunes and go about my business with other applications, it opens up again. No matter how many times I quit out of it. I am definitly not accidentally clicking it open again. I'm not sure if there is some type of short cut programed or if its some how in macs version of "startup" programs. Can anybody solve this?

That happened to me before. I used to use an iTunes widget and once I got rid of that it stopped opening randomly. I've also heard a restart of your machine fixes it.

  • Why my iPhone5 opens random aplications and makes calls by it self when charging?

Werry weird thing happened. I was listening music from my iPhone5 and plugged it in for charging. Then my phone started making calls to people from my contacts, create emails and open random aplications. When trying to open settings it would open calendar or my contacts, trying to close aplications was imposible. For every one closed, two more would open. ??? That was the first i have came across of this problem. I have tried to reboot the device ( Power and Home buttons ) but issue still was happening when pluged in the charger. When unpluged there was no issue. Its a pitty i could not record this. Verry amusing .

    Hello cyberpunk2029,
I had similar (but less dramatic) problems while charging.
Wanted to send a text and the phone went crazy, executing completely different ations than those I touched.
I also experienced this with my old iPhone 4, but I thougth it was because the phone was old. Now I have a brand new 5S and the same problem.
I read a weird tip that - in my complete helplessness - tried and seems to work (I've just tried it now, so I don't know if this actually solves the problem in the long run or it is just another coincidence, especially because the "solution" is pretty weird): remove the cover.
I have a simple silicone cover. After removal, the phone started to act normally.
Should you not have a cover on your phone... I don't wanna know...
    Try it, hope it helps.

  • Why will iTunes not start after installing latest updates on a windows computer?

I got the usual notification that an update for iTunes on a windows 7 computer was available and told it to install
It went through the motions and seemed to install,. but when I tried to open iTunes on completion I got the message below.
I subsequently removed iTunes and reinstalled after manually removing various iTunes folders, then reinstalled iTunes with the same result of the error message so I removed iTunes again and installed an older version of iTunes which worked fine until yesterday I was notified of an update for the iCloud, which I installed and am back at square one with the same error message.
I have tried to send an e-mail to Apple but they make it virtually impossible, so I would appreciate any advice anyone can give. I cannot be bothered with all this mucking avbout every time there is an upgrade
    Thanks, Mactoshb

Hi, I carried out the advice and after reloading, Itunes is starting OK but I could not delete most of the files and folders mentione,d constantly getting the message that they were open in some unspecified program and to close it to continue, problem was I had no idea what the program was that they were open in.
However I have Ashampoo uninstaller installed and it identified various programs associated with Apple and after uninstalling them I reinstalled iTunes and it is working fine now.
Question, am I going to get this cobblers every time Apple offer an upgrade?????
Anyway thanks for your help and hopefully this posting will help others, as I doubt I am unique and others will have the same problem, Time perhaps Apple sorted it out

  • Why Does iTunes Launch Automatically After A MP3 Download?

I recently updated to Leopard and I've discovered that iTunes will launch automatically after I download an MP3. This is annoying since I keep my MP3's on an external HD separate from my Download folder. You shouldn't have to keep iTunes open just because you've downloaded an MP3. If I download a PDF to my Download folder, Acrobat doesn't launch automatically. That's the kind of OS behavior I expect from Windows. How do I stop iTunes from behaving in this manner or is this another "genius" feature I'll have to put up with?

    Update:
If you're sure it's not your browsers, then most likely you have accessed iTunes' preferences and clicked the Set button for "Use iTunes for Internet music playback" (iTunes > Preferences > Advanced) at some point.
As you can see, there is not an option to undo this change. So, you will either need to use Property List Editor (if you have installed the Developer Tools with OS X), or a 3rd-party property list editor to undo the setting. Short of that, you would have to simply quit iTunes and move the file com.apple.iTunes.plist (/~username/Library/Preferences/) to the Desktop to back it up, or to the Trash--but don't empty it yet in case you want to restore it. Then, launch iTunes and go through the process of setting up the application's preferences again, but don't set the preference to use iTunes for Internet music playback this time.

  • Why Won' iTunes Open?

I set my preferences to have iTunes open when I plug in my iPod, but it won't open. Is there a solution? Thanks.

Is the iPod recognized by iTunes or Windows?
Both. When I open iTunes myself, the iPod appears in the list. Also, when I hook up the iPod, Windows opens the folder as though it is a disk -- even though I have left "enable disk" unchecked.

  • Why my iTunes open every minute without I have asked?

I have iTunes in my Windows vista and before I made the update for iTunes 10.5 it did not give any trouble, but after the update it open for itself, without I asked or started. I would like to know how can I stop it to open alone? Everytime that I'm working in my PC the iTunes appear. It's getting boring.

I have exactly the same thoughts as you re iTunes constantly opening.
The only way I could find to stop it opening again was to do the following -
    Open task manager
    Select the 'Processes' tab.
    Look for 'iTunesHelper.exe'
Select 'iTunesHelper.exe'  the click on 'end process'
It worked for me, but I don't see why I should have to do this.  There should be an option to prevent iTunes from constantly opening.

  • FF downloaded. opens but after 30secs closes down of its own accord.

The latest version of Firefox is installed.
I can open it without a problem but after about 30 seconds it closes down.
When I try to reopen nothing happens.
The trouble shooting "auto Add" does not work and I cannot do it manually because I cannot open FF

    Hi missouri75,
Are you still facing this issue?
Have you tried to create a new user profile and test again. If not, you may try it.  Have you tried to install latest updates for Acrobat.
You may also try repair disk permission in safe mode.:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US     Repair disk permission: Repair Disk Permissions and Repair Disk - Battle.net Support

  • ITunes pauses randomly after Leopard upgrade

    Hi,
I upgraded too Leopard 2 days ago and iTunes has not been working correctly since.
iTunes randomly pauses songs (after about 30sec.), if I press play again it pauses again...
I have restarted iTunes and I have tried it with and without using Airtunes, but the problem stays.
    Anyone having the same problem?
BTW I use You Control: Tunes, but the same here, I have stopt the engine and the problem stays...
    Message was edited by: Baeky

Aparently I was too hasty with my conclusion:
iTunes still pauses 'randomly'. Although I think I found when it goes wrong. Everytime I play a song after a few seconds I can here the processor working harder, at this time iTunes or Leopard is changing the iTunes database files in the iTunes folder. When it is done 'updating' them iTunes pauses the song. I don't see how we can fix this one...

  • ITunes opens automatically after file downloads - HOW TO FIX?

    Hi all,
don't no wether it's my new MacBook or iTunes 10, but every time I download a music file from the internet it automatically opens, and starts playing, in iTunes.
Even if iTunes is closed it opens it up and starts playing..
I really want this to stop and just manually add the songs to iTunes.
Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

Its not Itunes, its Safari. It has a setting for "automatically open safe files" after download. So it opens them in itunes. If you disable that setting, you should be fine.
