Why is iTunes Podcast Artist Column Incorrectly Showing the Channel Title?

I've noticed that recently for iTunes Podcasts that I create, when viewing the podcast in iTunes, the Artist column (for each podcast media record) is not showing the correct <itunes:author> field for that item. Instead it is showing the <title> field for the whole category. I thought my XML may have been incorrect, but it never used to be a problem for and it still looks correct. Further more, I noticed that other podcasts on itunes had this same problem (all). Why isn't it showing the "author" in the artist column anymore? Is this a glitch in the new version of itunes?

No, I think it's actually using the "channel <title>" node, not the owner <itunes:name> field you mentioned. Mine are different, and it's picking up that field for sure.

require this tag for the channel:
<title>
This is the top level title of the whole podcast, and it should not be used for the "author" of the individual podcast "items". See the image on that page which describes which fields are displayed where:

It explicitly says that "item <itunes:author>" should show up in the column. Whereas "channel <title>" is used for the top channel title ONLY. They are not following their own specs. And if you aren't including that "channel <title>" field, then you aren't following the specs either I'm glad it works, but I'm not quite ready to abandon the specs, because they are going to find the glitch in iTunes and fix it soon.
I would like them to fix what is very obviously a problem in a recent release of iTunes. Maybe if we all report the problem, they'll pay attention:

Why does Itunes sync my purchase transfers to the wrong hard drive?

I'm running windows 7 with a 64gb SSD boot drive and 1tb data drive. My boot drive is almost completely full. I installed itunes on my data drive and set the preferences to sync media to the data drive as well. I plug in my old ipod to tranfer purchases before an update. The tranfer never finished because it synced all of the data to my boot drive and now my boot drive is completely full and the data is nowhere to be found. I recently had the same problem with it syncing an iphone backup to the same drive, but I found a work around for that. Why does Itunes instist on loading stuff on the boot drive? How can I redirect it? This is simple preferences that should be available to change, but simply aren't.

I created a pivot table with two metrics columns. One metrics column has the aggregation rule of 'Min', the other has 'Max'. Now I want to add a column to show the difference of these two metrics for each row. Is this possible? How to do it? Thank you in advance.

How can I add a column to show the website (web site) of an rss feed?

I've got a lot of rss feeds coming into thunderbird. I organized some into folders, but also have a folder for several rss feeds as they adress the same topics and I prefer not to browse through 25 separate folders. However, the sender doesn't always make it clear which blog it's from, so I'd like to add a column which shows the website of the rss feed. (sender is often: [email protected], and there are different writers for a single blog who themselve have their own blog as well, so can't sort on sender name either).
When opening an rss feed, it displays in the header: web site (with the space) and then the web adress. This is what I'd like to be able to see in my columns.
I didn't see an option yet to customize columns, nor did I find an addon that does this.
Does anyone know a solution?

Thanks, that seems to work. I'm struggling to place the lightbox at the top of the page however - when I click the trigger I want the menu image to display anchored to the top of the page, but there's always a gap as it centers the image. Help is appreciated!

In test management work list (STWB_WORK), is there a predifined column which shows the number of support messages raised against a message (Yellow spark symbol), there is no ALV layout defined for this scenario, please advice is there any configuration required for this column to be displayed or a development has to be carried out?

It will list all the messages
since its ALV display you can filter as per requirement

When buying HD versions of shows, only the HD copy will automatically download now (probably due to requests from people who don't need/want the SD version and complained about it being forced on them). The SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select TV shows. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the shows and be able to download them.

I can't access a bunch of old song files. any new cds are available to me in itunes. all others are not accessible. how do i merge the new cd's with the old ones so that all the songs are playable in Itunes. thanks.

I'm not so sure... I've never run across this particular error (my library is stored on my internal hard drive, but copied to an external for backup purposes with an application other than iTunes or Finder. I don't think Apple will provide acknowledgment to issues experienced only by very small numbers of people... I'm one of those, perhaps foolish, individuals who allows my computer to download updates immediately, rather than waiting for fear of problems, and again, I've never had this error.

Hey there,
Since, the CD is a greatest hits CD, the first thing you may or may not want to do is check to see if it marked as part of a compilation. To do this, highlight each track of the album (or one at a time if you prefer ) and control->click and choose Get Info from the menu.
When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is no check mark next to "part of a compilation." Then hit OK when you are finished, if you have made any changes.
If that is not the case, I would retype the name of the album in for all 14 tracks at once and see if that helps.
Lastly, if still no luck, I would check out this comprehensive post from turingtest2 on grouping albums together. Hope this helps.

I have a iPod nano 5th generation and there's a song I'm trying to play, but each time I click it from artist it just shows the songs name again. And when I try to click the song from the song list it just skips. How can I fix this?

Pretty much I have a song on my iPod 5th gen nano that doesn't wanna play, its just one song every other song works. I click it and it show the thing when a song is about to play but then it instantly goes back to where you click on the song. And when I click on it in the songs list it skips immediately to the next song on the list. I have tried restoring my iPod but the song still won't work I've also tried removing the song from the library and the putting it back on iTunes but still no luck. What do you guys suggest I do?

Can you play the song in iTunes?
If you can't the song file is probably corrupt and needs to be replaced.

TS3694 Trying to update iPhone 5 to latest OS. Now the screen is dark except for the iTunes icon and an icon showing the charger cable pointing to the icon. Bricked out at that point.

When I looked at the phone a while later, the screen was dark except for the iTunes icon in the middle of the screen and another icon showing the charger cable and an arrow point to the iTunes icon. Now I'm bricked out of the phone. When I hold down the power button after the screen goes completely dark, the Apple logo appears, then the iTunes icon I described.

Since the last update, every time I open iTunes on my computer, I have to agree to the terms, and then also decide whether or not to share my album info. How do I get this to stop?

Update: I'm having the same problem using McAfee Security. I found another discussion related to this problem, and it appears that McAfee Security program may be the root cause of the problem. See the discussion "Why does iTunes delete my itunesprefs.xml."
