Why is itunes refusing to update user ipod?

I have tried everything I can think of but itunes 6 will not updated my 60GB from the library it doesn't recognize any new songs.
What is going on here? I am at my wit's end. Any suggestions?

I just upgraded to iTunes 7.1. As soon as I ran it for the first time, it started updating my iPod...about 600+ songs worth...NO idea what it was updating about those songs. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know what it is updating on my iPod? Thanks.

  • Why wont itunes let me update my ipod touch 4g. to ios 5

itunes has a message pop up whenever i try to update saying it "could not be restored, an unknown error occured. (3194)". how do i fix this?

The first thing to check is that you have the latest version of iTunes. Running an older version is the most common reason to get a 3194 error.
If your computer is running the latest version or upgrading doesn't fix the problem, try the steps listed in the section headed "This device is not eligible for the requested build" in this support article:

    Hope this helps.

My ipod and itunes both are skipping to another song about in the middle of the song. It doesn't happen on all songs...only some songs. I have reset the ipod, I have done a restore, I have reloaded itunes, I have updated the ipod but still am unable to figure out why. It did not used to do this. I can't figure out any pattern to the songs it does it on versus that it doesn't do it on. Some of the songs are purchased, some are imported, etc. We are running Windows 7.

  • ITunes refuses to recognize current iPod software

    Hi all,
I had upgraded to the latest version of iTunes (7.1), but after a few weeks, it stopped loading completely. Instead, it began freezing 3/4 way through updating the library. I assume that during the upgrade, the iPod firmware was also upgraded.
I wasn't able to work my way around it, so I uninstalled ver. 7 and re-installed ver 6. Since then, iTunes opens perfectly (a relief).
Problem: iTunes refuses to recognize my iPod now, saying:
"The iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.0 or later."
Obviously, I was having trouble with 7.1 so that's not an option I'd like to explore. Suggestions would be appreciated.

i have a 3rd generation ipod and my girlfriend has a 2G nano, both of which stopped being recognized by itunes immediately after i installed itunes 7.0.2 (shocking). After some research and playing around i did find a workaround. Plug your ipod in and wait for "Do Not Disconnect". Right click on My Computer and select manage. On the left hand side towards the bottom select Disk Management. Next you should see the name of your ipod in the middle section, right click on it and select Change Drive Letter and Path. Next Click the Add button and choose a drive letter not being used by your computer (Q usually is available) and press OK. Close the Computer Management window and open itunes, you should see you ipod and should be able to update it.
As far as I can tell, you have to do this each time you plug you ipod in, but it does work.
    Good Luck!

  • IPod Classic 120GB - iTunes Won't update my iPod software to version 2.1

I have a 120GB iPod classic with software version 2.0.1 bought in 2009.
I want to upgrade the software to version 2.1 so I can have the voice memo feature on my iPod.
I am running iTunes version 10.0.1
When I ask iTunes to check for a software update for my ipod it says, "This version of the iPod software (2.0.1) is the current version."
    This is obviously not true.
I've tried to download the software update directly from apple.com ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120229 ) but it gives me a full download of iTunes 10.0.1 which I already have installed.
I don't understand why iTunes will not update my iPod's software. I don't understand why the iPod didn't come with the 2.1 version already installed. According to the download page, this version was released in 2003.
Can anyone please explain to me why or more importantly, HOW I can get the ipod software updated when iTunes fails to do it?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello BookofSplendors,
    And welcome to  Discussions!
Sorry, but that firmware update is for a different model iPod, which would explain why its release date was from 2003 and not something more recent. The firmware on your 120 GB iPod is actually the most up to date version already.
