Why is iTunes taking so long to add files?
I am having a couple of problems with my iTunes on my new MacBook Pro. When I add items to the folder 'Automatically add to iTunes', they take a long time to appear in my library, this is happening for everything including movies, TV shows, and music.
Also, when I add items to my library, either from the folder mentioned above, or by inserting a CD and ripping it into iTunes, it sometimes says 'Unknown Album' and no artist (or the wrong artist). Even if it has correctly identified the tracks before they were imported.
If I press ⌘ + I to edit the info, all of the correct information is there, but it just won't show it in my library.
If it makes any differece, my MacBook Pro was purchased about 3 days before Mountain Lion came out, so it shipped with Lion and then I updated to Mountain Lion. I also have iTunes Match enabled.

EDIT: That's not the reason, the songs finally showed up but they are still waiting to be matched.

Itunes is taking a long LONG time to update a simple 300 Mgb TV show from my Windows 7 Ultimate PC to my IPad? Both have the latest updates. It used to be easy and take a very short time.
Is Apple intentially making it hard to work with Windows in hopes of moving me to Apple products only?

Why is itunes taking so long to download
when i try to download itunes its taking very VERY long. it will start downloading at like 70kb/s and then very quickly go down to about 3 or 5 kb/s what could be wrong?
I am experiencing the same thing. All downloads from appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net are very slow. This includes iTunesSetup and Quicktime. I have been trying to download the new version of iTunes for a few days, but I get too impatient. 90 minutes for 57 meg isn't cool. I have no other issues with the internet only this site. FWIW my ISP is Verizon DSL in Southern California.

My internet connection appears to be working great, but the movies are taking far too long....7 hrs for a 1.1GB movie
I have noticed this on some TV episodes. Takes for ages and then suddenly speeds up. I think it must be at the Apple end because like you I have a fast internet connection. Guess we will just have to wait for Apple to fixit

I wanted to upate my itunes and it was taking forever and making my computer slow.
Could be something with your internet connection. Other than that, with everyone trying to download ios7 at the same time can cause delays.

HI all I've had a replacement phone and cable yesterday however it is still painfully slow to transfer music files.Im on windows 7 and transferring from my external hd through the laptop on to the phone.All my other apple products are fine with transfers.Ive tried changing usb ports to see whether any faster also.Im stuck.

Why is it taking so long to download film rentals from Itunes ,before it took 20 mins when I have a good internet connection.
If you have anti virus software installed, disable that.
Turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy
Check your internet speeds just in case > Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
Try not using other applications that require downloading files while downloading media from iTunes. -

I subscribed two weeks back and on the iTunes site Step 1 gathering data is still going on. Why is it taking so long?
I was also having this problem after having successfully used iTunes Match previously. The problem appears to be when there are two version of songs and one of them has the iCloud icon made using a dotted line. Here's what solved it for me:
1. Identify your duplicate files. I have a large library, so I elected to use Dupin Light (available on the Mac App store). I suppose I could have used iTunes duplicate finder too, but I prefer the flexibility of Dupin.
2. Once you have identified your duplicates, find them in iTunes. In my case Dupin identifed 50, from 19,000+ tracks, so for me it was not a large number to check manually.
3. When you find the duplicates, if one of them has the aforementioned dotted line iCloud icon, this is the one you need to delete. If you accidently delete the other version, you can always download it again if you have purchased it from iTunes. In any case, it seems to be the tracks with this icon that it is causing iTunes Match to stall, so you will need to delete all of these.
4. Once you have completed step 3, iTunes Match should not proceed and complete. -

Try this,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
After restarting, you may get a prompt to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and Sync and see if it is working now. -

If your iPhone 4 IOS version 5.x, you can directly update through the phone.
Put the iPhone on Wall charger and make sure your Wi-Fi is connected.
Settings > General > Software Update >
If you have have IOS before 5.0 then you need to update through computer iTunes with your iPhone connected and selected.
If you're using MS Windows, disable anti-virus or similar programs before you update. -
