WHY IS ITUNES TRYING TO KILL MY PODCAST???

iTunes appears to be deliberately trying to sink my podcast.  Over 2 months ago I started a podcast and I've really enjoyed the experience and the feedback I've gotten from listeners.  I received about 100,000 downloads and probably close to 600 5 star ratings and over 150 mostly positive reviews.  My show was always generally at the top of the New & Noteworthy and even after my 8 weeks on New & Noteworthy, I generally remained in the top 20 and sometimes #2 or #3 in my category on the Top Podcast rankings.
Then suddenly two weeks ago, I was knocked out of the top 20 and out of the Top Podcasts listings all together.  Not even in the Top 200!  What's weird, is I received more downloads and positive reviews on the week when iTunes took me out of Top Podcasts than I did the previous week when I was in the Top 5!
I've also noticed that iTunes just routinely decides to arbitrarily take away ratings and reviews from me.  What the ****?  I'm starting to wonder if there is some political motive here.  Frankly, it's starting to look like malicious intent by iTunes to censor my show by keeping me off of Top Podcasts and relegating me to the iTunes wilderness.
I have repeatedly contacted customer support and all of my emails have been ignored by iTunes.  iTunes customer service *****.  I've been an Apple stockholder for 15 years and I have always loved this company's products but I am so disappointed in what iTunes has done to me.  It almost seems like harassment and intimidation and I have no clue why I have been targeted by iTunes.  My show is not offensive or explicit.  It's a clean informative podcast covering news, history and current events.  ALL CONTENT PROVIDERS SHOULD BE OUTRAGED THAT ITUNES IS DOING THIS TO PODCASTERS.
If anyone at Apple is reading this, be aware that I am attending the Apple stockholder meeting on this Tuesday, March 10, and if iTunes hasn't fixed this, I'm am personally going to ask CEO Tim Cook in front of a packed room full of my fellow stockholders WHY IS ITUNES TRYING TO SINK MY PODCAST???

iTunes is not trying to sink your podcast.  The top 200 lists are based on the number of new subscribers you receive in the last week.  With a weighted average for the past 24, 48 and 72 hours.
If your show is dropping in the top 200 lists it is because it is not getting new subscribers.
What is the link to your podcast?

PS - Slamming Apple customer support is probably not the best way to get your show featured in the future.

  • Why is iTunes trying to sync deleted items to iPhone?

    Hi,
I own a MacBook Pro and an iPhone 4.
When attempting to sync my music, iTunes tries to sync particular items twice. The result is that the second time it tries to sync it fails, and it results in a message "x items could not be synced see itunes for more information".
    Attempted Solutions:
I erased all the music off my iPhone (having previously had it on synchronising particular playlists). However this left all the duplicated items that iTunes were trying to sync to the iPhone as showing as audio files on the summary tab and in the music tab. I can manually delete these if I select manually manage music however this comes back again when I press sync. I don't understand why it's trying to sync music (and taking up space on the iPhone summary tab) when I have de-selected synchronising any music at all.
I have deleted the items in questions completely from my iTunes however iTunes still attempts to synchronise then when connected to the iPhone. They do not show in the Music App on the iPhone but they do show as greyed out entries on the music pane in iTunes under my iPhone's device name. Again I can delete these but upon synchronising my playlists by de-selecting manually manage music these items re-appear!
    Someone please help me!
    Thanks,

Yea mine tends to do that too sometimes but most of the time I just eject my phone from iTunes if its not connected or I let it try to sync because I know it won't sync since my phone is not connected to any sort of power source.
You could always try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes if all else fails.

  • ITunes trying to sync old podcasts (and failing!)

I have a 30GB video iPod. Trying and it failing to sync with iTunes on MacBook Pro. Same problems happen with new shuffle so would seem to be an iTunes problem.
First of all it says some items in the iTunes library including xxxx were not copied because they could not be found. It then gives a list of OLD podcasts that I can't find in iTunes or in finder.
Is there a corrupt file that tells iTunes to look for old podcasts to sync with?
It gets so far and then says "attempting to copy to the disk yyyyyy failed. The disc could not be read from or written to.
However it is NOT an iPod problem. The same iPod will sync fine with iTunes on a windows PC and a Shuffle suffers the same problem with this MacBook Pro.
    TIA
    Dermot

Welcome to the Palm Support Community Emily, but I'm at a loss as to what you are asking...
What exactly is "the new operating system"?   Windows 7?   If so, what bit depth is it?  32bit or 64bit?
What is "that file" you're referring to that you think is a .dll?   Your Contacts and Calendar data?
What is "Outlook 7"?   Microsoft Outlook 2007?
If indeed you've just obtained Windows 7, and it's the 64bit version, there is a way to sync the TX via a wireless method - either BlueTooth or Wifi.
Please read the thread I wrote on "How to sync the TX and Vista64" at the top of this section.  It's very similar to Windows 7.

  • ITunes tries to download old podcasts

    Hi,
I have two computers (home and office) with the same podcasts subscribed to on both and the download setting is 'manually'. They both run on WinXP.
My office computer's iTunes works fine. I choose 'Update podcast' and it downloads the latest episode. No problem.
My home version though has suddenly gotten the dates wrong and when I want to update my podcasts it tries to download episodes from several weeks ago. Deleting the subscription and re-subscribing doesn't help.
I assume — but what do I know ? — that some file containing my podcasts list got corrupted. It somehow doesn't realize what the current date is and tries to download whatever episode was available when it got corrupted. And, yes, the date on my computer is correct.
If I am right, what file should I delete before resubscribing to my podcasts?
If I am wrong, has anybody got an idea about what's happening?
    Thanks for any reply.
    5th generation (60GB)   Windows XP

Sorry for the bumps but I'm still looking for an answer to this problem. Sad thing is that I can't think of any other related program that has this problem. I don't want to abandon iTunes but I may have no choice.

  • Why is iTunes trying to update

I have iPod Touch 2G and iTunes is asking to update to 10.5.  According to the Apple website, 10.5 does not support Touch models pre 2009.  Anyone any thoughts on this.
    Cheers.

I'd be grateful for any advice on this, as I'm concerned that iTunes is trying to get me to update to a version that is incompatible with my Touch.  Surely this shouldn't happen. Ta.

  • Why does iTunes tries to install iOS 6.1.3 instead of iOS7 in my iPhone 4s

I downloaded the iOS7 beta version from the developers website (my company is registered in the dev program) in my iPHone 4s.
When the finall version finally came out I started noticing issues with the battery (it drained too fast) and I read that doing a full restore helped with this issue.
But then when I try to restore my iPhone using iTunes it gives me an error saying that the resource could not be found. I then try to put the iPhone in recovery mode to 'force' the restore and then it does not give the same error but it tries to download the version 6.1.3 of the software which can't install either becuse it says the iPHone is ineligible.
    What do I do?

Now with 7.0.2 out heres the status.
    - iTunes says there is no update available and that 7.0 is the most up to date version (which is not).
    - If I click restore instead of update in iTunes, it again gives me an error saying that there was an error downloading the software.
    - If I force it by putting the device in recovery mode then It doesnt fail to download the software but it one more time tries to download version 6.1.3 and if I go ahead and try to install that, it says the iPhone is ineligible.
    - If I try to update the iphone from within iOS it fails as well.
Help me please, don't know what else to try.

  • Why has iTunes 12.2.2 stopped podcasts updating at all?

I have Mac and iTunes 12.2.2 . The podcasts in this new update cannot be updated. Some podcasts have been unsubscribed on my behalf and cannot be 're-subscribed' as much as I click on it. How can this be fixed? I thought the 12.2.2 was to fix podcasts?

I just looked and there are ten episodes available for purchase on Season 3. Maybe it makes a difference what country you are in but I am the US.

I have been trying to publish my podcast to iTunes with no success – I keep getting the following error message
We could not complete your iTunes store request. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later.
New to all this and would really appreciate some help.
    Thanks in advance
PS: I should say that I have an ITunes account - I have full permissions over the website etc. I am using Powerpress plug in on a wordpress site.

My guess would be that you've fallen over a glitch in the Store, in which case all you can do is wait a bit and try again, but it is only a guess. Without being able to look at your feed it's not possible to say whether there might be a problem there.

  • Why is itunes removing podcasts from my iphone?

I keep having things going missing from my iphone.
It backs up to both my work pc and my home one, but I'm having so many problems with the work connection.
For example today, I spent a good few hours downloading podcasts to my phone, I plug it in to charge it, and itunes has copied all the podcasts onto the computer and taken them off the iphone.
    Why???
I can't put them back on again because the iphone seems to be locked to only sync with my home pc (something that wasn't explained anywhere when I set it up).
I've had ipods for years but am finding having an iphone really frustrating. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong syncing-wise would be really appreciated.

For example today, I spent a good few hours downloading podcasts to my phone, I plug it in to charge it, and itunes has copied all the podcasts onto the computer and taken them off the iphone.
This can't happen when just connected to a computer to charge. This can only happen when syncing and if you have sync podcasts selected under the Podcasts tab for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on this computer. Disable sutstic syncing when the iPhone is connected to iTunes on this computer.
I can't put them back on again because the iphone seems to be locked to only sync with my home pc (something that wasn't explained anywhere when I set it up).
The iPhone does not support disk mode as is supported with most iPods, which is likely for security reasons that isn't a concern with an iPod. This means iTunes content can be transferred from a single computer only. Disable automatic syncing when your iPhone is connected to iTunes on your PC at work and don't sync your iPhone with iTunes on your PC at work.

  • Itunes/quicktime crashes when trying to play video podcasts and 3GP files

    Hello all,
I've searched these forums and didn't see anything that might help me, so if know of any solutions posted already, please let me know. I have an HP laptop(AMD Turion 64 X2 2.0 GB processor, 2 GB or RAM) running Windows Vista Home Premium. I used to be able to play 3GP files at one time with Quicktime, but now I cannot. Then, the other day I tried to play a video podcast and it starts to play, then says, "Itunes has stopped working". Quicktime does the same thing with 3GP files. This was before my update to Itunes 8.0. It happpened with Itunes 7.5.11.1 or whatever the last version was. It obviously does the same thing with Itunes 8. I've tried completely uninstalling Itunes and quicktime, then reinstalling them both and I still have the same problem. Just a note: I tried playing the video podcast via Windows Media Playey, and it worked fine, except for no audio(I don't think WMP has AAC support) so I think something is conflicting between Itunes and my computer. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?
From the notes for the release:
iTunes 10.6.1 provides a number of improvements, including:
    • Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view and syncing photos to devices.
    • Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes.
    • Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle.
    • Resolves an ordering problem while browsing TV episodes in your iTunes library on Apple TV.
