Why is latest version of Reader requesting sign in with an Adobe ID?

An Adobe ID was not required in the past to use Reader. Is there a way to disable the login prompt or am I going to have to tell everyone here that they need an Adobe ID now just to use Reader without being nagged?

Regarding the "why": Adobe Reader has become more tightly coupled with the Acrobat.com online services; that is why users are required to sign in with their Adobe ID.
So far I have not seen any method to disable this, but I will keep looking.

Try this:
Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
Empty the trash
Relaunch Safari. You can now download undamaged PDFs.

Clip notes no longer works with latest version of reader.

I understand that a security issue made Adobe upgrade Reader so that clip notes produced in Premiere CS3 would no longer play. This is a known issue. The fix is posted on this forum and it recommends upgrading to Premiere CS4. However I get the same problem as I did in Premiere CS3 i.e. clip notes is blocked by the latest version of Reader This has occured after spending a huge amount on the upgrade. Nice one Adobe what a con! I have tried to contact adobe customer support but I can not speek Punjabe and they can not speek English. What a waste of money!
Does anyone know of a fix.

I have made sure that the Administrator, which I assume is me, since this is a single PC, has Full Control access. What else can I do? I removed Adobe Reader and reinstalled it, with the same result.

I suggest that you run the cleaner tool http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
then download and run the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Latest version of Window 7 FireFox came with malware including Unico browser and tons of other malware. Mac version seems to be fine. Has anyone else seen this?

I have been using FireFox for awhile now on both a Mac and Windows 7 computer and have loved it. It has been updated to the latest version by your request many times in both formats with no problems; until now. The Windows computer just asked me to undate to version. I went directly to Mozilla.org and it had 'Firefox Setup Stub 37.0.1.exe. When I opened this, I immediately got a blast of more nasty malware and viruses than I had ever previously experienced. I deleted all those unwanted programs that had downloaded; removed all the malware and viruses. Firefox worked for a minute before all this different malware and pop-ups and viruses started again. I then repeated everything and also removed firefox and the PC worked fine with a different browser.
I then tried a second time to a different Mozilla site that included US firefox in the website name and started over. Same thing happened again. These unwanted programs included Unico Browser and dozens of other that are very nasty. If you click on anything, they download a dozen other programs. If you go to control panel and remove them, they download 6 or eight new unwanted programs. I finally got all the malware, viruses and pop ups removed when I also removed Mozilla Firefox. I can only conclude that the latest version for Windows is corrupted. Any thought or recommendations? For now, I am back to using a different browser on the PC.

Okay, so after doing all of the above, the computer still takes between 40 seconds and 1 minute or so to boot up, and the VersionCue messages still appear. However I discovered that the "kdcmond cannot retrieve..." messages disappeared after I disabled my ethernet connections. So at least I know that that had nothing to do with the extended boot-up time.
I have heard that the more RAM you have, the longer it takes to boot due to the RAM count. Since I have 10 GB, maybe this is why?

Latest version of Tiles appears not compatible with JSF 2

I have been doing java server faces for about a month now. In general, i very much like what I see. However, I found significant problems with Tiles. I have now spend about 8 hours trying to debug it. The book by David Geary and Cay Horstman have a whole section on tiles. However, the latest download of Tiles has changed significantly since the authors wrote the section. I have debugged and debugged to now I get the following in NetBeans:

My only conclusion is that the latest version of tiles is not compatible with JSF 2.

JSF + Tiles is not going anywhere. Most of the JSF components render at runtime whereas Tiles only works at compile-time. Tiles was designed to work with JSP not JSF, even though some people tried to use it for a while until they realize the big limitation.
Go and try JSF + Facelets. It'll solve many of your problems.

Which is the latest version of the ICP that works with TestStand 3.5?

Hello, I'm trying to use an Agilent MPS 6700B thru its IVI driver.
Accordingly to NI this driver needs ICP 4.1.
Does anyone know which is the latest version of the ICP that works with TestStand 3.5?

TestStand is usually forward-compatible with drivers. I highly doubt you'd have any issues using a later version of a driver, espcially something simple like IVI.

This Mac currently has Safari 5.0.4. Software Update shows a newer version of iTunes and of course the combo updater to 10.6.8 but nothing else. I imagine the 10.6.8 updater contains a later version of Safari but I don't now which version it is and whether it is backward compatible with older versions of 10.6. There are a number of newer versions of Safari: 5.0.5. 5.0.6, 5.1.1, 5.1.2, . . . 5.1.10 to name a few but would any of them work with 10.6.6? In a similar thread a guy asked a similar question to mine: he had 10.6.6 and wanted to upgrade to a newer version of Safari. He tried installing various versions but was rejected each time. He finally asked if there was any newer version of Safari that would install on 101.6.6 - but he never got an answer.
Software Update displayed a newer iTunes but no mention of Safari. I wonder if this indicates that the 5.0.4 Safari that I have is the latest version there is for 10.6.6. Anybodyknow for sure?

Photoshop asks for serial number even when I sign in with my Adobe ID

I have a Creative Cloud membership and I have installed Photoshop and Illustrator. Illustrator works fine, but when I run Photoshop it asks me to license the software. I sign in with my Adobe ID, but then it tells me to enter a serial number. I've tried reinstalling etc, it does not help.

Having International English-only as an option is a business/legal requirement for Europe.
I understand the frustration but it is difficult. If you sign up as a Free Trial user (so you have not yet paid for International English) which language should we default to? We default to the language of the operating system. Perhaps not perfect but a choice is made. And this works over 99% of the time, except for multi-lingual users whose OS is not set to English and choose International English-only. And yes I empathize as someone who can work fluently on both English and Japanese systems.
Any more feedback you have on how you would suggest to improve things please let us know. I will make sure that the feedback reaches the correct teams here.

DPS no longer supports CS5. You'll either need a copy of CS6, or will need Creative Cloud.
