Why is Mail creating multiple trashes of an email while I'm composing it? +++++

Hi Guys:
Mail has been doing weird stuff since I upgraded to Maverick. Today was a new one.
I was composing and email to a friend and went to find an old related one. In doing a serch for it. I discoverd that the e:mail I was now composing was in the my trash folder more then a dozen times. I had not trashed it. There were multiple copies of other emails in the trash as well. I emptied the trash folder completely and went back to composing the e:mail. There were four more copies of that e:mail in the trash folder by the time I sent it. It also shows in the sent folder only once though.
I just went into my Gmail on there webpage to see if I was getting multiple trashes there as well and I discovered I am not getting all my mail. There are three from yesterday. They just came into my inbox as I was keying this in. Perhaps because I checked on line.
Drafts not deleting: Since upgrading to Maverick, many messages that were sent are being saved to drafts and I have to manualy delete them.
Missing sent emails: Emails as the one above are disappearing. I know when and to whom I sent it. It isn't in any folder anywhere. This is not a first.
Computer painfully slow and erratic since upgrading. Particularly with mail.
Any one else seeing these issues?
Better yet how do I solve them short of a sledge hammer?
I have gone back to useing Pages 09 as the new one *****. I don't think I can do that with mail without losing all of my stored emails etc.

Back again. After I posted the last question. I went back into mail. It was real slow took 15mis to download a simple text couldn't figure out what was going on. I looked down at the activity window an it said recieving 480 of over 7thousand messages. ????? I had to force quite to shut it down. I don't have that many messages in my enitre Gmail account. Seems to have stopped.
What is going on with mail? What was beeing downloaded to my Mac Book?
Is this just one more Maverik issue?
I just downloaded Avast for Mac and am running a full systems scan. Just at the odd chance it might be a virus.
Help, please.

When you say
FROM    emp e
,       emp e1you are using two copies of the same table.
Can you imagine using two copies of the same book at the same time?
Say you see a word (like "hyrax") that you don't know. You might look up that word in the dictionary.
The English sentence "Open the dictionary to the page containing the new word." is like this SQL query:
FROM    dictionary
WHERE   :unknown_word BETWEEN low_guide_word and high_guide_wordWhat if you saw that word while reading a book (let's call it book_a).
You might want to leave book_a open, and place the dictionary beside book_a, so you can easily compare how the word is used in book_a with the definition in the dictionary.
This corresponds to joining two tables in SQL:
FROM    book_a
JOIN    dictionary ON unknown_word BETWEEN low_guide_word AND high_guide_word
WHERE   book_a.page = whatever -- NOTE: both tables have a column called pageor you can use aliases for one or both of the tables
FROM    book_a      a

I'm experiencing this issue also. Just one user where I work, Mail in 10.9.3 and Office 365. In-house users only receiving duplicate messages, i.e. the same message twice. Any idea why or how to fix this?

Why is mail creating folders on my mac AND my mail server?

strange things happening, please tell me i am not alone.
i have an IMAP account set up in mail
preferences>accounts>mailbox behaviors i have all unchecked except for 'move deleted messages to the trash'
everytime i open mail, or even while its open, all these mailboxes get created. i have an inbox inside my inbox, which has a deleted messages folder inside that. plus another deleted messages folder under the 'on my mac' heading in the sidebar. then there is another set of folders below that: deleted messages, drafts, sent and trash. what is going on here?
and to top it off, if i log into my mail server, there are two new folders, one called 'deleted messages' and another called 'apple mail to do'
i dont even know where to begin.... when i delete the folders, they keep coming back...
should i delete the 'mail' folder in the user library and the com.apple.mail.plist file and start over?

Hi Geoff,
It sounds like your mail service provider has created some default folders in your account e.g. sent, trash etc. Mail cannot know which folders to use so it creates it's own e.g. Apple Mail To Do, Deleted Messages.
If you look at the sidebar in Mail after you create the account, you should see a section (probably near the bottom) that has the name of your IMAP account. Click on the disclosure triangle and you should see the folders that your mail service provider set up for you. If you would prefer to use one of those then choose Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For > Drafts/Sent/Trash/Junk as appropriate. You will then find that the folders Mail created in the other parts of the sidebar get moved and replaced by the ones you selected. You can safely delete the folders created by Mail afterwards if you like (move any messages you want to keep first though).
Mail will still create Apple Mail To Do.
Finally, the INBOX within the INBOX sounds like you need your IMAP Path Prefix set properly in the preferences for your account. Put the words that appear in square brackets in there.

Why does mail create two folders for incoming mail?

i'm using the latest version of mac and i've set up a gmail (imap) account on mail. When i first created the imap account, all seemed in order, then after about 5 minutes of activity (i believe it was the moment i started composing my own email), Mail created a series of new folders under the standard "inbox, sent and junk" folders. There is now also a GMAIL tab there which has a bunch of subcategories like sent mail and junk and trash. when i receive new emails, they show up in both the default inbox and also in the gmail inbox. I'd rather just receive them in the default inbox because it looks like i am receiving double the mail and have to click both folders in order to mark the new mail as unread. any advice? hope i was able to bring my subject over clearly enough.

Welcome to Apple Discussions, janchy.
What you describe sounds like normal behavior to me. IMAP accounts create their own section in Mail's sidebar as well as sub-mailboxes in the standard mailboxes. If you see Sent/Trash/Junk as subfolders in the (white) Gmail folder, select each one in turn and click Mailbox menu > "Use this mailbox for...".

Why does iPhoto create multiples when importing pictures?

iPhoto version 9.6
I have a new MacBook and I am attempting to import pictures to iPhoto that were created by various devices - old digital cameras, scanners, iPhones. The original images import without trouble, however iPhoto is creating an extra THREE pictures for each ONE that I import. Please see the attached screenshot of my iPhoto after importing a few folders. Take for example the Bowl for Kids folder - you will notice that the original folder has 20 pictures, and it is followed by an additional folder with 60 pictures. The same situation is repeated for each folder. The additional folders all share the same name - "d312a08daf7d..." and have EXACTLY three times as many pictures as the previous folder. I have verified that the pictures contained within are indeed triplicates of the originals.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I did not import an existing iPhoto Library.
Starting with a completely empty Photo Library, I navigate to File > Import to Library and select a single folder (Bowl for Kids). This folder has 20 photos in it, however iPhoto imports 80 (20 originals and 60 multiples, as evidenced by the screenshot). I then repeated the process for the other two folders.
The photos shown in the screenshot were taken from various devices many years ago. None of the above were taken on an iPhone.
The photos reside on my MacBook hard drive under Users > Worgowan > Documents > Pictures and Videos. I chose to place them here to keep them separate from the native Pictures folder.
To answer an inevitable future question, here are some settings from my iPhoto Preferences.
> iCloud > My Photo Stream (OFF)
> iCloud > Photo Sharing (OFF)
> Advanced > Importing: Copy Items to iPhoto Library (OFF)
> Advanced > Edit Photos (In iPhoto)
> Advanced > Use RAW when using external editor (OFF)

IPad Mail Creating Multiple Connections with Server

I am trying to connect with my iPad Mail Client via POP3 to an externally hosted e-mail server. My problem is that the iPad apparently is trying to enable multiple connections to the e-mail server and the protection on the server then bans my IP as a suspected DOS attack. How can the iPad client be adjusted to disable it from making multiple connections?
And, is anyone else having this problem?

I found the solution. Fetch is set automatically and that is my problem. Need to change it to manual

Why has mail on the ipad grouped several emails from different people with different subject matter into one thread?

This is really annoying.
The email initially started with me sending to one person. Which we then conversed several times without any issues.
I then sent a separate email completely unrelated to someone on a completely different email address, but when they replied back somehow their reply joined the same thread as this other email i sent initially.
Thinking that it might be a one of... I ignored it.
However, just now, an email i created through the LinkedIn app, which i sent from LinkedIn to a contact, somehow joined that first thread, when the person on linked in replied back to me.
Obviously i receive an email to my Mail account whenever someone messages me on linked in... But why on earth would that reply automatically get grouped into the completely different thread of emails?
I NOW have emails to three different people who are completely unrelated with three completely unrelated subjects, that are appearing in one thread with no obvious way to separate these.
Any solutions or suggestions? I've tried to move them, but it will only let me move the the messages into different folders, and not my inbox as separate messages.

Thanks for the response. Regarding your question, Yes, I have confirmed that people were receiving multiple copies.
I've confirmed this as I had left a Gmail message open on my browser window and opened that same message from Mail: As I was writing the response from Mail, without sending anything, new notifications started to appear over the same message in the browser window, notifying me there were new messages from Myself! So when I started to open those "new replies", I came to the conclusion that as I was typing, a draft was being saved and sent as a new message at the same time, therefore sending a lot of emails until I finished to write the message without knowing...

Creating multiple records in a block while sitting in another block

Hey friends....I've 2 blocks in my form. Block-A contains producats A,B etc and Block-B contains colors like Black, Blue etc. I wish that when user selects 2 or more colors in Block-B and presses a button in that block, then each color should be assigned to each of the product with a (No.of colors x No. of Products) recods e.g if user entered 2 products A & B in two rows of Block-A and 2 colors Black & White in Block-B, then Product A should have 2 records with each color i.e Black and White. In the same way Product B should have 2 records i.e Product B with 1 record with color Black and 2nd record with color White.
Is there any body to accomplish this job?

Product table is not a Master/Detail because Product itself is not dependant on color at the time of creationMaster-detail means that you can create a master (Product) without any details (colors).
2 records for Paint with color Black and Red. And 2 records for Shirt with color Black and Red. So total 4 records will be created with a minimum entry from userDoing it that way will cause data-redundancy and possible inconsistences. I would go with a detail-table for Color-Assignments to products.
I created one detail block of products and anothers detail block of colors with check-boxesOk so far. Lets assume you go with the "Detail"-table for color-assignments to products, then you would:
- Base the Color-block on the color-table.
- Create an additional checkbox as non-dasetable-item.
- Create a POST-QUERY-trigger which check the PRODUCT_COLOR-table, if a record exists for the combination of color and product and sets the checkbox to checked or unchecked.
- Create a ON-UPDATE-trigger on that block, which does an INSERT into PRODUCT_COLOR if the checkbox is checked or an DELETE from PRODUCT_COLOR if the checkbox is unchecked.

Why is mail downloading all my old hotmail emails and how can i stop it?

I just got a new macbook pro retina and set up my mail accounts including my @hotmail.com address. (i did this on the standard mail app)
Now it's downloading ALL my hotmail emails on my macbook and marking them as unread.
I don't want this, how can I stop it from downloading thousands more old mails?

Do you have an app that is trying to download? If you have one it will constantly ask for your password until it is finished. (assuming you lost connection and it has to reconnect.)

Mail and Multiple User Accounts and Email Accounts

Hi there I want to be able to have two seperate pop email accounts, one for each of the two user accounts on my Mac mini but what is actually happening is that the primary mail account opens up within both user accounts and if you email the secondary account it arrives at the inbox for the primary one. The two pop accounts have the same ISP (NTL) and incoming mail server but different user names. I'd be very grateful for any suggested solutions!

When you check Mail preferences and select accounts, you should show only one account for each user. If two accounts show for both, the upper account is considered the primary, but all mail from all listed accounts will be available.
If you show two accounts, delete the account not belonging to the logged in person.

Mail Creating Accounts Differently

Hi, Everyone...
I'm having to rebuild my Mail accounts from scratch due to a corrupt database. Fortunately, most were IMAP accounts so I figured they would simply download properly as I created each new account (I have several accounts due to different work clients).
My question is why does Mail create each account with different folders/subfolders, etc.? For example, one account it created had the main account name with a pop-out arrow to the left which when clicked opens up and shows all the subfolders. This would be my preference. However, after adding 2 more accounts, they each created one folder at the top with all the subfolders way down at the bottom. In addition, some have "Deleted Messages" AND "Trash" and also another "Trash" folder under the Trash with the trash can icon! I just want ONE trash folder for each account, 1 spam folder for each, and 1 Sent folder for each - how do I accomplish this? And how do I make all the folders the same for each account? I'm attaching 2 screenshots (one is what is underneath the other - couldn't get it all in one shot) to show how it looks currently...
Thanks a bunch for any help with this! Since I'm having to "start over" I'd like to get it nice and clean.

Thanks for the info - I do realize that the actual folders created would be pulled down from the server - my point (and issue) is why are some accounts being displayed with the pop-out arrow with all the folders right there under the main account name - and others being split up into 3 sections and displayed all over the place like that?! That has to be coming from the Mail app itself since all my accounts are set up the same on the server... I would really liked them all to show up with the pop-out arrow so they're not separated like they are currently.

Why does firefox makes multiple profiles

My name is Mike from the helpdesk of YER.
We have one user with the same problem over and over again.
Our employees have a roaming profile with multiple browsers, but he uses Firefox wich is causing a problem.
There is a datalimit on our user profiles. The problem is that Firefox uses all the space from the user profile.
This causes a storage space error every two days.
To solve it, I open Firefox profile manager, multiple profiles are visible. So I delete the non-used profiles. But this is temporarily, because within a few days, the user contacts us with the same problem.
I also tried to move the profile to his documents with the profile manager to free space, also this didn't solve the problem because Firefox makes new profiles over and over again.
This user is the only one with this problem, and we cannot find a solution.
We thought maybe it has something to do with synchronisation between multiple devices, but he only uses his Firefox profile on his work computer.
I hope you can help me solving this problem. Maybe you can explain why Firefox is creating multiple profiles, or maybe we can change the Firefox profile path, for all the profiles incl. new ones that are created.

I also have been having this problem for way to long to the point I have removed Firefox so many times and have even completely wiped my computer out and did a factory full restore (which I am still upset about) .. NOW again i delete FIREFOX ... I go thru the computer ..hidden files and all and totally delete any and every thing the is related to Mozilla and Firefox.. including the OLD Firefox file it creates even if you do a reset... Now I have two issues.. when you restore a system,, you are given a complete NEW user profile,,, thanks to Firefox pulling from what must be your records.. EVERY past user ID that this computer ever had is back on my system and has permissions on important files under UNKNOWN USER.. and firefox has created tons of dupt files.. example ...I ran to see why system again was slow CCleaner disk analyzer and wow there is over 85,000 files created by Firefox which include duplicating all program files and over (I stopped counting after a certain number) thousands of c:\users\Robie\AppData\local\mozilla\firefox\profile\...\cache2 files every 4 minutes for since i reloaded.. and all system files (only important ones) and links to the old profiles that were infected and/or corrupt over 84k of this ...these are just under the OTHER catagory.. WHY is this repeating over and over

Can I create multiple folders with email on iPhone 4?

I want to create multiple folders on my email account with my iPhone 4 as you would on a desktop computer. I've sync'd my to it, but it did not create them automatically as I was informed it would. Is there a setting or procedure that I am overlooking?
