Why is mail sending out multiple messages

I have noticed that my sent mail has been sent numerous times

10.9 has many problems with Mail.app, I only have one POP account setup in it, but never sends duplicates.
Not much of an idea, but does this addy you're sending from have some aliases?
Is there any Group name involved?
If you just send to yourself does it send 5? If so Show Long Headers & look for the To: feild... might also do that on your Sent mails come to think of it... To: CC: & BCC:

  • Mac Mail sending out multiple e-mails

    Dear All,
My friend reports that today he is receiving 3 copies of every e-mail message that I send him.  I'm working on a Mac Pro, Lion 10.7.5, using Mac Mail through Yahoo, and I have only one account.  I have an iPod touch, but I have never sent e-mail through that device nor signed up for it on the iPod -- I only use my Mac desktop for sending and receiving e-mails.  Anyone else having this recent problem?  I never had it before today!  Thanks.

Are you sure it's the Mac sending out the spam, or just spam masquerading as coming from your email account (the From: line is ridiculously simple to forge)?
While it's clearly possible to devise a system to cause a Mac to send out spam email (or any other computer for that matter), it wouldn't be terribly efficient for the spammer.  Even when they take over zombie machines (and unpatched Windows XP systems are the favorites there) the spammer would prefer to use the machine to send out all kinds of email *AND* would attempt not to draw attention to the actual machine sending out the stuff.
That is, where it *appears* to be coming from will generally not be where it is coming from.
What malware prefers to do is "harvest" an address book from a user's computer (or, more often these days, from an online address book after phishing the credentials from the user) and then using that to send out emails to your contacts that look like they come from you so that they are more likely to be opened.  If that's what has happened, there's nothing you could do to the Mac at this point to get that data back.
Again, while it is clearly possible to harvest that data under either OSX or Windows 7 from your address book in either platform, it is considerably more difficult to do that than to go after your credentials for an online site using a phishing attack and then make use of the contact information.

  • Mac Mail sending out blank messages occasionally

    Hi
I am hoping someone can shed some light as I am frustrated.
A couple of months ago, we have been hearing back from people that our messags were blank, all that is readable is the subject line.
It doesn't happen all the time, but I am only made aware of this if a person replies back.  It has happened to me 4 times yesterday alone, not sure how many I am unaware off.
As we run a business we could be losing potential clients.  I have discussed this with apple who keep directing me back to our host, and they keep sending me back to Apple.   So I am having no luck fixing this problem.
We have been using the same host for the past 12 years never any issues and also have been using them since we convereted to Apple Mac 2 years ago.
If anyone else is having these issues, and if it has been resolved would love to hear from you.
    Thanks
    S

Can you reproduce the problem? If the answer is no, there's no hope of solving it.

why do my ical invitation acceptances send out multiple acknowledgements to the meeting intiator?

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
So we have DSL Modem <-> Base Station <-> Computer connected by Ethernet.
    Is the Modem Routing ?
Is the Base Station set to "Share An IP" ?
(i.e are there two DHCP servers on your LAN ?)
Is Internet Sharing On in th G5s System Preferences > Sharing pane ?
In the Base Station is Port Mapping Protocol Enabled if it is doing routing ?
It is in the NAT tab of the Internet Pane.
Is the G5 also doing WiFi to the Base Station ?
Also check the Modem is not Blocking PINGS as this log shows no PING (But I am not sure it even got that far)

  • I cannot send out text messages

I cannot send out text messages - I can receive them - cannot send them to a contact.
This contact has a multiple contacts ranging from gmail to facebook.  I deleted all the contacts and now the contact can receive my text messages.
I noticed a small x in a circle to the right of the contact's name. A red x in a circle would appear and say my text messages not sent. I would resend - nothing changed.
Does anyone know why this happens and how I can fix the contact so I can text without getting these messages.
The contact is not blocking me by the way - it is my spouse LOL
    Thank you

Thanks to draya06 for your response.
Please try deleting all text messages from this person and resend. Do you have a signature on your outgoing text messages? If so please remove the signature and retry. If these don't work please PM me and we will further troubleshoot this issue.
    Thank you

    Hello,
    Here is my 2 cents.
Oracle recommends you set the Oc4jCacheSize parameter to reduce the occurrences of MOD_OC4J_0087 and
related errors in your Apache error logs. To change this parameter, follow these steps:
    1. Stop the OPMN processes on the middle tier.
    2. On the middle-tier computer, open a terminal window and go to $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf.
    3. Enter the following command:
    cp mod_oc4j.conf mod_oc4j.conf.pre3604573
    4. Edit the mod_oc4j.conf file by adding the following line after the </IfModule> line, but before the
    Oc4Jmount /j2ee/* line:
    Oc4jCacheSize 0
    5. Start the OracleOPMN processes on the middle tier.
I would still suggest to analyze the stack trace further for exact issues.

  • Help!! My Droid is sending out random messages!!!

I'm not sure if anyone is having this issue with their Droid...  I have 3 email accounts (gmail, yahoo, and comcast).  For some reason, the Droid is taking messages received from Comcast and Yahoo and sending it to Gmail contacts.  I am unable to remove any of the email accounts from the from phone and I'm worried about personal information being shared to the wrong people!!

I am sorry to hear that your email accounts are sending out random messages. I have below listed some information that may help.
-I would recommend trying a soft reset on the device (removing the battery for a few seconds and placing it back in)
-I would also recommend turning the device off, and testing your actual email accounts outside of the phone. ***If the issue is still occurring, you know it is not the device that is having the problem and may need to address it with your email providers.
-I have listed the instructions below on removing the email accounts from your device (just in case). Click HERE.
***If it is only on the device that you are having the problem with, and you cannot remove the email accounts, I would recommend performing a hard reset on the device. (Please be advised that this will erase all information on your device, including Google account, system and application data, and downloaded applications). It will not erase SD card files and system bundled applications. Click HERE for instructions to perform a hard reset.
    Hope this helps!

plz help i need to know why i cannot send or recieve messages on other wifi connections

    What networks do not work?
It could be that the ports used are being blocked. See:
Using FaceTime and iMessage behind a firewall
Try using Google's  DNS with the other networks. When connect to those networks, go to Settings>wifi and change the DSN to 8.8.8.8

  • Multiple Process agents to send out single message

Is it possible for multiple Outbound agents to send out a single generic message? For example 2 AP BO's, Lead and Opportunity both would require to send out a generic message to another BO in  a different DU. If yes, how could this be acheived?

it use appleID for the whole communication model so you would  not be able to msg her using imassages as that would imply that you're sending yourself an message

  • How can I stop what appears to be a virus in my e-mail sending out e-mails

    Hi,
I keep getting undeliverable messages from my service provider. It seems I have some virus that keeps sending out some spam about winning money. It is going out to addresses I do not have in my address book or have ever dealt with. I'm not sure what to do or what software I can use to make these stop. Any help would be appreciated.

My machine sends them immediately with a prefix in the Subject line saying <RE: hi > then the original email title.
And you have verified that they are indeed being sent by your computer based on an analysis of tcpdump logs or Wireshark logs running on another "believed clean"computer on the same LAN? I would strongly encourage you to submit excerpts of these logs to the likes of Intego, MacScan, etc., if so. You haven't downloaded any freeware from sites of unverifiable integrity, right? Is your DNS settings directing you to the DNS servers that you think they are (perhaps rerouting your sent mail to a rogue smtp server)? In Terminal, type scutil⏎ then type show State:/Network/Global/DNS⏎ and make sure you recognize the IP addresses of the reported DNS servers. (type exit⏎ to exit scutil)
Spammers in Africa can't send their results immediately. Looking at the long headers of a spam returned to me, it's got the same routing info as me and was sent at the same time.
Why not? I doubt that there is some guy sitting there manually doing this with email messages, it is automated, and would probably take milliseconds to duplicate your email, append the canned spam message, and shotgun it back out onto the internet. I live in Colorado and I picked a random server in New Zealand and pinged it (don't trust even pinging anything in some locales). The results?
    myOldMac:~ jv$ ping {hidden}.org.nz
    PING {hidden}.org.nz (202.6.116.6): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN: icmp_seq=0 ttl=52 time=168.514 ms
    64 bytes from NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=167.807 ms
    64 bytes from NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN: icmp_seq=2 ttl=52 time=167.624 ms
    64 bytes from NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN: icmp_seq=3 ttl=52 time=167.954 ms
    --- {hidden}.org.nz ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 167.624/167.975/168.514/0.333 ms
That's only one-sixth of one second ... that's pretty fast.

  • Why can I send a text message from my iPad mini from my contacts?

I try to send a text message from my contact list on my ipad mini ,
the contact name comes up in pink.....Can you tell me why?

    Hi,
Because you are choosing an Contact ID (iPhone Number or Apple ID) that is either not registered or currently unavailable.
A iPhone away from WiFi connection may also be out of range of it's Cell/mobile Service. (Or Switched Off or in Airplane Mode).
An iPad may not be on a Wifi Network  at present. (or run out of Power)
You may know a Buddy's email and it may also be an Apple ID but that does not mens that they have "registered" it for iMessages.

  • Apple Mail sends out emails when turned on. Adress book creates groups of email addresses

I have had this issue with my address book for a while in that it creates new entries with just an email address as the actual entry and then hundreds of other email addresses from address book as this entry's additional email addresses.
At the same time I had an issue with Apple Mail that I thought was unrelated but now I am not that sure anymore. When I turn Apple Mail on, it sends out emails that look like an endless chain of responses (spam) to the same email that advertises  all kinds of stuff.
When I first noticed the issue I turned Mail off (a year ago). After updating to Lion I tried to use mail again but had the same issue and have not been using it since. But I appear to still find new entries in my address book all the time.
I ran some software (ClamX) but wasn't able to find any malware so far. I can't imagine someone hacking into my machine and doing all this my hand. For what?
So I am wondering whether anyone has had similar symptoms on their Mac?

Do you recognize the new entries in Address Book, or the contents of the messages?
