Why is Mavericks randomly logging me out of my account?
I've been using my 2012 15" MacBook Pro Retina as normal this morning after upgrading to Mavericks last night. Twice now the system has randomly logged me out of my account and taken me to the login screen. It's a similar experience to the old Apple version of the blue screen of death where the system just froze and you had to hold the power button to restart and hope for the best. It closes all of my apps at once and saves nothing. I log back in and have to start from scratch.
Anyone else experiencing this? I'm assuming it's likely an incompatibility with either one of my background apps or Parallels which I use for my work.
I'm having the same issue, it seems very specific to when Parallel's is running.

Why does mavericks keep logging me out
I installed Mavericks yesterday and I was working on an Adobe Illustrator file today for a client, and after 8-9 minutes Mavericks logged me out of the computer. When I logged back in, everything was closed, and my Illustrator was empty. Even though I saved the file prior to the log off I lost it. It then happened again a few minutes later, making me lose all my work AGAIN.
Thing is, when it logs me out, it doesnt even prompt me to save my work... it literally dissapears within a second and goes to the lock screen.
Some Safari/Finder windows seem to re-open by Illustrator doesn't? Not sure what to do.
Can anyone clear this up for me? As I feel really dissapointed Mavericks is doing this, and also - I doub't it's an Illustrator problem. It doesn't seem to add up why it would be only that app that doesn't save.here is a copy of EtreCheck on my system.
I have my suspisions about the application Contactizer Pro. The app is valuble but no longer supported and I have been unable to remove the items from startup..evn tho I have set it not launch at startup in preferences...
I do have another startup disc on HD4 for a slightly older OSX but that should not interfere with a sytem starup from my internal HD?

CS5 and OSX Mavericks: Why is my computer logging me out?
So I'm a telecommuting graphic designer, and everytime I'm meeting with my client and sharing my screen through Skype, my MacBook Pro (OSX Mavericks) keeps logging my out randomly.
I initially thought it was because I was using shortcuts in Adobe Illustrator that would force a logout, but when I looked in "Shortcuts" there was nothing that used the keys that my shortcuts were using.
Furthermore, the longer I would be on call with a client, the more frequent the logouts would become, at times that I was not using shortcuts on my keyboard.
It then occurred to me that it could be some of the trackpad shortcuts I was using... in particular the two finger swipe (which is back in a web-browser, but scroll within Adobe?)
Does anyone have any possible solutions? Any feedback is appreciated!

Check to see if you have an auto log out when your MacBook Pro is not in use for a certain amount of time. To do that, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Click the Lock and enter in your Administrator password, click the Advanced button in the lower right hand side of the window and a box will drop down to see if it is enabled. Uncheck that if you do not want it to log you out or change the time length to a longer time of inactivity.

Macbook Pro randomly logs me out (10.6.8)
Hello,
I have recently been having a problem with my laptop: while I am using it, it randomly logs me out. This means it quits all applications, which is getting pretty irritating as I am working on a big project!
Here are the specs:
MacBook Pro 15" 2.2 GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo
6 GB memory
320 GB capacity HD (with 30 GB of that free)
4 years old (bought in January 2008)
Please note: the system preferences are *NOT* set to log me out after any period of inactivity — and anyway, it happens while I am working, typing, etc.
I thought it perhaps could be due to the RAM upgrade I did, but I did that about 6 months ago, and this problem just started happening over the last month or so. Now it is happening several times a day.
Any ideas what the problem could be??
Thanks!!There could be a bug in the software.
do you still have your original install disc that came with your Mac?
If you do power off the Mac put the disc in the slot power up the Mac push in the disc and hold down the "C" key as soon as you hear the chime. Keep holding the C key till the gear stops spinning.
This will reinstall the OS leaving all your data in place. You will then have to do a software update.
Some of your preferenes migh have to be reset. If the problem still persist, I would look at third party software. -
I just bout a W520 and it acting werid recently. It will randomly log me out to the login screen for unkown reason. Why does the forum log me out so quickly, requiring me to re-enter my ID & password all the time? When I reply to a post I also have to re-enter both items. Even my online banking is saavy enough to reconnize me and autofil my ID.
It works for me. This looks like some browser issue. Try Clearing browser cache and signing in again.
Please move the post to Forum issue from Photoshop Express.

Why does FB keep logging me out of my iPhone
Why does FB keep logging me out after a few seconds on my iphone6?
Hi beachgirl27,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you mean that the Facebook app itself is crashing or closing shortly after selecting it, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:
iOS: An app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

Hitting the "x" to close safari logs me out of my account
I'm having this issue on my macbook pro with the most recent update of safari. I can browse safari for hours, but when i hit the "x" to close a window, it freezes and logs me out of my account. I've gotten used to it by being able to close safari from SAFARI> QUIT SAFARI in the menu bar at the top. I'd like to see if i can find the issue. it is getting old. if i have a pop up, i have to minimize it, instead of closing it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I've searched around, but haven't heard or seen anything quite like this. It is not a timing issue; only when i hit the "x" to close a window.
ThanksPlease read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2. -
My MacBook Pro randomly logs me out and in. HELP!
My MacBook Pro 3.1 (late'07) is randomly logging me off when it is under load. Like running Lightroom, Safari stuff like that.
It also happens, when the MBP is running for a couple of hours and I play a video in VLC or Safari and maximize it.
The display turns all of the sudden blue (the blue you see, when you start your Mac), logs me off and instantly on.
All Programs are closed, no work is secured.
It's like his problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgCccEXLsrE
But mine occurs more randomly
In another forum someone said that the WindowServer could be the problem. But I can't find any solution.
Reinstalling the system did not change anything
Another symptom was also a flickering display (both, the external and the build in) and a total freeze.
I don't think that it runs to hot because the MacBook is on a stand and it has also happened in winter.
The Logic board has been exchanged twice because of the Nvidea GPU failure.
Please Help!Yep! It's' a known problem I'm afraid, very common indeed with that card. Nothing that can be done AFAIK.
I would be getting my soldering iron out if I were you -
Why does I-Tunes log me out after 15min of play?
I've got 2 profiles set up on the mac, and when the non admin profile is logged in, when i-tunes is running, after 15mins of playback, the profile logs itself out...
i've checked and the mac has been set to never go to sleep, the screen saver is not due to come on at all and the display has been told never to go to sleep.
any suggestions?Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
In the Console window, look under the heading DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION on the left for crash or panic reports. If you don't see that heading, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". It may be under either of the two subcategories, "System" and "User." A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic".
Select the most recent of each and post the entire contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post any other kind of diagnostic report, such as a hang log — they're very long and not helpful. -
Why can't I log-in to my Apple account from my IPhone or desktop
This post has nothing to do with operating/understanding my IPhone. Rather,it's about my Apple ID.
I've been trying since "time immemorial" to log-in to my Apple account from my desktop and IPhone. Impossible. Everytime I try from my desktop, it says the ID or password is incorrect. When the Sign-in page opens, my default email is already there. When I type in a password, it always says the ID or password is incorrect. If I click on Forgot Password, the next page show Email and Answer security question options to reset the password. I've selected the Email option about 6-7 times in the last 24-36 hours. So far, I've not received an email with instructions on resetting my pasword. Nothing in my spam folder either. If I select the security question option, the next page comes-up and says Your session has timed-out. Try again. A couple of times, it took me to the two security questions, I answered them and it says the info doesn't match what Apple has.
If I click on Create an account, as soon as I enter my ID (email address), it says that ID is already in use. If that is so, WHY am I not receiving the emails, on how to reset my password, that Apple supposedly has sent?
I've also tried to log-in to the ITunes store, from my IPhone, to download a free app and I get the same thing - ID or password incorret. I managed to be able to log-in to the ITunes store from my desktop without any problems.
What I'd like to know is, what in h___ do I have to do to be able to log-in to my Apple account from my desktop and IPhone?
I'm at the point that I'm going to just get rid of my IPhone and go to Samsung. I'm sure I would get better service, support wise, from them.
Any suggestions appreciated.
BTW FYI I had to create an entirely new id/password in order to be able to get into this forum.Hi
Thanks for the replies.
Sorry I did mean to say Hub I know about the Hub working without being logged in its just that:
A) when I contacted BT (last Friday) they said that the order had not completed yet.
B) Because of logistics I needed to set up the wifi as soon as I could (its a long story) and something told me to get registered before I tried the Hub in case I had a problem getting connected.
I have tried to contact BT again today and have been on "HOLD" for at least 2 hours finally when I got speak to someone I was told he would have to connect me to a colleague then put me on "HOLD" for 15 minutes then when I was connected to his colleague after telling him all the problems I was cut of I thought that the guy would have had the decency to phone me back but NO so I had to go through all the rigmarole of waiting to try and speak to someone again after being on "HOLD" for 45 minutes I spoke to a lady who said that the problem had been passed to the technical team and that the gentleman I spoke to on Friday should have told me 2 working days and not 48 hours.
The nice Lady said that I should hear something tomorrow (Tuesday) personally I am not taking any bets on it.
Why do these company's like BT promise the Earth and deliver nothing if some one from BT had the decency to return a call and say sorry the problem is being looked into I could have accepted that.
Had a problem with BT in the past when a unknown trailer became dislodged from the towing vehicle the trailer then felled the Telegraph pole carrying our line when we contacted BT to report the "fault" they said they would run a check on the line, they then said the line was working fine and that there was no problem???
Had to wait 28 days for the pole to be replaced.
DS I will go with your idea and send the details to the modarators.

My Mac keeps logging me out of my account
It started this morning immediately after I turned on my Mac Pro. I have 3 accounts on the MP, and I logged in to my usual account, after about one second, after the desktop loads etc, it logs me out automatically. This keeps happening. I am able to log into the other 2 accounts on the same Mac with no problem. Unfortunately, the bulk of my work is in the account that keeps logging me out automatically.
I have reset my PRAM, fixed and repaired disk permissions etc. to no avail. Any suggestions? You probably have a login item or something set to load when you log in that's causing the issue.
I'd try a safe boot. Power off, then on, when you hear the chime, hold the Shift key. Release it when you see the spinning gear. This boot takes longer than normal because it clears your font caches and runs a disk check. It'll take you to the login window. Log into your account. One of the advantages of a safe boot is that it disables login items, so if you can log in successfully with a safe boot, go into System Preferences > Accounts, select your account, select the Login Items tab on the right, and remove any login items. Reboot (normally this time) and make sure all's well.
You can also look in Console to see what is crashing, that will helpfully allow you to narrow it down to a specific app or process. -
Why did my Mac sign me out of all accounts?
Last night on my Mac a window randomly popped up telling me to re-sign into iCloud for iMessage. I thought that was a little strange. I woke up today to find I was also signed out of my Evernote and Chrome applications. It seemed to only be desktop applications that were signed out since I was still signed into Google within Chrome. However my Dropbox and Google Drive desktop applications were still signed in, but those only run in the background so I'm not sure if that's the difference. What could have caused my Mac to suddenly sign out of multiple accounts all at once? Is it just something OS X does after it has been a long intervals as sort of a refresh? (I'm the only one who uses my computer.)
Can you open any other iPhoto pics? I'm assuming you have it set for automatically checking for iPhoto software updates and you have the latest version. If not go to iPhoto menu and Check for Updates. What camera and how big are the files? Do you have a backup? Lastly, this is from the iPhoto Help menu. I wouldn't do it unless I had a backup.

Why does my Mac log me out in the middle of my work?
I am running a 15-inch mid 2012 MacBook Pro. It has a 2.3 Ghz Intel COre i7, 16 GB og 1600 Mhz DDR3 RAM, and is currently on OS X 10.9.3. Randomly throughout my work day in the middle of whatever I am doing the computer will freeze momentarily, then log off. It doesn't restart, just goes gray, then asks me for my password to log me back in. It's very frustrating.
I've kept a log and this usually happens 2-3 times a day. The programs I usually run are Chrome, Mail, Calendar, my VM (Fusion), Skype, Terminal, Notepad, Messages. Of course I open other programs throughout the day, but these are usually the ones that are open at the time of the log out.
I've done the Apple Hardware Test (Press D during startup), and I've reset NVRAM. I've attached the output from EtreCheck below. Outside of an outdated Flash player I don't see any alarms:

I'm also running two extra monitors. One is connected via Thunderbolt and the other by a DVI-USB external card. I'm not sure if that is relevant. Any ideas? Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
