Why is Mozilla allowing Webtrends to run a tracking script on https pages?
Ghostery now shows me that Webtrends is running a tracking script on this page, while the address bar shows that this is a "secure" page. Doesn't a tracking script make the "s" redundant?
The Webtrends scripts run on all Mozilla pages that I've looked at while using Ghostery, including the sign-up, log-in, and donation pages. Java scripts can be made to collect any information from a web page; how does Mozilla ensure that sensitive user information isn't being collected by Webtrends? Webtrends apparently prevents Ghostery from displaying the source code, which suggests that there may be something in the code that Webtrends doesn't want users to know about.
I've saved a page and the scripts look to me as though they may be intended to collect names and user id's, but my knowledge of Java is quite limited. Does anyone at Mozilla check those scripts to ensure that the scripts are collecting only the information used by Mozilla?

I've been using Firefox for about a decade now, and I've always preferred it to the built in IE software. However, for the last year (or more) I have suffered more and more issues with your browser than ever before (being redirected from trusted pages to BS like www.updateselfnet.com, virus installers launching any user input, Flash player failures 3/4 times I try to watch a video).
It seems to me that mozilla is okay with providing a compromised browser, and I can only assume that being paid by internet companies to help push their malware or advertising software is more important than providing a "safe browsing experience".
I'm looking for a browser that works more effectively with actual anti-virus software, and delivers on the user experience that is promised. Maybe an actual pop-up blocker built in would be fantastic (rather than saying it blocks pop-ups, while allowing 75% of them to ruin my day).
Looking forward to a response. I'm hoping for more than "We promise we don't allow 3rd party organizations to piggyback their unwanted software on our browser, we deny any culpability or responsibility for anything happening to you using our software, thanks for the support".

once you have malware running locally on your machine it's pretty much game over, such software can alter the behaviour of any program and your operating system. a browser is not build to defend against that - it should contain safeguards against vulnerabilities that can be exploited remotely though, so you can't be infected by just browsing a malicious website.
what you should do if your firefox is affected by adware/malware are the following steps:
# [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
# afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
# run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] that are specialised in browser hijackers and to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

I called Apple Support and we cleaned out all the caches. The error now does not appear when I use Safari, only when I use Firefox.
Such an error caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Running a Powershell script via IIS on client machine

I have a Powershell script that I want to serve to clients that will access my site.
The script is simple - it will terminate Outlook and Communicator and restart in Cleanfreebusy mode.
Researching this has noted that there is an IIS plugin that will allow the running of Powershell scripts?
I would like to ask you, colleagues, is there a way I may be able to do this? That is to allow my clients run this Powershell script without downloading locally.

I haven't heard of a plugin so maybe there are other ways, but what I actually had to do, was create a batch file, and than on my webpage I added an IFrame

Than either in the html markup you can set the src attribute (I did mine in the code behind), to the directory where the file is at, so for instance \\myserver\fileishere
Obviously the location needs to be shared and allow all users read/execute. This will display the file on the web page, and then the users, just double click it and it executes.
You can possibly have a batch file that calls powershell and the script, but the script will need to be downloaded to the users machine, so it may be easier to find a batch equivallent of your powershell script and use DOS commands

My proxy server software won't allow Firefox to run. Why?
I have VPN4ALL proxy software for connecting to the internet. I use Google Chrome as a browser. I have an HP laptop computer. I have downloaded the Foxfire software. When I try to run the Foxfire browser, a window pops up and says that my proxy system won't allow it to run.
The VPN4ALL tech people said to start Firefox and go to Tools>Options>Network Tab>Settings>Auto Detect Proxy>OK> OK and try again.
I didn't find this string on Firefox's drop down window. Now what?Have you tried uploading by drag and drop to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites?
You will lose features like hit counter, blog and photo comments etc by doing this. -
Why would you allow firefox to update computer web-browsers if you have an idea that it will no longer work after the update? And why would you not include instructions for, how to fix the problem? Help Please! Can I go back to the old one?

I do not work for Mozilla but I do have experience of releasing software for public usage.
Firefox has no way of knowing what other software is already on your computer and with millions of combinations it isn't always possible to test for every scenario.
You can go back to the old version of Firefox but that won't always solve your problem.

Why is Mozilla shutting down by itself ?
Why is Mozilla shutting down bt itself. I seem to happen about every 24 hours. It just shuts down for no reason and has to be re-started.
What exactly happens and do you get any error messages ?
Is it the whole computer that shuts down or just the Firefox browser ?
Quite a few possible reasons but two are
# The computer overheats.
# You run out of memory
If your computer has a variable speed fan you will probably note that running at high speed, if you are in danger of overheating. Software is available that will monitor and check temperatures. Dust build up or obstructed ventilation are possible causes, & probably noticeable if watching videos.
Firefox or the computer may crash in some circumstances if there is no more available RAM memory or HDD space. That is probably more likely to cause a Firefox crash rather than the whole computer crashing. -

If you install a program then elevated (Administrator) permissions are needed and Windows will ask you to confirm.
If it happens all the time if you start a program then you need to check the Compatibility tab in the Properties of the shortcut via the right-click context menu and make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected. -

When I start mozilla firefox web browser, sometimes I see a message saying that "a Mozilla Firefox is already running, please close it or restart your system". As a matter of fact, there is no firefox browser running at that time. Since I cannot do anything about it, I have to restart my computer before I can use the web browser, which bothers me dearly. They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

Premiere is very slow to export when title is added
Hello. I have a 60 second piece of media that is the header for all my exports. It consists of 30 seconds of bars/tone, 27 secs of a moving clock and then 3 secs of black. It was supplied as MXF OP1a and is 376 MB. On each export I overlay text to th
