Why is my AirPlay buffering so slowly?
It takes over 20 min for a video on my iPad 2 to buffer to my ATV 2. Any ideas? It's not a wireless strength issue and I'm using a new airport extreme.
Could you provide some detail on what is running slowly?

what a long post....Apple, btw, does not read this stuff, so ranting, raving, and complaining here might make you feel good, but it does no good at all. That being said, I, too have a Mac Pro Quad Core Xeon with 6 gigs of ram and an nVidia 8800 GT graphics card (not as good as yours, alas) and I've had no problems at all with it. Yes, it doesn't have Thunderbolt, but maybe we Mac pro owners will get lucky and someone will come out with an adapter (probably not). No, you probably don't have to throw away your Mac Pro, but if you do, I'll take it, for a small "recycling" fee >:-) That was a joke. Yes, the Mac Pro's future isn't quite clear, YET. Hopefully that will improve very soon. As for not being able to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Don't worry about that too much, Nobody is forcing you to do that. Your Mac Pro won't quit working if it isn't installed. From what I've heard, you should give the new OS a chance, and wait to get it, in case there might be some bugs, or stuff not working with the new OS, which has been known to happen. Yes, we Mac Pro owners don't like being treated like mushrooms-kept in the dark, and being fed......... but Apple is Apple and it will do what it does, and there is nothing you or me can really do to change that. All I can say is....trust, have faith, be patient, go for a walk, do something else to take your mind off of this problem. IF apple decides to drop the Mac Pro for good, and that's a big "IF", I think they will anger a whole bunch of people

If you have security software installed you can try to delete all existing entries for Firefox and its sub processes in the different configuration modules and try to fully trust/allow Firefox afresh. Why is my iMac running extremely slowly??
My mid-2010 iMac has been running excrutiatingly slowly over the past few months, with the spinning beachball popping up any time I click on anything at all. I started in SafeMode and the problem disappears, leading me to believe it might be a software issue. I've turned off all startup/login processes but am still having the same problem. that you have installed. Please follow the developers instruction for uninstalling Avast and I'm willing to bet your performance will return. Not only is antivirus software for OS X unnecessary it takes up valualble system resources, tends to create more problems that it solves and hurt the overall performance. The best solution for keeping your system safe from the extremely small amount of Malware out there is to use a small amount of common sense. First is keep your system up-to-date by running Software Update regularly, do not download anyting that says you MUST download it and avoid illegal torrent sites. -

Intego VirusBarrier can have a significant negative impact on system performance. I don't generally recommend it, and would recommend uninstalling it.
Also, having two different apps with active anti-virus components installed is never a good idea, and note that this hasn't prevented you from being infected with the Spigot adware. You probably got infected with this by downloading software from somewhere like Download.com. (See Boycott CNET’s Download.com.)

IOS8: why is the airplay icon missing from embedded web video players?
Can someone explain to me why the airplay icon that used to reside in the lower right hand corner of videos played inside safari or youtube or amblify is now gone? The only way I can use airplay is to mirror my whole phone from the control center which is kind of annoying. not to mention instead of my photos screensaver passing through when using amblify with my stereo and philips Hue, my guests have to look at the control panel for amblify. This is extremely annoying, is this a glitch or is this how iOS8 is supposed to function? ?f I am reading an article on my phone and I come upon a video related to the article its a lot easier to press that button than to have to mirror the whole phone from the control center . . .

In iOS 8, the AirPlay icon () should still appear in the lower right hand corner of videos you play on your iPhone. This function is not currently working as expected on your device, and I know that causes frustration.
To troubleshoot the situation, I recommend the steps in this article:

Probably because your Internet connection is too slow. What speed is your connection? Your computer is running much faster than your connection can provide the movie data.

In addition to the suggestions by Amilixkan, are you using the charger that came with your iPad? An iPhone charger will charge an iPad, but much slower. Another trick is to turn the device completely off (hold down the sleep wake button until slide to power off appears, then charge it with the device off.

Could be several issues .... First, how much empty space do you have on your hard drive? You need 5GB, min, and 10% to 15% of total capacity would be better.
Bring up Disk Utility (on your hard drive in applications/utilities), and repair permissions. Also, do a verify disk. Does the verify disk say everything is OK or does it identify any problems? If it does, fish out either your original OS X disks that came with the system or a retail OS X version, boot, and using Disk Utility (loaded from the menu bar utilities) select your internal hard drive and do a disk repair. Does that complete normally, or with a 'failure on exit' message?
Do that and post back with results. -
