Why is my apple tv unable to set network time?
How do I get it to correct this? I have rebooted ATV and also my router (which I unplugged everything from the router). I recently had a long term power outage in my area. (5 days)

Yikes the exact same thing just happened to me when updating my Apple TV just now. It's totally bricked. Did you find a fix?

Unable to set network time and date
My Applet TV2 is unable to set the network time and date making it so I cannot login to my itunes account so not Netflix or anything making it pointless. I have tried adjusting my router settings (although I've used the same router for over and year and this just started randomly) I have ensured Port's 123 are open, I've restored the ATV2 4 times and have reset my router. I've seen links showing how to use SSh to set the time but I'm unsure if that will work. Any help is appreciated as I'm at a loss at this point
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Of the things I've seen work for people in the community you seem to have done most of them, but did you try these.
Restart Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a moment or two.
Ensure that the DNS address's used by the Apple TV and the router are the same and are the address recommended by your ISP. -
Apple TV. setting network time
MMy school's wifi network demands that I log in before using, and Apple TV tries to set network time before I log in. How can I set network time after I log in to the network. I don't seem to see a menu item for this.

Apple TV is asking me to set network time. how to do this?
Apple TV is asking to set network time. How is this done?
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router.
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If this is a new Apple TV, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123. -
Apple TV unable to join network without creating a profile.
I am trying to connect my Apple TV to the WiFi network at my university. There are several networks. When I try to connect to the main network which I connect my laptop to, it says I must create a profile. I followed the steps on the Apple TV support website to create a profile but it was unable to be installed on my Apple TV because of two errors which said that it was unable to activate the profile. When I try to connect to the other two networks, it says that the connection is successful but is unable to set the date or time and is otherwise unable to perform any functions that require internet. I am not able to restore my Apple TV because it says I need to install the latest update first, which requires internet connection. I have tried resetting the Apple TV multiple times.
If the school network requires login via webpage then that will not be possible. You will need to speak to the IT dept in order to get onto the network.

Apple TV stuck on setting date & time.
Hi Guys
Couple a weeks back my Apple tv remote stopped working( i havent tried to change battery yet).
But i paried it with my iphone - remote app. And it was working fine, So i dint bother with the remote.
I use the time capsule as my wifi device. Yesterday for some reason it had to be reset so the name and password had to be changed.
and since then my Apple tv screen is stuck on Setting date & time. And on the iphone it is not able to find apple tv on the remote app.
So i am not able to press the menu button to enter the apple tv and use it.
Not able to reset it also, since remote is not workin.
Is the only option getting micro usb cable and factory restore ???
Please help guys... Cheers..Hi, Katie.
I had this same issue and what worked for me was power cycling my wireless network and the Apple TV. However, if the issue persists, here are a couple articles that will walk you through troubleshooting this issue.
Apple TV: Basic troubleshooting

Apple TV: Troubleshooting wireless connections

If the steps in the article above do not resolve the issue, then a restore may be needed.

Com.apple.parentalcontrols.keychain error setting up Time Machine
When setting up Time Machine I encountered an unexpected error:
"writeconfig wants to use the "com.apple.parentalcontrols.keychain.5nqyke" keychain. Please enter the keychain password."
This was reported back in 2010 in this post:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2554426?threadID=2554426
If you have encountered this same frustrating error, I can provide a fix, read on.
It was determined that this is an issue with code leftover from a Norton Antivirus software that had been uninstalled but left this problem, which is that this keychain password was created by Norton in the background, and you the user never saw it or even knew it existed, and therefore cannot enter it. For some reason Time Machine finds this insurmountable. It is not possible to use Time Machine until this hurdle is overcome.
At that time users tried various fixes to get rid of this code and only one drastic one was noted to be effective. I tried several relatively easy suggested but unproven fixes which did NOT work, including:
Run the Norton Uninstall program that came with the software
Obtain and run the RemoveSymantecMacFiles program available at: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080427024142EN_En dUserProfile_en_us
Run Disk Utility to repair permissions and then again to repair the disk
Install Clean My Mac and run it
So I tried the drastic solution which DID work, which was to reinstall the OS as follows:
Back up important files (using something other than Time Machine, since Time Machine is not yet working)
Boot the iMac from the Mac OS X install DVD
Re-install the OS X from the Install DVD
Restart the iMac and go through the software updates (in my case, back to 10.6.8 Snow Leopard)
Open Time Machine preferences, select the desired target disk, and you will get past this barrier and can use Time Machine easily.
This worked for me, so I'm all set. I post this in the hopes that:
- users who encounter this same issue will find this fix helpful
- Apple and/or Symantec will find a way to determine the root cause of this issue and address it so no one else has to deal with itHey there,
See if this older thread can help you out.

39L4363D - Unable to set padding time for recording start and end time
Hello,
I have a problem with my 39L4363DG tv (Software 7.1.90.34.01.1).
I'm not able the set padding time for recording start and/or end time as described in the [manual|http://www.toshiba-om.net/LCD/PDF/English/L4363-323950-English.pdf] on page 51. Both menu item "start padding time" and "end padding time" are disabled?
Can anyone help me and give me an advice on how to solve it?Hi
The padding time can be set for programmed recording.
There is also an scheduling priority
If scheduled time slots are next to each other and there is more than one minute between the end time of the first schedule and the start time of the next schedule, programmed recording will be performed correctly.
When +Start Padding Time+ and +End Padding Time+ are set, the start time and end time will be the time plus the additional minutes.
If scheduling times overlap, priority will be given to the programmed recording which starts first.
When the programmed recording that started first ends, recording will switch to the next scheduled programme.
At this time, depending on how far the scheduling times overlap, the beginning section of the next scheduled programme may not be recorded. -
Set network time via script or terminal command
Hi
We are trying to set our computers to the network time at login. We tried modifying the MCX time via workgroup manager but that did not work. I have used my old script/command I used for 10.6 to set our 10.8 machines to the network server but it says command not found. Been googling to find a command/script that works for 10.8 but so far unsuccessful finding a solution.
This is the script/command I used:
# Set time zone and time server.
$systemsetup -setusingnetworktime on
$systemsetup -settimezone America/New_York -setnetworktimeserver time.apple.com
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
CheersWhy does having the System Preference in Date & Time set to automatically set the date and time from the Apple servers not work for you?

HT202157 setting network time and date
What are the issues involved in setting the time and date on AppleTV? Is this a network issue?
P.C. was mentioned earlier so I will jump in and assume Windows....
If the system is (made) a member of a Window administrative domain then all this is already in the box, and should be part of a well managed system (I have managed it on a workgroup as well, see the articles below for details). It's one of the things I try to promote as we often have systems switched on for hundreds / thousands of hours and knowing when some guy accidently switched it all off is realy usefull It helps with problems / events that occur outside our control and assists tracking down problems and stops drift / skewing of data.

Windows 2000 cannot set the correct time when it connects to multiple NTP servers

The time service is included on Windows XP as well. For NT4 there is / was a toolkit that allows operation from Microsoft.
Use the command NET TIME /? (on W2K and XP)
Either way you will come accross problems at the firewall if you want to get to an external time source. Unless you have on of those nifty little black boxes that pick up a radio signal from one of the available time sources.
I like Dennis Knutsons idea because you can't always get IT's attention, sometimes they need a little help, thanks again Dennis for another good tip. -
How to set network time
You can't set it manually, it requires access to the internet server in order to do so. It is currently having trouble connecting; make sure location is set correctly via settings, DNS should be set to automatic (settinga - general - network), ensure port 123 is open on your router. Router needs to be up to date, reboot ATV and router.

I only sign in to iTunes' store about once a week or so. But during each of my last 3 attempts (on different days, several days apart) on my first attempt to enter my password and hit submit, I am immediately told that my Apple account has been locked for security reasons and it wants to take me to a page to reset my 'forgotten' password. I am using the CORRECT password.
Perhaps someone else is trying to break into my account or is mis-entering theirs but my account should not be getting locked like this. It is very frustrating to have to go through the reset password procedure each and every time I want to go into the store. It seems to me that Apple really doesn't want me to buy any more apps from them as they keep refusing me entry into my own account, each and every time I have tried to use it, for the past few weeks. I am not their best customer, but they aren't giving me much of a welcome invitation to become one, if I'm going to be treated like this.
I just bought my iPhone 4 less than 2 months ago. I paid extra money to upgrade early, just to get this phone because it was so highly recommended by everyone I spoke with in different stores (BestBuy and Verizon). I even bought the 2 year upgrade to my Apple services in case I needed to ever call them, and so far I haven't had to, yet. But I definitely will call them if this isn't straightened out.
It looks like this other user could be tracked and an email could be sent to them from Apple to let them know what they are doing - trying to sign into the wrong account, and are locking somebody else out of their own account because of their error....and to remind them of their correct information or how to get it and to write it down or save it somewhere so they don't keep on doing this.
I have seen literally DOZENS of other people in these discussions with exactly the same issue that I'm having so it is NOT an isolated incident, and it seems to be a growing problem as Apple's sales and user base continues to grow, so this problem is seriously needing to be addressed in some way, and soon, before they start losing new customers because of it. If I was still within my original 14 day return period with this phone, I would definitely be returning it and buying an Android model because of how frustrating this is to me. If my bank was doing this to me, I'd have already switched banks by now if they hadn't fixed it - just to give an example of how I feel about this. For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
Thanks for listening,

Airport utility unable to set up Time Capsule Configuration
Hi. I need to reconfigure my TC. It has a orange blinking light and when I try to access it with Airport utility, it sees it but will not set it up. I get a error 'An error occurred while reading the configuration. Make sure your Apple wireless device is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-6753)'
I have tried to access it wireless and via an ethernet cable. Have reset, pulled the power cord & reset, rebooted everything just can not get Airport utility to set it up.
Also it cannot update the firmware to 7.4.1 it just hangs for hours.
Was working fine until recently.
Any Ideas anyone?
KWelcome to the discussions!
Power down both the TC and your computer for at least 30 minutes. Then restart and see if AirPort Utility can "see" the TC using an ethernet cable between one of the LAN ports on the TC and your computer.
You may also need to do a complete reset as follows:
Pull the power cable from the TC
Hold in the reset button and CONTINUE to hold it in as you plug the power back in
Release the reset button after 10 seconds.
If this procedure does not allow you to "see" the TC, the unit likely has experienced an internal electrical failure and will need to be serviced or replaced. -
Whenever my router resets I am not able to set the date and time on my Apple TV. It just reads that it is setting the date and time but it never does! I tried resetting it, but that doesn't work. Sometimes it works after a day or so, but now it still has not set after 2 days. Has anyone else run across this?
