Why is my battery life getting worse on my ipad?

The battery life of my ipad has begun to slump pretty bad. I am not using it any more or less than I always have but for some reason, the battery seems to drain faster than it ever has. Any thoughts?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • Battery Life getting Worse

After the upgradtion on iOS 6.1 in my iPhone 4s Wi-Fi greyed out and now my battery life getting worse. Earlier it was 2 days minimum in Standby and now its even can't stay for 7 hours, which is really horriable. Someone battery doesn't stands for a day even less than a day how come he survive
Its really disgusting service and apps whatsoever Apple is doing for their valuable customer.Apple is just to stay here ...not here to compete with other smartphone...if it will contiune within very short time Apple will be out from the market
Now it seems that i should opt out from iPhone and go for other smart Phone.

Adjusting the brightness, turning off notifications from few apps and balancing the volume could help your iPhone battery last longer.

  • N82 battery life getting worse

    Hi
I've had a black N82 for about 3 weeks and over the past few days noticed that the battery life is getting worse.
I charged it one evening last week and within 24 hours it had fully discharged. Over that time I did not take or receive any calls, send or receive any texts. I kept WLAN scanning switched off and played a small 30 second clip of video once. For about half of the time the phone was in a strong 3G area.
I recharged it again and within 18 hours I had 3 bars left (this time I had used WLAN for about 10 mins and sent a couple of texts). Left on "active standby" overnight (as usual) in a wek 3G area it had discharged by the following morning.
For the first two weeks of ownership I have been able to get much more use out of the phone between charges. I have not changed the useage of the phone since I owned it but I now find I am charging it almost once a day rather than once every 3 days.
Am I doing anything wrong? As I live in a weak 3G area wondered if I am better of switching off 3G and if so how I do so. I think I spend about half the time in a strong 3G area (at work etc).
    Any advice gratefully received.
    Solved!

Have you installed any 3rd party applications recently? That could explain why your battery performance has got worse.
I once installed a screensaver on my old N80 and whilst it looked fancy it pretty much killed my battery within half a day's use. As soon as I removed the application the battery performance returned to normal, which for the N80 wasn't that brilliant anyway
    Just a thought.
*EDIT* I just had another thought, do you have your N82 paired via Bluetooth to a PC running PC Suite? This will also run your battery down rapidly as the PC Suite software will initiate a BT link automatically whenever the phone is in range and has BT activated. This will also kill a battery much faster than normal.

    Dont Bother Audre
If you have updated to 6.1.1 and your phone is outside the warrenty perios, then you WILL have issues, so you take your phone to Apple and they will give you a replacement for £139 and they will also say its much cheaper what you paid for your handset!!!!
Just wait for the next update - If they have a heart and care for the 4s users, they will fix the battery issue too
    Thanks

  • Since I downloaded OS X lion, why is my battery life on my Mac Book Pro suffered

Why has my battery life suffered, since I downloaded OS X Lion on my Mac Book Pro?    How can I increase the battery life?

Get gfxCardStatus. It is a free menu bar application that keeps track of which graphics card your MacBook Pro is using at any given time.
    <http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/33905/gfxcardstatus>
When you are running on the battery, you want to make sure you are using the "Integrated" graphics unit, as it is more power efficient.
You might also want to run Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor and see if there are any processes which are consuming an excess amount of CPU non-stop.

Why is my battery life so short on my new I phone 4 with Verizon?

if you have checked the specs and it all works out, you can do a number of things. first i would suggest that for a dat you turn off 3G and cellular data to see if your service is running it  down. you can do thing by going to settings-general-network-then turning them off. if this still doesn't work then try running it all the way down to 0% then giving it a full charge. i noticed that if regularly if you run the app Battery Pro Boost Magic to see whats taking up so much of your battery. if all of this fails to work then your battery might be defective so contact apple and try to get it replaced.

  • Does Battery Life Get Better?

I got my iPhone last Wednesday. The battery died on me yesterday but I did a full charge last night. I believe the battery was completely charged by 1am today and was on standby until 8am this morning (turned pc off so it was no longer charging via usb). I've used the iPhone for the past 3 hours (mostly web browsing and some iPod usage) and the battery looks like its close to 20% dead (though it hasn't told me yet so) This doesn't seem right. So I ask, does the battery life get better in the long run or am I having an issue with my iPhone battery?

It is difficult to gauge exactly what the life of the phone is with average use. The best thing I can recommend is to use this site to optimize your phone for battery life.
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
If you still think there is a issue with the phone after going through this a visit to a Apple Store would be best to address your concern, just incase there might be a issue with the battery.

  • Battery life is WORSE!

OK, I thought I would give it a couple of days to make sure but I have to say that the battery life is worse than my old 3g.
I do nothing differnt on the new one and yet it drains faster!
Hope this is a bug that can be fixed in an firmware update!
Apart from that, I'm happy with update so far.

Apple's spec says it's better. I think mine is better. But i wouldn't be surprised if it is worse given the 600mhz processor and 256mb ram, the pure processing power would drain the battery faster.

  • My battery life between charges on my ipad 1 has plummeted to about 2 hours.  The guy at the genius bar suggested it might be an app (unfortunately I didn't have the device with me).  Does anyone know of apps that cause heavy drains on power?  Thanks!

The battery life between charges on my iPad has plummeted to about 2 hours.  The guy at the genius bar said the charge should last about 10 hours and suggested it might be an app (unfortunately I didn't have the device with me and the nearest Apple Store to me is 2 hours away).  Does anyone know of apps that cause heavy drains on power?  It also does not charge when it is plugged into my MacBook while I am using the iPad but it does when I am not using the iPad.  I mostly use the iPad to read e-mails, play Team Lava games, read books through iBooks or Kobo and the ABC Player.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Restore is about the only option left, short reinstalling the whole thing as new.
Before you restore, go to I tunes and turn off automatic sync.  Then plug the machine in.  Upload any photos that you have taken with the pad into I photos, or where ever you keep your pictures.  Then, in I tunes, transfer any purchases.
If any apps or purchased music get lost in the process, you can download them again for free.
You do not want to make a backup of what you have on the pad now. If you do, when you restore, you will simply recreate the same problem.
What you want to do is restore from a prior backup.  Do that.
Then run the system status app and see what the CPU numbers look like.  If they are ok, then you can start to re add apps until the problem shows up.
If this does not do it, then the last step is to set the pad up as new.  Check the numbers, then add the apps and settings back one by one.    While it is likely to be an app, it may be a setting somewhere.

  • Why is my battery life worse since upgrading to ios7

After upgrading to IOS7, my iphone 5 battery life is 3-4 hours of standby use, not the expected level.  It worked fine for 8 months, then since the upgrade it is pathetic.  any ideas why?

  • IPhone 3GS with fw 3.1 – battery life gets even worse

I've made the so long attended upgrade to iPhone OS 3.1 and strangely battery life has got even worse than before. The phone is using 10-12% of the battery every hour of standby; usage counter grows by 35-40 minutes for every hour of standby. This happens with a clean install and just email setup (mobileme with push), with restore or partial restore. Turning push off only makes it slightly better.
I was wondring if I were the only one experiencing this...

This is not even funny Jason... Really.
I now have a completely clean phone, installed anew through DFU. Now backups restored. Just setup my mobileme email on it and installed 2 (two) applications. iSip and DevInfo. Having push notifications and push email enabled, I'm loosing power at a rate of *8%/hour while in standby*.
Restoring my backup (which, by the way, is not an "option" but a rather important continuity pre-requisite) lets me have the same horrible battery performance. Turning push notifications and mail push off and booting the phone after that makes battery drain disappear (~1% every 1.5 hours).
Apple declares that using "Push" drains the battery 20% more. Even if this is an approximation, we're not even close to approximately 20% or 30% or even 40% increase. We're talking about battery drain growing 12-fold!
So pray try to help us – poor users – instead of repeating the link we've all seen thousands of times and that, frankly, has very little to do with how our iPhones perform in real life.
    Thank you.

I recently updated my ipad2.   Since then, my battery life dies so quickly.    I can use it once, close it, then open it again and the battery life is down 40%.    I used to get two days of life before the update.   I closed out all the "Location" request, the auto updates to apps, everything I thought was draining the battery life.  Why?

  • Have 2 month old Touch 4th Gen why is the battery life so bad?

    Hi everyone,
I have a 2 month old 4th gen Touch and find that the battery life is very bad. My 2nd gen Touch still works and I've had that since it was released (and I understand why the battery isn't so good on that anymore). Ever since I've had this I have to charge it at least once a day, thought I had heard that the battery life on the 4th gen was never good to begin with but this does seem very frustrating. I admit that I tend to use my Touchto play games and use the Internet. I always turn off Wi-FI when not on the Internet and I turn off  push notifications and watch out for the brightness as well. I have IOS 5.1 but was wondering what other people think about the battery. I know I'm still under warranty but do not want to just get another touch if this will happen to any touch I would get as a replacement. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

How bad is "so bad?"  You need to determine the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
