Is this the US store? How much is the item? Apple US store prices do not reflect sales tax which is added in the final steps of a sale. If your account credit does not cover the full cost, then you must have a bank card to charge the remainder of the balance. For whatever rason your bank card is being declined, so the sale cannot be finalized.

Login to the account on iTunes and under payment info, select none for the credit card. iTunes is supposed to use gift cards and store credit over credit cards but it doesn't.

There is doubt as to whether debit cards are still accepted in the iTunes Store for a number of countries. Many people have reported their debit cards being rejected, and debit cards are not listed as current valid payment methods, though it does say that it can vary by country:

You can try contacting the iTunes Store and asking if there is any way to use your card, but they may tell you that it's not possible.

Debit card declined while trying to make an itunes account, I've put down all my details

I've entered my debit card information but it won't allow me to register my card which is preventing me from downloading apps. It says that my card is declined when I havn't bought anything yet. I don't have a credit card but is there a way that I can still use my visa debit?

If you have iTunes' preference set to "copy items to
iTunes library when adding", then it will duplicate
your tracks when you add them. So that may be why
you're running out of hard drive space. Go into the
iTunes Advanced -> General preference, uncheck that
option, clear your library (and delete any tracks
that were copied to your user's Music -> iTunes
folder if they've indeed been duplicated from another
location). Then follow the steps in this article:
iTunes: How to share music between different
accounts on a single computer
to get set back up.
Note that when it says "publicly accessible
location", it needs to be a place where everyone has
read and write access. The most common such place is
the Shared folder in the Users folder.

Visa debit card declined

I was updating my Apple ID information as I recently received a new card after my old one expired. Now my new card won't be accepted.

If it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined. Do you have a credit card that you could use instead (they are generally considered safer on stores where the card details are stored), or are iTunes gift cards available in your country ?

Why is my debit card being declined when I have money on my apple ID account?

I am attempting to comets an in-app purchase and each time I am re-routed to a page where they are asking me to update my credit card information, I do so and it informs me that my card has been declined. I have over $10.00 on my apple account via iTunes and was under the impression that purchases would be deducted from there first. I am hoping that this is just an error on my part and that this can be resolved easily, thanks in advance for any and all help!!!

I have tried to download & update some free apps but for some reason it won't allow me without me popping in my debit/credit card details its free so why do I need to do this?

Did you have any pending charges? If not you can change your payment method to None. Have you done this?

I've made many purchases before on this card only all of a sudden istore and the app store are refusing it. Every time I try to download an app it says there is a billing problem with a previous purchase please update your information. Every time I do it says your payment method was declined please enter another payment method. But I've been using this payment method for over a month and half now, so whys it doing this now. Please help, I've tried changing my password, I've tried re entering all the information, but nothing's working. I can't even update my apps because of it.

If your card isn't being accepted, there is a reason it is being declined. Maybe you made a small typo with the address you entered, maybe an abbreviation is off, but something is causing your credit card company to deny the charge. These types of online vendors automatically send the details you entered to your bank's computer system, so even tiny differences like entering "St." instead of "St" are enough to cause problems. If that isn't the problem, you'll need to sort it out with your bank.
The message about your previous purchase means that iTunes was never able to receive payment for an order on your account. If your card keeps gettng declined, you might need to pay for that order with a different credit card or an iTunes gift card before you can buy anything else. You should probably email iTunes Store support to see if they can look over your account and locate the source of the problem is.

iPad App Store declined both my Visa cards and a parent's Visa card, too, all which were working that same day & afterwards, suggesting Apple's declining Visa cards. My card vendors all report not even seeing an authorization request suggesting Apple's not even sending the authorization. Adding a non-Visa credit card, however, immediately worked. Why are Visa cards so objectionable?
