Why is my firefox icon slowly turning green?

The firefox icon on the bottom bar went slowly green, from left to right, then changed back to grey once it reached the right side. I've never noticed it doing that before and am wondering what/if anything happened? Assuming I haven't been invaded by little green men or the fbi or similar, I'm not worried, but I'd like to understand...

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

Why does the Firefox icon on my desktop read1788 and not Mozilla?

Recently the Mozilla icon on my desktop changed from reading Mozilla to 1788 (the writing right under blue the Mozilla Firefox symbol) . Is this something Mozilla has done or is there an issue I need to resolve and if so how to I resolve this issue?
Also are there any free virus protection, that work with Mozilla?

No, the desktop shortcut hasn't been renamed. First, make sure it's really pointing to Firefox and not something else:
1. Right-click the icon and choose Properties.
 2. In the Properties window, click the Shortcut tab.
 3. Make sure the Target field says 
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
4. If it does, then click the General tab.
 5. In the text box at the top, enter the name you want for the shortcut.
 6. Click the OK button when done.
I take it you're having problems with the avast! Online Security add-on, which is why you have it disabled? Any add-on that scans every link on every page is bound to add a delay to loading time. If you're having more severe issues, you can ask for help on the Avast forum:

Why Won't Mail Icon Stop Turning?

I have tried both my accounts for sending mail via Mac mail. The circle just keeps turning. I finally have to quit Mail. It's so annoying.
What could cause this? My setting are all correct.

I logged out, logged back in, and Mail started on the left side of my Dock and then promptly shot to the right. Unfortunately, the most likely explanation is an incompatibility with your graphics card/chipset driver software. One of the effects of Safe Mode is to disable Firefox from using hardware acceleration. To turn that feature off in normal mode as well:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This takes effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again. Any difference?

Why doesn't Firefox respond to the green zoom button on my Mac running snow leopard?

For some reason my Firefox is not responding to the green zoom button on upper left of my Mac's screen (running snow leopard). The screen fonts, graphics etc. are way too large , and I would like to reduce size of all design elements -- especially for AOL -- using this feature or some other feature. BTW -- the green zoom button works for Safari, although the text and graphics size is a readable, small size in various screen sizes on Safari.

Close and restart Firefox after changing the ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled pref.

Why does my Firefox icon keep going to a default Windows one? I need to reinstall Firefox each time to get it back?

I have an icon for FF on my desktop, taskbar and start menu (I know.. overkill!). When I start my machine up in the morning the FF icon has been replaced with the blank Windows one (the one where is doesn't know what the file is) and to the only way to get the right icon showing is to reinstall the software. I have tried going into the properties and setting the icon to the right one but it never changes it.... Any ideas??

Mac 'Finder' won't run on click/double-click without 1st closing Firefox & its little pop-up box (titled '2 items 0 kb available): why? & why have a Firefox icon (looks like a USB port on the desktop) too? Move that to Trash & Ffox doesn't work at all.

Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

When I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.4 to 9.10, the desktop icon changed to the image of a page, and the panel icon became a red circle with a slash on a black background. How do I get the proper icon back?

I assume that you are on Linux as well?
Did you right-click that desktop icon and open the Properties?
There you should see the location of the program file in the command field. 
You can click the icon and browse to that folder and then open the icons folder.

I turn on my computer, click on the Firefox icon on my desktop, the web browser appears but the same screen always appears and says, "Well this is embarrassing" and says the problem is due to a previously opened tab.

I am online everyday. I turn on my computer and click on the Firefox icon. A web browser appears but not with my Yahoo! homepage. Instead of seeing my Yahoo! homepage I see a screen that says, "Well this is embarrassing." I read that the problem is due to a recently opened tab. It gives me the options of either restoring all previously used tabs from the last time of use or starting a new session. If I choose to restore previous tabs, I am further given the option to select which tabs I want restored and which ones I don't want to restore. I always choose to start a new session because all previous tabs consist of work that I have completed in the past (whether it be yesterday or the day before). I, therefore, have no interest in restoring a tab that contained an article about our current economic situation for example. As previously stated, I choose to start a new session every time I receive the "Well this is embarrassing" error message. When I choose this option, I am brought to a fresh tab with no information regarding work, articles, or entertainment from yesterday or some time in the past. I wish to have an explanation as to why this happens. I do not go on any malicious web sites or anything of the sort. This happens every single day. The automatic error message that appears is "Well this is embarrassing." For Firefox to say "Well this is embarrassing" is not close to the response it should give.

Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

Utility control point icons turn green and gray

I am running SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise and have set up a MDW, Utility MDW and UCP, when enrolling the instances on the UCP, I get a warning about WMI but it allows me to enroll the instance. After enrollment of the isntance I have seen the icons
turn green and provide data for each instance but after a few minutes the icons will turn gray again and no data will be seen in any of the tabs. When I go back into the instance and refresh sometimes it will turn green and provide data, but after a
few seconds it turns gray again. I have looked at the wmi get commands and verified that I can query the wmi data on each instance as discussed in this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210592.aspx I am not sure why it is
providing data sometimes (green icons) and then going back to gray icons (no data). Can anyone give me some things to check? It has been collecting data for a few days now...

Thank you for responding, you are the first one of many questions I have asked in other forums, there doesn't seem to be much support for UCP...
All the jobs on the UCP run successfully except the collection_set_5_noncached_collect_and_upload. It runs successfully all 3 steps every 3rd attempt. The 2 attempts in between fail on step 3 but since it eventually all runs not sure if that
is an issue or not.
On the managed instances the jobs all run as well but the same collection_set_5 has the same type of successes and failures where it will run successfully throughout the day but fails more than succeeds and
usually it is step 3 that fails. But then it will succeed every half hour it seems.
Another managed instance has the same issues with collection_set_5 but also has failures with the job collection_set_4_noncached_collect_and_upload where it will run multiple times and fail but succeeds every 1-2 hours. so all jobs succeed at one time
or another, just not consistently succeeding.
Network connections are stable

Hi, sounds like Graphic card or VRAM issue. Does it get better once warmed up?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode).
