hello, my eyesight issue happens occasionally, from time to time i run multiple apps that use the isight camera. when i close each app the isight camera's green light is still active. When that happens the only way to stop the isight camera is to reboot.
Is there a way to use activity monitor to identify and kill the process controlling the isight? My apologies in advance if this sounds windows (task manager) like.
    Thanks

    http://support.apple.
com/kb/HT2411: Your camera can be used by only one application at a time.
(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

  • Iphone screen is basically black, but sound still works aswell as the light beside the camera

Hi. I have an iphone 4s and the screen is barely readable. it is nearly completely black. The light beside the camera seems to come on every time that I turn on the phone but yet the screen doesn't seem to come on. i have restored the iphone and done everything it says in other forums but yet nothing is working. it is on the set up screen ready to set up as a new iphone but it is so hard to see everything that i cannot set it up. im planning on bringing it back to vodafone tomorrow to see if they can do anything. Any suggestions on what to do?

Sounds like it may be a hardware issue.
Did the issue happen over time or did something cause it (dropped it, water, etc.)

  • Green light next to camera is on.

green light next to camera is on.  how to I turn off?

It would usually indicate that an application is occupying the camera. Check in Activity Monitor to see if you are running any background application that might be using the camera.

  • Hi everyone, have you noticed that there is kind of green light inside the camera even if the camera turns off? It it normal? Thanks!

I assume you mean green reflection from the camera?

Other suggestions, and more info about the nature of the problem, may be in this Apple tech note.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1365
For example, you might find that the brick wall is not the only problem. There may be other devices pumping out enough wireless interference to be making things even worse.
I agree with Bob Timmons that Ethernet is best and most reliable. And that powerline (which I use) is easier and potentially faster than wireless...but only if your power lines do not have electrical devices plugged in which produce electrical noise on the line. Powerline will be slower than Gigabit Ethernet.
Ethernet cable is the only way to ensure that the signal goes directly there in a shielded way for a clear fast signal. Wireless and powerline are much slower because of all the other things the signal has to fight past to get to the other device.

  • Why is the volume so low on my iMac when I'm using Safari?

Why is the volume so low on my iMac when I'm using Safari?
On both my 2008 MBP and my new 2014 iMac 27" when I listen to the audio portion of a streaming video or news story using Safari, I can hardly hear anything. I have to crank the volume all the way up just to barely hear what is being said. Any ideas on how to fix this?

please help!! I have the new 2014 iMac 27" as well, same thing happen to me. Dont know what to do!

  • Why if i want to listen to music and i'am not using headphones i don't hear the music coming from the mac

why if i want to listen to music and i'am not using headphones i don't hear the music coming from the mac?

that means that your mac still thinks the headphones are plugged in.  Try inserting and unplugging the headphones from the jack several times and see if it sets the toggle switch back.  If not, try sticking a toothpick or something sturdy and narrow in and see if you can manually flip the toggle switch.  That method is a last resort, you do not want to break anything off inside the headphone jack.

  • Why does my iphone 4s gets really hot even though im not using it, battery drain's 2% every 5 minutes.. and its just in my pocket,. what will i do?

why does my iphone 4s gets really hot even though im not using it, battery drain's 2% every 5 minutes.. and its just in my pocket,. what will i do?

some thing is runnng in the back ground. Or your email is struck. Deleted all emails and reboot phone and add them one by one. Or your sim cards has problem. Replace sim card. If nothing works drain battery then recharge battery to 100% full charge.

  • Why does the green light stay on at the top of my screen where pictures are taken?

MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.2  - at the top of the frame of the screen a green light stays on - I think this is the camera.  Is there a way to shut if off?

This procedure may show which program is using the camera. It makes no changes, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem. It will only work while the green LED is on. The instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    sudo lsof -Fc +D /L*/Cor*/*/*/AppleCamera.plugin | sed '2!d;s/^.//' | pbcopy
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning.
If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.
The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • The green light beside the built-in camera

9 minutes ago it just came on without me launching Photo Booth or iChat or anything else. I feel like my computer just turned into HAL. I opened Photo Booth to try and see what was happening, maybe turn it off, and the camera shows no image (and it takes a black picture).
    I'm stymied.

Ok, if it persists, try resetting the NVRAM/PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
And if necessary, try resetting the SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543

  • Why no flash or light with the camera?

Does anyone know why Apple seemingly refuses to put a flash/camera light on the iPhone? I would imagine that's a pretty easy add on and would really help with low light photography. The Night Camera app helps a little, but for the most part is a joke. Are they just spoon feeding us camera capabilities one year at a time and maybe we'll see it next go round? I'm holding out for the iLaser (a laser pointer app that emits a visible beam of light similar to a StarWars light saber)!

I also find it baffling that the indicators for num lock and caps lock can't be controlled independently.
Lenovo only allows you to either sown the indicator briefly or always on for both buttons.
However, most people always have caps lock off and num lock on and only want to see when caps lock is activated.
Lenovo's settings don't allow for having say, the num lock icon show briefly when activated AND the caps lock icon to always show when activated.
Having the LEDs in the keys would solve this issue and get rid of the annoying on-screen indicators.

  • I have an Intel iMac and the green light for the camera will NOT shut off.

I am NOT running any programs that have any use for the camera to be on. No Skype, nor facetime nor instant messengers etc so , why won't it shut off? How do I get it to go off?

    Try restarting your Mac.

  • My itunes are only playing on two of my three aiport express. Why? The green light is on Airport Express. The WiFi is connecte to my commuter. I am hearing music in the other rooms...

My itunes are only playing out of two of my three airport express. Why

Ok, it sounds like what your are trying to do, up-and-above your current configuration, is to both extend your Internet connectivity to additional wireless computers AND stream iTunes to a stereo...correct?
If so, your AirPort Express (AX) will need to operate as either a Remote or Relay Base Station in Apple's Wireless Distribution System (WDS) mode. (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107454) In order for this to work, you would have to use either another AX or an AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS). However, there are some other 3rd-party routers (like Linksys) that may work as well. (ref: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121820)
What is the make/model of your current wireless router...and does this connect directly to your ISP's DSL/Cable modem?
