    Try this:
    Go to System Preferences - Bluetooth. Delete the keyboard from the list of devices by pressing the "-" button. Take the batteries out of the keyboard and reinsert them. In Bluetooth Preferences press the '+" button to add the new device. If the keyboard begins to pair, click the word "pair" and type in the passcode. Press return. The keyboard is now paired.
    If the mouse is not pairing, try this: shut down the computer completely, unplug any USB mice, then turn off the power to the bluetooth mouse.  ONce the computer starts up again, wait for the pop-up looking for a mouse.  Turn on the power to the bluetooth mouse.  It should work normally now.

  • Audio/Video Slow Down

    I've been using Windows 7 since August and installed an X-Fi Titanium about two months ago with no incidents. ?For unrelated reasons, I had to reformat about a week ago. ?This leads to my current problem:
    Whenever I playback a video source, be it streaming, on my hdd, or dvd, my audio and video slow way down, about 0% of the normal speed. ?The video slow down only affects these sources, games and windows explorer work normally at full speed, but the audio is still at the same slow speed. ?Only a full system restart seems to fix it. ?
    Strangely, this problem doesn't seem to affect .divx files (note .divx, avi's encoded with divx still causes the slowdowns).
    I've installed the newest video and audio drivers; updated my codecs; tried multiple browsers and media players; rolled back to older drivers; tried the various modded drivers on the forum; tried streaming media on a VM, slowdown still happens; restarting device via device management; used windows 7 auto update drivers; scanned for spyware/virus; another reformat; removed stick of ram (brought down to 2gb from 4); ran chkdsk; and in total, spent about 0 hours googling possible fixes.
    My system specs are as follows:
    Windows 7 Pro x64
    AMD Phenom 9600 2.3 GHz
    Sapphire 4870 gb
    4gb DDR2 Ram
    Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe Mobo
    2x 32gb patriot ssd (System Dri've)
    320gb WD Hdd?
    Logitech 5. speakers Connected via analogue
    PS3 connected to Optical In
    If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated. ?I'm just about at my wit's end here and I currently don't have the funds to buy anything different for my system. ?Thanks for taking the time to read this.

    you want a video to play at something other than its native framerate?
    if yes, you can't easily do that with an flvplayback component.  you'll need to separate the audio and visual parts of your video and had them to a movieclip timeline.  then you'll need to customize the playback speed of that movieclip.
    you can use the following to play any movieclip (forward or backward) at any speed:
    function playF(mc:MovieClip, m:int, n:int, fps:int):void {
        var playFFF2:Function = function(mc:MovieClip):void {
            trace(getTimer(),mc.currentFrame);
            if (mc.m<mc.n) {
                mc.nextFrame();
            } else {
                mc.prevFrame();
            if (mc.currentFrame == mc.n) {
                clearInterval(mc.int);
            //updateAfterEvent();
        mc.m = m;
        mc.n = n;
        mc.fps = fps;
        mc.gotoAndStop(mc.m);
        clearInterval(mc.int);
        mc.int = setInterval(playFFF2, 1000/mc.fps, mc);
    // and to stop it:
    function stopF(mc:MovieClip):void {
        clearInterval(mc.int);

  • Why do GarageBand, iMovie, Photobooth, and Hulu and Youtube videos slow down my whole computer?

    I have a higher end 13" MacBook Pro running OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8 that I purchased in August of 2010. About a month ago, I was using iMovie to edit a project when all of a sudden it started responding extremely slowly. Like, near impossible to work on my project slow. The whole computer was lagging, the mouse was unresponsive and I could barely use the gestures on the trackpad to get to different programs. Eventually the pinwheel of death showed up, and I quit iMovie. As soon as it closed, everything returned to normal. I restarted the computer to see if that would help, but as soon as I opened iMovie again, the whole computer started lagging. I then noticed that the same problem occured when I used GarageBand, iPhoto, Skype, and when I watched Hulu or YouTube videos. With all of these programs/sites, everything is running fine beforehand, but when I open them up, chaos sets in. This problem doesn't occur when I use other intensive programs like Photoshop or Illustrator, nor while I'm browsing the web. The only web problems are when I watch a video. Any video. Other than that, web pages are as quick to load as ever, and I can use the computer normally for any other task. This is seriously a problem because I use iMovie and GarageBand for school a lot, and my grades depend on me being able to use these programs effectively. All of these problems have persisted with these apps since that first instance about a month ago, and no significant changes occurred to instigate them. In attempts to solve the situation, I have cleared my cache, freed up space on my drive (I have 56 free gigs out of 320), I have verified and repaired the disk permissions, and I have downloaded the Apple provided Trojan removal tool for Snow Leopard. This seemed to work for about 10 minutes, but the apps and videos quickly started lagging and slowing down my whole computer again. If anyone else has experienced anything like this, I would love to hear exactly what has happened to you and to see what you did to [try to] fix it. Thanks for reading all of this, I need all the help I can get right now. Also, I can't watch The Daily Show or The Colbert Report on Hulu anymore, and it's killing me! Thanks again.

    It's very difficult to say without knowing more about your system. There are a number of possibilities. First, your 13" lacks a discrete GPU, so the CPU is doing the work that a GPU would have done as far as decoding video streams, etc. Each video stream will consume considerable resources from the machine, and if you have multiple things running with video streams being decoded (for example, a browser with video Flash or cumbersome animation and iMovie running at the same time), then that may be a factor.
    Additionally, it could be that you are memory constrained. You didn't post a picture of the process list from activity monitor or the memory usage stats, but you probably want to look and see what the memory and CPU usage is and who's consuming what. Some applications are pretty inefficient. For example, if you have iPhoto open and have thousands of images, the indexed metadata and thumbnails are all stored in RAM. iMovie pulls in clip thumbnail sets - (and worse, it has to do on-the-fly transcoding video assets from some cameras that don't encode the video using the parameters it expects to make indexing frames easier). Again, this would show up as periodic spikes in CPU activity for the app.
    You seem to have plenty of disk space, that's not likely to be a problem.
    Check if Time Machine is running. Time Machine introduces a performance impact, but it's exacerbated by the presence of frequently changed large files (e.g., you don't want Time Machine backing up your video projects while you are working on them).
    Lastly, you may consider checking the console for error messages. This might reveal background processes that might be bogging down the system, or things like filesystem/disk errors. If there are errors in the filesystem, when you access certain portions of the disk, the OS and applications can slow down or lock-up as a result.

  • Video Slows Down Dramatically At Start of Video Chat Session

    When starting a video chat with mate, my video starts fine and then quickly slows down to virtually nothing. Video of me is good in preview but when I start a video chat with mate, it all goes down hill. Connection Doctor tells me my framerate is 1 fps. Why does video speed deteriorate so quickly after video chat is started? Any advice would be most helpful here. Apple Tech Support says its likely to be a software issue. I though upgrade to 10.4.5 would help: it didn't. Anyone out there experiencing the same thing??

  • Video slows down after adding text

    hello, would appreciate any pointers to solve my problem.....every time i add text to my video project, the video will play very slowly (jerks) until the text ends.
    this never happened before as my previous projects ran smoothly even with transitions and text.
    anything i can change to fix this? i have not installed any new apps, now notice any slow down of any other application that i use.
    thanks.

    I also experienced the same problem, regardless of long or short movies... I'm sure you are also experiencing this issue on your preview screens (both small and full screen).
    Here's what I did... I just went ahead and exported the movie to media browser and iTunes. I tried playing back on iTunes and it works perfectly. I also tried burning the movie onto DVD and it works perfectly.
    Bottomline, just go ahead and export the movie, then burn it onto DVD or whatever your preference is, and you should be fine.
    I'm working on another project now, and it's doing the same thing again. But, I'm not really worried anymore because I'm pretty sure it'll be alright once exported.

  • Why does my AI acquisition slow down to my frequency measurement rate?

    I'm using Labview/Daqmx to program my SCXI 1520 and TC modules while at the same time using the multifunction capabilities of the E-card controlling the SCXI.  This has been fairly easy until I wanted to use the frequency and counter measurements (outputs/DIO works great).  I'm using a waveform with buffered acquisition for the read on the AI channels and obviously there is no waveform for the frequency measurement so I'm just combining the signals using the dynamic data.  This works great when my input frequency is higher than my acquisition frequency.  When my input frequency is lower than my acquisition frequency the acquisition slows down to that frequency and the AI read falls behind (buffer fills while waiting for another frequency measurement).  I'm assuming the frequency read is not keeping up with AI read.  I understand that as the frequency is reduced it takes more time to calculate the frequency.  So how do I "read" the frequency measurement at the same rate as the AI data?  I'm fine with using the last frequency measurement until a new frequency measurement is available but I can't even seem to be able to do that.
    An example of the problem is measurement of vehicle pedal force (AI channel) with pulse input for vehicle speed.  Assuming 100 Hz acquisition and the vehicle stopped or going slow (very slow pulse train) I should be able to acquire data at 100 Hz even if I just use the last data point for the frequency channel until another point is available.
    Please help, thanks.

    Basically, the very fact that you're *doing* a frequency read suggests that you don't know the expected freq ahead of time, and probably suggests that it can vary.  The waveform datatype assumes a constant interval between samples which wouldn't generally be true for frequency measurement, and that's why you can't use it.  Since the actual timestamps of the frequency measurements are NOT the same as those in the analog waveform, it's likely a mistake to pretend they are.
    My method is to create my own array of "timestamps" for the frequency data.  Create a For loop with a shift register initialized to 0 from outside the loop.  Let your freq array auto-index the loop.  On each element, perform (1/x).  Add result to the left-hand shift register value and write it to both the right-hand shift register and to an auto-indexing output.  When the loop completes, the output array will hold timestamps that correlate to your freq measurements.  From there you can choose whether to display on an X-Y Graph, or whether to perform some interpolations to calculate freqs at the analog sample times or vice versa.

  • Why have my two machines slowed down after installation of latest update?

    Both of our MacBooks slowed down and/or stopped in the middle of loading usual websites immediately after installing new version of Firefox. Since it's both computers, it must be Firefox gumming up the works. Help.

    Since you installed system updates and software updates, run "Repair Disk Permissions" in Disk Utility, if you have not done so recently (after the installations).
    In terms of the System Preferences Network pane, select Show *Network Port Configurations*. On the list of network services, make sure +Built-in Ethernet+ is at the top of the list. You can also uncheck services you are not using for networking, just in case there is a bug causing conflict.

  • Why has my Imac recently slowed down

    It has gotten very slow lately

    How full is your hard drive?
    Hhave you emptied OS X Trash icon in the Dock, lately?
    Apple Mail and iPhoto have their own separate Trash to empty.
    Have you emptied these?
    Iin OS X Disk Utility, run the repair Disk Permissions routine.
    If doing these things only marginally helps, next is to upgrade your RAM memory.
    Newer Intel versions of OS X use a lot more CPU, GPU, hard drive and RAM resources.
    The 4 GBs of RAM in your iMac is really the working minimum of RAM needed just to run OS X, alone, by itself.
    Start running additonal applications and your iMac is going to slow down.
    Your iMac can take a max. amount of  32 GBs of RAM.
    Install, at least, another 4 GBs of RAM. Install more if you can afford it.
    Here are the exact specs for the RAM your iMac needs

    12. The NEED for SPEED – Speeding up your N900
    These are recommended applications to help you speed up the response, movement, and transitions to your N900.
    IMO, this is how the unit should have been released from the beginning, however, there are 2 factors with this that are in play:
    Nokia is more conservative on this
    Lucky for us this is open-source and we have an UBER community to create these fixes for us to use!
    Be sure that you have installed the EXTRAS-DEVEL and EXTRAS-TESTING catalogs.
    The applications to install are:
    Black Plastic (additional theme packs are not required)
    Enhanced Linux Kernel for power users
    QCPUFreq
    Transition Control
    Swappolube
    Black Plastic – This is a basic theme pack that will make an immediate difference in the over-all appearance and styles of transitions to your N900.  You can adjust all these settings and transitions by going to:  settings/Plastic Theme Setup
    Enhanced Linux Kernel for power users – You do not have to do anything with this directly, though if you search this forum, you may come across some basic code for loading certain frequencies that you want.  To make this simple, just use the QCPUFreq. It will give you the ability to over-clock your device up to 1.15ghz
    QCPUFreq – This is an EASY way to change the over-clocking frequency to your device with a simple slide bar.  Don’t bother with the SmartReflex, just use the slider-bar.  Before you can over-clock above the 600mhz, you will have to tap the menu/enable overclocking.  There will be a pop-up about warranty stuff, this is protection for the developer.  I have multiple units OC’d since they started doing it around 3/2010, no issues on any of them….UNLESS SPEED IS AN ISSUE!  NOTE: EVERY TIME YOUR DEVICE IS RESTARTED, YOU WILL HAVE TO REDO THE OVER-CLOCKING.
    Transition Control – This allows you to change how fast all the transitions are.  You can change the numbers to anything you want.  I have set all of the options to 5.  I have heard others at 10, and others at 0.  If you really don’t care much about having to see a looong sweeping effects, and would like it to just be “blip”, then 5 or 0 will do it!
    Swappolube – This will allow a complete “lube-job” for your N900.  If you tap “proposed/apply/store” then it will give the best option to your devices settings, and make it so that when you reboot your device, or change the battery, you will not have to reset this again. Details can be seen in a post by CPitchford @ post: /t5/Maemo-Devices/Make-your-N900-faster-with-Swappolube/m-p/765938#M19220 )
    To install them:
    Open xterm
    sudo gainroot
    apt-get install black-plastic-theme kernel-power-flasher qcpufreq transitioncontrol swappolube
    Or, if you want to install them all separately:
    apt-get install black-plastic-theme
    apt-get install kernel-power-flasher
    apt-get install qcpufreq
    apt-get install transitioncontrol
    apt-get install swappolube
    TO GO TO ORIGINAL FACTORY SETTINGS AND REVERSE ALL SETTINGS CHANGES:
    All you have to do is uninstall all of these.  All the factory settings will restore automatically.
    Open xterm
    apt-get remove black-plastic-theme
    apt-get remove kernel-power-flasher
    apt-get remove qcpufreq
    apt-get remove transitioncontrol
    apt-get remove swappolube
    or one long command:
    apt-get remove black-plastic-theme kernel-power-flasher qcpufreq transitioncontrol swappolube

  • Problems importing audio - slows down the speed???

    hey guys,
    I am having trouble when i import my audio into premiere elements 11 it plays back slower than the original audio. i have tried changing the file format from mp3 to WAV 16-bit 48khz and i am still experiencing the same issue... can anyone please help me?
    Ryan

    Ryan,
    For the record, what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running on?
    Is this audio linked to video when it is imported or is this a standalone audio file?
    If the audio is linked to video, are you seeing any slow motion effects in the video?
    Now let us get into the details of your project setup.
    What are the properties of your source media, video as well s audio, and what are you or the project setting as the project preset to match the properties of the source media? I am looking for video and audio compression, frame size, frame rate, file extension, pixel aspect ratio, etc.
    When your audio does not sound like the original during playback in the Premiere Elements Edit Mode monitor, are you listening to and watching the video/audio of the rendered or unrendered Timeline content?
    When you import your audio (with or without linked video) do you see any conforming going on as evidenced by a conforming progress bar at the bottom of the interface?
    Let us start here and then decide what next?
    Thanks.

  • Why is DV importing so slow?

    So, I digitized about 50 of our old Video8 home videos on my iMac. iMovie doesn't support pass-through through a miniDV camera that I used so I had to use a program called Vidi to digitize each Video8 cassette into one big DV file (1 DV file per cassette of course).
    Problem is that importing that big DV file into iMovie takes AAAGGEEESSSS. Why is that? It's a regular DV file that has nothing wrong with it. Any ideas?
    Joshua.

    The camera definately supports pass-through as I succesfully digitized almost 50 tapes using pass-through, so there's no doubt about that.
    What I discovered about iMovie 6 HD was this:
    (from http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/~shmhav/iMovieHD_6_bugs.html#analogDV)
    Some analog to DV passthrough converters don't work in iMovie HD 6.0.2 like they do in iMovie 4.0.1
    1. For example, my Sony TRV320 can convert analog video to DV in passthrough mode in iMovie 4.0.1, but not in iMovie HD 6.0.2. Reportedly the same applies at least to Canon MV6iMC, Canon MV750i, too. This is why I still have a copy of iMovie 4.0.1 installed.
    The same flaw was in iMovie HD 5.0.2, too: reportedly neither Sony DVMC-DA1, Sony DCR-PC110, Sony DCR-HC30E, Sony TRV-340E, Canon ZR80, Canon ZR200, Canon MV630i, Canon MV750i or Panasonic NV EX3 work in analog to DV passthrough mode to iMovie HD 5.0.2 while they work in iMovie 4.0.1 (apparently some models that don't work in iMovie HD 5.0.2 work in iMovie HD 6, though).
    2. It is also not possible to record live DV with no tape in the camcorder (i.e. the camcorder in Rec mode, so that what goes in the camcorder's lens, imports in real-time to iMovie) from a camcorder (Sony TRV320, for example) to iMovie HD 6.0.1 because iMovie complains "Camera No Tape". In iMovie 4.0.1 and BTV Pro this works OK with no tape in the camcorder.
    Analog-to-DV workaround #1: Import using $20/40 BTV/BTV Pro or iMovie 4.0.1. Then import it to iMovie HD or, to save time and HD space, drop the .dv file in the Media-folder (see below here and here).
    Analog-to-DV workaround #2: (This worked with my Sony TRV320 with iMovie HD 5.0.1 but not anymore with v5.0.2 or v6.0). Put a tape in the camcorder and press the camcorder's PLAY-button to play the tape in VTR mode (usually the tape must be OUT when doing analog-DV conversion!), then in iMovie hit the Import-button (so iMovie starts to import from the tape), then press the camcorder's STOP-button. iMovie should then continue importing from the analog source as usual.
    Live import workaround #1: Import using BTV/BTV Pro or iMovie 4.0.1. (Remember to disable the camcorder's demo mode).
    Live import workaround #2: Put a tape in the camcorder and put it into CAMERA mode. Launch iMovie HD 6.0.2 -- its import mode should show the live feed from the camcorder. Remove the tape -- iMovie HD should continue to show and import live feed from the camcorder. The drawback with this approach is that it produces wear and tear to the camcorder. If you keep the tape in the camcorder, it may also go into standby mode if the tape is paused.
    So apparently some cameras/decks do work. Another site directed me to Vidi which was a lifesaver. I spent about 4 days digitizing using pass-through. I can only imagine the pain having to record on miniDV first and then move it to the computer.
    I tried those workarounds but they didn't work or wasn't able to try (BTV/BTV Pro ones). The camera I used was a loaner. It was a Panasonic GS50 I believe, PAL version.
    EDIT: I got the "Camera No Tape" error all the time while trying pass-through with iMovie.
    Joshua.

  • Why does ADF scanning dramatically slow down on HP7510?

    Hi,
    I have a 27" iMAC running Lion and am using the PDFScanner app for capturing scans from my HP Photosmart 7510 multifuction printer. However, I am trying to figure out why scanning slows WAY down after the first hundred or so pages. Here's what happened:
    I unpacked my new 7510 and enjoyed a couple hours of scanning and digital filing using the auto document feeder (ADF). The 7510 then started taking about 40 second to scan a single page, no change of settings, would just hang up for 30 seconds with the page half way in the scanner. I thought it was maybe a thermal management issue so I shut it down and let it cool off for an hour. First page out of the gate took that same 40 seconds. I decreased DPI all the way to 100, changed the color to black and white and did everything else I could think of. Scans were fine, just painfully slow.
    So I called HP customer support, they suggested I plug the unit straight into a wall because maybe it was starved for power through the UPC. Wierd... but I did it. No help. Here's the kicker: She asked me to take the computer out of the loop entirely and use the ADF to copy a page only. I did, took the same 40ish seconds.
    She said there was something probably mechanically wrong with the printer and gave me an RA #. Got it swapped out with a new unit, had another couple of hours of fast, clean scanning (but I went much more slowly this time), and bam, one random page (and every page thereafter) is now back to being 40 or so seconds to scan. It would normally take maybe 5-7 seconds to scan at 300 DPI.
    Flatbed scanning does not seem to be effected. So, given that the unit does it when the computer is not being used, this seems like a printer problem... right? Could HP be throttling its users? I sure hope note. Anyone have any ideas?

    I know this is an old post, but in case others end up here looking for a solution.
    This is a "feature" of the 7510.  Quoting from their support site:
    The behavior that you are seeing  in your printer is normal in that product, this printer is merely  design to home users where their needs are not as high compared to business users. The unit  reduces its speed to prevent overheating the motor in the Automatic-Document-Feeder (ADF). So, there is nothing wrong with that behavior  and you can still use it even if the speed of scanning or copying through  the ADF reduces. I hope this information is helpful.
    What this means is that after 75 sheets pass through the ADF, it paues ~20 seconds between scans.  It's not clear when or how this resets.  It's also apparent that, for whatever reason, their tech support is not always aware of the issue.
    There are several threads about this problem at the HP support forums.  Here's a major one:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Photosmart-7510-Long-De lay-Between-Scans-from-ADF/td-p/1114139

    Tyring to encode mpg files as FLVs. When I import the mpgs,
    they are upside down. Same problem with Flash CS3 and Flash
    Encoder. The mpgs play fine in Windows Media Player and can be
    converted by Windows Media Encoder without problem. Any ideas? The
    files were created using Pinnacle Studio.

    In addition to Sue's suggestions, you can use iMovie's built in Mirror video effect to turn your clips upside down or, in your case, right side up. Switch to Editing>Vide FX and select the Mirror effect. Now slide the Vertical slider all the way to the Bottom setting and move the Horizontal slider all the way to the Right. Matt_______
