Why is my InDesign document drifting to the left on its own?

When I pull up a file it immediately starts moving to the left of the screen...sometimes disappearing to the point that I cannot work on it. Even if I go to the bottom of the page and move it back, it just moves back to the left on its own. Why is this happening? What can I do to make it stop and follow my direction.

I found out the problem. It was a mouse malfunction that only reacted to my InDesign files. When I switched out the mouse, the problem went away.
Thanks for your suggestion though to restart. That quite often works.

Agreed. I have a couple thousand forms in my system. No sooner did I get through many of them after ugrading to CC, Adobe upgraded again. It begins all over again. [sigh]

Why do my InDesign documents report my ported plugin as missing?

I recently ported a plugin from CS4 to CS5, but when I open my old InDesign documents associated with the CS4 plugin, CS5 reports my plugin as missing (I can open the plugin and use it just fine, so it's obviously not missing).
I have one CriticalTag defined for my plugin, but I haven't changed my persistent data between the two versions in any way that I'm aware.
Shouldn't Indesign associate my ported plugin with these old documents? And if not, what am I missing?

Entire site drifting to the left when navigating with anchors

Hi there.
I setup my muse site on a single vertically scrolling page with a top-nav that links to anchors throughout the body further down the page. However, when I preview in Muse or preview in the browser and click on a link in the horizontal top-nav the whole site drifts to the left as it scrolls down the page automatically to the anchor point.
It seems do depend on where the anchors are aligned horizontally on the page but I can't get a consistent behavior to troubleshoot them.
I started with all anchors aligned to left guide. that produced the initial problem.
I then tried with them aligned to the very edge of the document pane, at the outter edge of the margin and got a little less drift.
I tried aligning them left using the align tool and that put them right on the edge of the page where it meets the margin but I still got drift.
It seems that if I align one or 2 anchors further left than the others I it doesn't drift between them, but only between the ones that are further right. If they're all aligned to the same place though then it drifts left every time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been messing with this thing for far too long.

I am having this same issue. It seems to me that the pages with this issue are centered and the anchor links override the centering of the page. If I align the anchors all to an x position of 0 the page opens up centered and remains centered until I click a link with an anchor then it shifts so the page aligns with the left side of the window (x position 0) and my page is no longer centered in the window.
To fix this on the computer I am working on, a 27" iMac I can put the anchors at an x position of -500 or so, however when viewed on a small screen, my 15" Macbook Pro it keeps the anchors at -500 and so the page gets pushed too far to the right.
As far as I can tell there is no real fix for this. What would really fix the problem would be to be able to set the anchor links to center justify instead of left justify.
I'm not looking for a fix from you because I don't think there is one right now and all the forums on this issue haven't offered a real solution either. I just thought this might clarify what the issue really is. A page that is centered will not remain centered when anchor links are used as the anchor links will always want to align with the left side of the browser window.

This is not an issue as long as all the content is inside the page width. If, however, you want to make a widget look full browser width by putting in something really wide or anything is off the page it no longer works. If anchor links were able to be center justified then it wouldn't matter.
I ended up having to completely change my design so the anchor links would work properly.

Picture drifts to the left, old mac pro

My question: I've got an ancient Mac Pro (Aug '06) with an ATI radeon 3870 card (an upgrade a few years ago). 24" cinema display. Osx 10.7.4 (can't upgrade to 10.8) I'll replace the system when iMacs are updated. In the mean time, the display on the monitor has drifted to the left, cutting off the far left of the programs.
I've searched in vain for a way to shift the display to the right, up, down, etc, like you see on Windows machines.
Is there a way for me to correct this?

You certainly could keep the old Mac Pro in Firewire mode (hold down the T key on its keyboard as you boot) to show its drives on the new MP. This is basically as fast as putting the drives into a Firewire enclosure.
Or you could boot it normally and share its files over the network using the Sharing panel of System Preferences. If you turn on both File and Screen Sharing, you don't even need to have a monitor attached - you can do all administration using screen sharing. However, this method requires that you open all files over the network, which will be slower than the direct-connect method above, and may also not work with all applications.

That's because you're using the same Apple ID on both devices. On your phone: Settings>FaceTime>You Can Be Reached at>Remove your Apple ID.

One of these resets might do the trick:
SMC RESET

Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
The 5 second timing is important to a successful reset.
PRAM RESET
Zap the PRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
If that doesn't help start it in Safe Mode and see if the problem persists.

2.3 year old iMac (27inch) Hard Drive failing. Does the drive have its own warranty?

My imac that is 2.3 years old is now having the S.M.A.R.T system saying the drive is "failing". Does the drive have its own warranty? That's not very old for a failure and most HD manufactures have a 3 year minimum. Now I wish I had bought the extended warranty period. Shish.

Is it possible to link and update external files in a Indesign document when sharing the Indesign file in Creative Cloud with multiple users?

I am new to Creative Cloud, but have been using Adobe software for many years.
Now we are considering sharing an Indesign file with my project group using CC.
The Indesign file contains links to external files (one Illustrator and multiple .txt files); and we export the approved version to an Hi-Res PDF.
These .txt files are currently hosted on our internal server but have not been linked directly: we first copy them over to local desktop and update the links in Indesign before creating a new PDF.
Since these file can be update by different people we would like to keep them outside the Indesign and Illustrator files.
Is it still possible with CC to link directly to the files on our server in Indesign and see if there have been updated?
Or can they also be stored in the CC cloud? Or is there another method?

This will work if you all use the file syncing of the Creative Cloud desktop application and then you use the Collaborate option for the folder containing all the files. Then it will work on each of your desktops.
Links to files will not work in the browser when viewing the InDesign document from https://creative.adobe.com/files.

Merging InDesign documents to overlay the pages

Hello, I have two InDesign documents. I need to merge them in a special way:
I need that the page 1 of the Document A and the page 1 of the Document B are merged both onto the page 1 of the resulting Document C, but so that the content of each would appear in different layer of the resulting document. This I need for all the 615 pages of the documents A and B. In simple words, I need to overlay the Document A and Document B onto the same pages. (Or, in other simple words, I would need to put the document A on top of the document B.)

PLACE the page from doc B into doc A. It will appear as a linked image and must be edited in the original.

Why has Apple not addressed the problems with its own software?

Since I seem to have made the fatal mistake of upgrading my lovely iMac to Snow Leopard, most of my iLife 09 products have ceased working. In particular iDVD, where as before on faithful Leopard it did its job 100% it now decides to crash whenever it feels like it, leaving me with a third party application to use. Myself, along with approx 2000 other users have the same problem, so come on Apple, why the problems with your own software?? and why are we still waiting??

Welcome to apple discussions. Question for you: Is your mac intel based?
If not, what's the objective in upgrading to Snow Leopard as opposed to continuing to work perfectly within Leopard? What added features were you considering to upgrade to? Are there any benefits in doing this for your own mac (even if it is intel based)?
It's wise to approach all upgrades with caution (meaning always back up your current / working HD).
Frankly, the way I upgrade is to clone my existing hard drive and then boot to the clone. Thereafter, I install the latest upgrade or OS (assuming it works well on the clone). I guess what I'm saying is to never upgrade without backing up and performing a test drive of the latest OS before you opt to alter your main hard drive. One can't assume that the latest and greatest Mac OS will continue to work fine on a mac which didn't first ship with this particular OS.
This latest Mac OS /Snow Leopard is a bold step forward for apple. It's bold step forward in that it excludes all non-intel based macs.

Why did my bookmarks icon disappear and why is my bookmarks menu suddenly on the left side?

Recently, Firefox updated to 23.0.1 (beta?) and once the browser was back up, I noticed that my bookmark icon (the star) was gone. I fixed the problem easily enough by setting it back up to where it originally was. Now my problem is that when I click the icon, my menu appears on the left side of the screen rather than the right as it did previously before the update. I downgraded to 22 and that didn't fix the problem. I would really like for the menu to be back on the right side, as the left is just frustrating me. I did not find any quick fix in the customization menu, or in safe mode. Can anyone help me out?
