Why is my ipad 4 battery running down so fast?

I've had my 4th generation iPad for a couple of weeks now and have noticed the battery runs down so fast.  I've been to Apple twice and have done everything they've suggested and have tried everything I could come up with to no avail.  Granted....I upgraded from a first generation and realize that with the retina screen it would be less but come on...just from normal Internet searching it loses so much.  I'm afraid to see the loss with the movies and games I usually watch and play.  Any thoughts?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Why does the Battery run down so fast?

Im a first time BB user And really need to know how long should the BB 8520 battery life last- I bought the phone 4 days ago And had to charge it twice since then.
I understand why the battery ran down the first 2 days- used the phone a lot to input data And load pictures, music..... But after the second charge I hardly used the phone( only received text message, phone calls ) I did no browsing, no facebook, no IM, didn't listen to music, didn't take any pictures, didn't receive any emails yet- my BIZ has not yet been activated.
This morning it was 100% And now its 70% - And as I said I only received And sent text messages (SMS) And phone calls
am I being silly And should I just expect that from BB.
And should I switch the phone off at night or just leave it in bed side mode?

    Dear friends from BlackBerry,
First, I´m sory for my bad english.
I live in Brazil and i have a blackberry curve 8520, my problem is the battery.
I try shut off all conections (the wifi, bluetooth, including the moblie phone conection), with the keyboard locked and the phone in stand-by, but the battery dies before the 5 hours (run down very fast).
I want to know how i fix it?
Thank for attentio and the help.

  • Why is battery running down so quickly on IPad mini

My battery runs down to 31%within 4 hours of use. I play a few games of candy crush, check mail and do a few Internet searches. iPad is less than 6 months old. Anyone with similar problems or suggestions?

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

  • Why is my battery running down on an iPhone 4 running iOS 7?

Why is my battery running down on my iPhone 4 when I'm not using my phone and all apps are closed?  My phone will have a full charge at night, no apps running. Bluetooth is off, automatic updates are off, backgroud app refresh is off, and by morning the battery's charge has dropped to 50%.  Some nights it will only drop 1-2% though, with no changes made. How can I fix this?
Also, since the update I am not receiving push notifications for some apps that I have them turned on for (turned on both in settings, and the app itself).
Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated.

I had been having battery problems with my Iphone 5 and decided to make a trip to the genuis bar, in the end they replaced my battery and reset my software because i had a failing battery and the hardware was malfunctioning. You may have something similar. I would recommend making a reservation to the genius bar online. They can then run a diagnostic on your iphone and get back detailed results on the current condition of your battery and wether or not the software controlling it is working. If you have applecare currently then they can replace the battery for free, if not there is a charge of around $70. If it turns out you have a different problem than they probably will be able to find out and give you better advice than I can!
    Good Luck!

No.  That is not a problem for the battery.

  • Do I need to let my iPad's battery run all the way down before charging it the first time I use it?

I bought a new iPad mini and was wondering if I need to let the battery run down to the point where it shuts off on its own before charging it for the first time. I know the battery degenerates on its own over time, but I'm trying to get the most out of my battery so any help you can give would be much appreciated.
    Thanks for your help.

No. Just use your iPad and don't obsess about its battery. It will last for years.

I just got my iPhone Saturday (it's a 5) and I notice my battery runs down quite quickly!  I also just added hot spot, but cannot locate it on my phone to enable/disable it.

Try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own.

  • Memory content lost when the battery runs down

My computer sometimes saves memory content when the battery runs down, as it is supposed to, so that when it restarts it is restored to the state it was in,  but at other times it does not.
Is there a way to find out why this is and fix it?

    Thanks for the reply.
Doesn't Apple recommend that you do exercise the battery by using its full capacity? They even recommend running it down from full until the computer saves the contents of memory to the special file, then leaving it 5 hours before charging fully again.
I have never heard of the 20% threshold before.
The odd behaviour in my case is that the computer sometimes does what is should: saves the memory then shuts down and when started restores that data, but at others does not save the data first, and starts up normally when I plug in the power and switch on.

  • Battery runs down while sleeping

Just noticed this recently that my PB's battery runs down significantly while supposedly closed and sleeping. Any ideas why this would be happening? For example, put it in my bag yesterday at 8 am fully charged and took it out today at 9:30 pm at 28%. It use dto never do that. Thoughts?
    Thanks.

Thanks for answering. The PB is set to go to sleep after about 5 minutes. The display goes to sleep after 1 minute of inactivity. I have checked to put the hard disks to sleep whenever possible.

  • Hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. Can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. How to fix this, please?

I had hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now it is looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. I can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. I think a big part of the problem is that someon one the internet (the hacker) was mirroring my hard drive. It seems to have locked up my system. I could be wrong about this guess, though. All I do know is that it is now looping on the last 4 iems, and I can't do anything.
Well, I can get it to turn on, but all it does is continously try to delete the last 4 items. When I try to reload Snow Leopard, it tells me my hard drive is full and that I need to delete items.
Can anyone help? I am so lost without my Mac. I am back on the PC, and though it works, I'm sure many of you will understand when I say it's just not a Mac.
    Thanks.

I installed Snow Leopard using my Apple external Superdrive. I followed directions I found on the Apple site. Here is the article info:  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard: How to Erase and Install
                     Article HT3910
                     located at: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3910
Everything was going smoothly until I got to the reinstall part. I had to choose to reinstall on a hard drive or network drive. I've never used a network drive; just the hard drive. It seems that's where the troubles began. I selected the hard drive. It seemed to go well, and then I got the message that I needed to delete some files because I was out of space. I chose to get rid of my music files, but, there were only 636. I don't know what the rest of the files were. I was using the Secure Empty Trash command.
That was my first time doing an erase and install. I tried to do it again, but I now get a continuous error telling me that my hard drive is full and I must delete files. Only I can't delete files because 4 files are still being deleted and my computer won't let me stop the process.
I found out about the hackers mostly by the fact that whenever I used to watch something like Hulu or Netflix, I never had problems with internet connection or speed. Lately, I had internet connection problems. I went in to check my settings for my internet provider and found out the settings had been changed to public and all these extra computers were connected to my network.

  • Battery runs down quickly and case is hot

I've developed a problem with the battery running down quickly after a full overnight charge and I notice the case is getting hot. I had a Mophie battery pack on it and it needs to be switched to the battery pack every day, now. This was not an issue until a few days ago. Is there an internal problem? I do not have any apps running and the cache is cleared of any saved or recently viewed programs.
