Why is my ipad backup much bigger after transferring itunes to a new PC?!

Hi,
I tried to migrate my itunes from my laptop on windows 7 professional (64) to my desktop on vista 64 home premium (both have the latest version of itunes). I used a tool called copytrans to migrate and it worked great. When I opened itunes and set the media folder in preferences to the right location, all my music and apps showed up. I then authorized my account.
I had my iphone 3gs (jailbroken) and ipad 2 synced and backed up to my laptop itunes. The folder ...\appdata\roaming\apple computer\mobilesync is 1.34GB on my laptop. Now when I connected my iPad 2 to my desktop it starts backing up, but the backup stops with the mobilesync folder at 6.4GB (at which point my C drive is full). Is itunes trying to copy the whole ipad to my c drive or something? This is crazy. Any help would be much appreciated.
I love my ipad and iphone  but God I hate itunes. Is there anything more frustrating than this piece of junk!?

Edit again - My mistake, it turns out my iPad wasn't being backed up on my laptop although I thought it was. So if anybody else comes across this issue you can check to see if your device is backed up or not by right clicking it in itunes and selecting restore, and seeing if the device appears. If you have the same issue as me of disk space you can do this to relocate the backup file:

I still hate itunes though

  • Permissions Issues after Transferring iTunes Library to new Mac.

My intention is to move the library off my old iMac, and keep the iTunes library on the new one, while still keeping the old iMac around.  After the transfer i intend to delete the library off the old one, and use HomeSharing to utlize iTunes on both Macs.  Also, the old iMac is where our family has synced ever iPod, iPhone, & iPad we've owned...  I've been on the support community for almost two days now, and thought I had it figured out, but... i obviously don't.  So i apologize if there is a thread that already answers this question, if so, please be kind
in the process of moving my iTunes from my old iMac (iMac7,1 - OS X 10.6.8) to my new iMac (iMac Late 2012 - OS X 10.8.5) i used the instructions on: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.  It identified how to move the library found in (on my old iMac) VolumeA/music/iTunes.  I used the External Hard Drive method, only I linked up the two iMacs with an Ethernet cable (direct connect, no router) and copied the iTunes folder (as described in the instructions) to the desktop of the new iMac. Then I pasted the iTunes folder over the existing folder on the new iMac.
Now I'm having trouble with permissions on the new iMac now.   At first iTunes wouldn't even open.  It said I didn't have permission, or the library was in a locked file.  I thought I had it figured out by going into "get info"  in the iTunes folder (on the new iMac) and adjusting the permissions.  which worked as far as allowing iTunes to open now (Both computers are running iTunes 11.1 (126)).
Now that i've synced my iphone 5 with the iTunes (on the new iMac) i noticed that some of the songs wouldn't sync because I don't have permission...?
Beginning to think I've screwed this whole thing up...
Also, I noticed that there is another iTunes folder, that wasn't discussed in this article:  VolumeA/Library/iTunes - Do i need to copy this one over as well?
I'm such a noob at this that i'm almost embarrased to ask for some help, but PLEASE HELP!!  I haven't touched my old iMac's library, and won't until
Thanks in advance for anything you can do!

It helps to know which instructions you are following.  Some people follow the wrong instructions and just move media, not the whole library which consists of many files and folders.  You do not do it with changing preferences.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Why does my iPad backup not show up in iTunes?

Everytime I attempt to backup my iPad, the screen on the iPad goes to the Apple logo startup and either holds on that or intermittently comes back w/ the "Sync in Progress" message. I let it go all the way to completion...it appears in iTunes as if alll is normal (albeit slow). When it completes I check iTunes to see if it's available to restore from and it doesn't show on the list. My hard disk has obviously gotten 20 or so GB more full and there's a new backup file in the Mobile Sync library directory. I have scoured the message boards about this particular problem and have tried almost everything suggested. I delete the backup folder. I do a hard reset on the iPad. I have deleted and removed as much as I can from the iPad and gotten about 5GB of space. I upgraded my MBP OS from Leopard to Snow Leopard. Some have mentioned deleting and re-installing iTunes, but I figured the OS refresh basically was the equivalent of that. Any other suggestions? Could I/should I consider backing up to my work MBP or is the problem in the iPad itself? Would love to not have to wipe my iPad and lose music and other original files I don't have backed up. But also am patiently waiting to upgrade to iOS 5!

MBP 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

These are the instructions for that specific code.
Error 40265xxxx: Errors of the 40265xxxx range generally occur during the restore-from-a-backup  phase, after  iOS has been installed on the device. Restoring the  device and setting up as new can resolve the issue. Before restoring as  new, take steps to preserve the previous backups created by iTunes, such  as copying the contents of the Backup directory onto the desktop. See iPhone and iPod touch:  About backups to learn where backups are stored for your  computer's operating system and additional precautionary notes regarding setting up as new. I think you are going to have to restore as new. Deleting that MobileSync backup folder may have caused the problem. When you delete the backup from iTunes like I was asking about, you are only deleting one particular backup. If you have multiple iDevices - all of the backups would be in that one folder - I think that's how it works.

  • Can't sync iPod after transfering iTunes content to new computer.

After following these instructions very carefully http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329 to use my iPod to transfer my iTunes content to a new computer, I cannot sync the iPod to the new computer's iTunes. I see all my music in the iTunes Library, and have authorized my new iTunes, but the music won't sync.  When I hit sync, it says it's syncing, then a few seconds later says finished syncing, but nothing is on my iPod.  Can anyone help?

Did you review if the sync settings you had established for your iPod carried over? You might have to re-select what you want ynced.
Just a thought, if you are not getting any error messages.

Restore iPad to Factory Default; do not restore from backup. It may be the cause of the problem.

  • Why is Time machine backup not working after Mavericks upgrade?

Why is Time machine backup not working after Mavericks upgrade?

I had the same problem due to the Fire Wire port.  Apple tested it told me it is OK!, I tried a new cable, and have tested both ports on my back up device.  I find it strange that as soon as I installed Mavericks.  The drive does work using USB.  It could be a coincidence, I don't absolutely know at this point, my back up drive ports could stop working, but I doubt it!

  • Cannot backup and sync after updated iTunes

Cannot backup and sync after updated iTunes. Have tried to hard reset iPhone (all data lost- sad) and reinstalled iTunes. Still cannot work.

It sounds like you bough the song only, not the song and the ringtone.
Ringtones via itunes are available in the U.S. only.
In the U.S. to make a ringtone you:
Buy the song with a bell - 99 cents
Find the song in your library and click the bell
    This bring up the editor.
You edit the song to the portion you want.
Then click buy to purchase the ringtone - another 99 cents.
Then it shows up in ringtones and you can sync.
As I said, this method of creating ringtones is available in the U.S. only.
There are, however, many ways to make ringtones:

Check to make sure you don't have your restrictions turned on, which may be preventing your access to iTunes.
Tap on the settings icon, then tap General, then check to see if you have restrictions turned to ON.  If so turn it off.

  • Why are my legira hfm36 files so much bigger after import to iMovie?

    Hello
When i import files from my camcord legira hfm36 the files become much lagrer after import... :-/
What is wrong, i use 32gb sdhc card in cam and When i import it All it Will take 270 gb space??? Why...
    Palle

AVCHD which is likely the format you are shooting in create a .mts or .m2ts file that is highly, highly compressed as it is saved onto the camera. When it is decompressed and imported into iMovie it can expand up to between 40+ and at a max 75 Gbytes for each hour of video shot. So there's no free lunch when you shoot High Definition video on the typical AVCHD video cam, the space available you have to expand those video clips is going to evaporate very quickly. So consider purchasing an external USB hard drive as quickly as possible.

  • Reconfiguring an iPad 2 with different content after transferring content to a new iPad 3?

My wife and I bought new iPad 3s with the intent of transfering our data from the old iPad 2s and giving those to our grandchildren. Since my new iPad 3 is now synced with iTunes, how do I go about removing the old content from the iPad 2s and loading new, child-friendly games and movies without confusing teh syncs with the new iPad 3s? It's probably simple, but I'm leery of causing problems with one or the other iPad.
