Why is my iPad browser so slow?

I have been very disappointed in the performance of my iPad.  For a device that was designed for apps and and web browsing, it is extremely slow.  I did a PHP speed test from LifeHacker (http://cache.lifehacker.com/assets/resources/stopwatch.php) on my old Centrino 2 laptop and my iPad 1, which are physically side-by-side on the same high speed wireless internet connection.  My iPad has full signal.  For example, it took my laptop an average of 4.4 seconds to fully load LifeHacker on Chrome, while my iPad takes an average of 15.9 seconds on Safari.  Why is this?  Is there a fix?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

When web browsing a web page the download frequently gets stuck half to 3/4 done.  If I click in the address bar ( stops the download) then click on the screen (puts the refresh arrow at end of address bar) then click refresh arrow then 7/10 times the page loads immediately.  It is as though the browser is waiting for something that is not being delivered and it made me wonder about iAds.
I have tried
- clearing the cache (settings, safari, clear history, clear cookies and data)
- deleting website data (settings, safari, advanced, website data, delete all),
- deleted files (movies etc) to free up space,
- have done a hard reset,
- have done a settings reset (settings, general, reset, reset all settings),
- backup, reset and restore from backup,
all made no difference.
I was also having the same problem on my iphone 3gs, my wifes new iPad and her iPhone 4gs, I then turned off iAds on the iPad (settings, location, services, system services, location based iAds) and it made some difference but only seemed to reduce the problem by 20%
I also have Microsoft computers on the network that do not have the "stuck browser" problem.

Why does the IPad 4 discharge so fast and be so slow to recharge

    Hello, willismom.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Battery life can be difficult to troubleshoot as multiple factors contribute to how long a charge can last.  Graphic intensive applications, display brightness and data connectivity are just a few of the items that can cause the battery life to decrease rapidly.  I would need to know a little more information about your usage patterns to give you and idea on how to maximize battery life.  However, here are some tips on how to adjust settings and charge the device that may help.

  • IPad browsing extremely slow

    Hi,
Over the past few months internet browsing on my iPad has become unbearably slow. I have cleared cookies and cache, rebooted the iPad (holding down sleep and Home keys until the Apple appears), and even installed another browser (Grazing) to see if it was just a Safari thing. It is not. I have an iPad 1, and have primarily used it to do internet browsing and book reading.
This did not happen when I installed the 5.1.1 OS. However, it was not until after I did install 5.1 that the response time started degrading. Now, I really don't want to even try to browse, because it has become so bad.
Also, this is not a bandwidth speed thing because the response time on my Mac laptop and on my iPhone are absolutely within an acceptable range.
Does anyone have any ideas about why this may be happening, or have any suggestions about how I might be able to speed things up?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
    Cheers,
    GB

    Thanks Diavonex,
I'm off to get a new MacBook Air on Monday, so before going through the pain of restoring, I will see how my browsing habits may change with my new device. My iPad is MOST wonderful for all of the other things I use it for - mail, book reading, doing art with Brushes, finding out what bird that is sitting on my deck....locating places in the world when they are referenced in a book I'm reading.
So, if I just end up doing all of my browsing via my new Mac.....won't be the worst thing that ever happened.....
(as you can tell, I'm avoiding the whole "restore" saga like the plague.....) But, in the end, if I have to, then I will!
Thanks for the idea - at least it is something that may help!!!
    Cheers,

My browser speed has become painfully slow. Not always......but a lot. I use CHROME most of the time. Already checked with my internet provider and the signal is strong on my wireless. "Cleaned up" where I could.......but still have a very slow browser. Any suggestions?

  • Why is the ipad 2 so slow with the ios 8.o.2 update?

After the update to ios 8 my ipad 2 wifi is a lot slower than before it is possible to return to ios 7?

The first thing to do is update your iPad to iOS 8.1. This latest update solves some of the problems of the earlier versions. afte you update, if you still have problems, I suggest you start a new question that gives a good title to a specific problem. Then in the body of the thread describe the problem in detail, tell us what steps you have tried so far to correct the problem, what happened, and what error messages you received.

  • Ipad browser is slow

I have a new airport, a mac book and just bought an IPad2.  At my home, the Ipad is slower than the laptop.  On the laptop the wireless status shows all bars.  In the same room, the IPad only shows the bottom two bars, indicating that the signal picked up by the laptop is much stronger than the signal picked up by the IPad, which suggests the Ipad is less able to pick up what is available.  Is there any way to reconcile that?  Is the Ipad just inferior to the laptop?

On the iPad. Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
    Restart the iPad.
For Safari try this. Tap Settings / Safari. Clear the History, Cookies, and Cache.

  • Why is my iPad running so slow

I am having problems with slow loading of downloading apps, using the Internet and just my iPad running slow in general. I have netgear Internet not sure of model. Really gettin annoyed with it all. Anyone got any idea how to fix it

Double click on the home button to expose the app tray. Close all of the apps by tapping and holding on one until they begin to wiggle, then tap the "-" on each one until they are all closed. You may have to swipe to find them all.
Reset the iPad: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the iPad shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. When shutdown is complete, turn the iPad back on.

  • Why is my iPad 2 so slow in recharging?

When charging my iPad 2 (32 Gb; Verizon) it takes at least 3 hours and more to achieve a full charge using the charging unit that came with the iPad. Friends of mine with the same model iPad do it I half that time. What gives?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Why is my iPad so slow after ios7 upgrade?

why is my ipad running so slow after the ios7 upgrade?

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • Why is the iPad so slow on the net?

Internet (and phone etc) all on cable with nominal download speed of 60Mb (reduces a bit when going to computer via router).
Have added wireless access point (rated 300Mb) so I can connect the iPad (bought last Friday).
Connections all fine, but the browsing speed on the iPad is painfully slow. I see lots of other comments going back a year or two, so obviously Apple know about this - so why isn't it fixed yet?
I am not very clued up on the wireless system, so maybe I've missed something; I'd like to know what might be causing the iPad to be so slow compared with my PowerMac.

Went to Apple shop in town.
Assistant there said it was the provider's problem, not Apple's; she added that her own download speed was officially 12, but she only gets 4.
