Why is my iPad so slow using verizon 3g verses wifi

why is my iPad so slow using verizon 3g verses wifi?

My older sister has an iPhone 4S with Verizon, and my iPhone 4S is with AT&T.
At Xmas this past year, I used the same speed test app on her iPhone and on mine to check each carrier's download and upload speed. This was in Dallas where both carriers have good coverage. My download and upload speeds with AT&T blew her iPhone's download/upload speeds with Verizon out of the water. Wasn't even close.

Why is my iPad running slow and closes a page when I'm on it?

Some general troubleshooting steps in order:
Terminate the Safari Application and restart it. Click the Home button to return to App screen. Double click Home to bring up the App tray. Touch and hold the Safari icon until “-” appears. Touch the “-” to terminate Safari. Terminate all other Apps listed as well. Then restart Safari.
Use Settings > Safari > Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data
Restart iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off the device. To turn it back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
Reset iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off".
Restore iPad: Connect to iTunes on a PC/Mac and do a restore.

  • Why QuickTime on iPad is slow? How to fix it?

Why QuickTime on iPad is slow? How to fix it?

What version of iOS is the iPad on ? If it's on iOS 7.0.3 (5.1.1 if it's a first gen iPad) then it's up-to-date - if it isn't then your friend can update directly on the iPad (if it's on iOS 5+) or via their computer's iTunes (copy any purchases off it first, File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, and take a backup) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If the soft-reset hasn't fixed it, then has your friend tried restoring to their last backup and/or back to factory defaults (which will remove all content from it) and then resyncing their content ?

Why is my iPad so slow or freezing since the iOS 8.02 update?

Do a reset, no data loss.  Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the ipad to boot back up.
If that doesn't help - settings - general - reset - reset network settings - no data loss, however you will need to reenter known wifi passwords.

why is my ipad so slow after updating it to iOs7

The iPad 2 is not as powerful as more modern iPads.
Backround updates (iCloud, App Downloads and updates - it can take a while after iPad was updated for these to stop.) , will slow things alot. The screen effects can be turned off, speed up things.
Here are two links with tips on speeding things up

why is my ipad running so slow after the ios7 upgrade?

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.

  • My iPad is being used at home on wifi but some how running up 8gb in a month of mobile data charges??? It's a pad 2

As above since getting my iPad replaced I used almost 6gb last month but was using it on 3G for a week. In July only used it on home wifi network but orange say I have used 8gb of mobile data and slapp me with a 250 quid bill. Help! I am not thick i have turned off mobile data but have not used it at home on wifi.

You've somehow already pinpointed the problem, of course (Office).  Many people seem to run it successfully. Maybe re-install it?
Anyway, if this were happening to me, I would be looking more closely (via Activity Monitor) at how the RAM is being used.  With "All Processes" being shown, sort by "Real Memory" and see who is the hog.

  • Why is the iPad so slow on the net?

Internet (and phone etc) all on cable with nominal download speed of 60Mb (reduces a bit when going to computer via router).
Have added wireless access point (rated 300Mb) so I can connect the iPad (bought last Friday).
Connections all fine, but the browsing speed on the iPad is painfully slow. I see lots of other comments going back a year or two, so obviously Apple know about this - so why isn't it fixed yet?
I am not very clued up on the wireless system, so maybe I've missed something; I'd like to know what might be causing the iPad to be so slow compared with my PowerMac.

Went to Apple shop in town.
Assistant there said it was the provider's problem, not Apple's; she added that her own download speed was officially 12, but she only gets 4.

  • Why is my iPad so slow?

Is there any way to improve the speed of my ipad2?  I clean off the old screens pretty frequently and update when prompted, but it's still slow.

If you are saying that you completely closing apps frequently (cleaning off screens) maybe you should try some basic steps to try to get the iPad running better again.  When iOS 8 was first released and users were talking about crashes or decreased performance, I posted this boilerplate of suggestions that you can try to help improve performance. You may want to think about restoring the iPad as I suggest below, if nothing else that you try works.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data
Now close all apps. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If those three things made no difference, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.
If all of that fails, restore the iOS software. Backup your iPad before you restore, then restore the backup when you are done. If that still doesn't help, restore your iPad as new and start all over again. Most purchased content can be downloaded again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID and as long as the content is still available in the store.

  • Why has my Ipad become slow when loading Keynote presentations?

I use Keynote on Ipad as a presentation tool.  Recently, the Ipad has been slow to load a presentation (up to 3 seconds after selecting a particular presentation).  It also randomly updates presentations that haven't been used recently.  Any thoughts?

Restore iPad to Factory Default; do not restore from backup. It may be the cause of the problem.
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

  • Why is my iPad running slow since upgrading to 5.0.1?

Since my iPad was upgraded to 5.0.1 it seems to run slower and now it's been crashing out of applications frequently.  Any ideas?  I reboot it all the time to get it to run at a decent speed.

I didn't suffer anything like that with mine, but have hear about people who had the same after restoring from backup. Some said that restore the iPad from scratch (not from a previous backup) solved the problem.
