Why is my IPad taking 3 days to charge?

Why is my IPad taking 3 days to charge.

How are you charging it? If you are using the outlet adapter and the cable provided with the device, it should only take an hour or two to fully charge.
If, however, you are using a non-Mac PC (or a much older Mac) and attempting to charge using the USB port on your computer, then that might be a problem.
A standard USB port on a PC has a max power output of 2.5W (5V @ 500mA). A USB port on a late-model Mac has a max power output of 5.5W (5V @ 1100mA). In practice, some PCs don't always put out a full 2.5W (particularly if there are other devices on the bus draining power).
If you plug an iPad into a standard PC USB port, the iPad will trickle-charge while the iPad is turned off. It's slow, but it will eventually charge. If you plug it into a Mac, the iPad will negotiate a 5W connection (the Mac can only support high-power mode on a a certain number of ports concurrently), and the iPad will charge, but slower than using the wall charger.
If this is the issue, the solution is simply to use the wall charger and don't attempt to use your computer to charge the iPad.

Why is my ipad taking so long to charge.  I upgraded to iso7.01 and it takes forever and I am not happy

Have you reset you iPad,or tried deleting the apps that are crashing and then opening them again.  Or closing them and reopening them. Also clear Safari and see it that helps. There have been a few other posts like yours , and I can't figure out why it happens to some ipads and not others. I have not even seen what happens with a "crash" occurs and I use mine all the time. Good luck.

  • IPad taking all day to charge.  Is there another option to charge?

Anyone know of a third party option to solve this problem? Probably my first real issue with Apple products.  Really poor design.

Why don't you charger the new ipad through the night? My wife can use her ipad for at least 2 days to run out of the battery and I told her just charge one night every two days of use.
Bigger capacity of the battery ==> longer to charge
Slower charging ==> longer battery life !

why do my ipad mini never get fully charged? the most is only up to 92percent

This seems to be a problem with a few Mini users. Just unplug the charger and then replug. It should then charge to 100%.

  • Why is the IPad 4 so slow to charge and fast to discharge ??

Why does the IPad 4 discharge so fast and be so slow to recharge

    Hello, willismom.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Battery life can be difficult to troubleshoot as multiple factors contribute to how long a charge can last.  Graphic intensive applications, display brightness and data connectivity are just a few of the items that can cause the battery life to decrease rapidly.  I would need to know a little more information about your usage patterns to give you and idea on how to maximize battery life.  However, here are some tips on how to adjust settings and charge the device that may help.

  • Why is my iPad3 taking too long to charge? (I bought it in Korea and brought it to Philippines)

How long should an Ipad3 be charged?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • New iPad taking 3 days to download tv show and still not downloaded

I purchased 3 tv shows 3 days ago and they still haven't downloaded onto my iPad, they keep stopping. So I have to restart and it's
Really starting to annoy me. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I fix it??

What kind of internet do you have? And are you trying to download via 3 or 4G or wifi?
Your iPad - generally - is only as fast as the internet it's connected to. Also, for example, if you're at a library or such place, they have been known to put data caps on users so that they don't get too many people coming in and downloading gigs and gigs on their network (it's a 'don't download illegal stuff we'll be blamed for' tactic)

  • Why are my emails taking several days to reach their target?

I have recently been awaiting replies to emails, only to find - several days later - that my emails are taking a few days to be recieved. This is not a device specific problem - as it is consistently happening across a multitude of devices. It appears to be a problem with either my account, or with the apple mail servers in general.
I'm about to start making the transition away from my icloud mail as a result - perhaps to gmail. I'd rather not. Help.
    Please

That's a new one on me.  Haven't come across posts with this same issue.  Is there anything unusual about your "situation"?  Do you live on Fiji?  Do you see the cable company trucks in your neighborhood?  Are the Canada Geese filling your skies?
Just out of curiosity, if you send yourself an email, how long does it take to reach you?  (Seriously)

  • TS2634 Why would my ipad Smart Cover suddenly stop charging?

HHI my ipad Smart Cover suddenly has stopped charging when I close it. Can anyone give me a reason it might do that?

    Gotcha...figured it was worth mentioning.
What I would do next (provided you've exhausted everything else) would be to backup the device using iTunes...backup your media as well. Then restore the device as new, not using any backup. After the initial setup, don't install any apps or media. Test for the issue. If the issue is present after restoring as new, that a good indication that there's a hardware issue. If the issue is not present after restoring as new, the issue a likely a botched/borked setting somewhere in the backup of the iPad. In this case (and assuming you want to clear the issue), you'll have to rebuild your device (apps media, settings, everything) from the restored as new state. This won't be pleasant or enjoyable but it may need to be done if you want to clear the issue. I had to do this recently to clear a different issue and I know it's not easy, especially all of the settings involved. I may have it a bit easier than most since I keep my iPads pretty empty...my 16 GB devices have more than 8 GB free on average (3 - 4 GB used).

  • Why does my iPad 1 not hold a charge

For past couple of days ipad1 won't hold it's charge for more than an hour or so, charged it overnight and seemed to be ok but quickly drained. Any advice would be welcome.

    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue, i.e. battery.

  • Why does my ipad not work properly when charging

when my ipad is plugged to charger it does not work properly  goes crazy

Not sure what 'goes crazy' means but it most likely should not do that.  Try a reset... press the home and sleep/lock buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Also try it plugged into another outlet (on another circuit) and/or try another charger.

  • Why does my iPad say it's not charging even though it's plugged in?

Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

If you are trying to charge from a USB port on your computer, the port may not supply enough power to charge the iPad. It may even be charging but very very slowly and it will say not charging. You should use the power adapter that came with the iPad and plug the adapter into  a wall socket for the most efficient way to charge.

  • IPad shows it's fully charged at 90%

When I charge my iPad, once it hits about 90%, the battery icon changes to plug, means "Fully Charged". After leaving the iPad plugged in for about one hour it eventually reaches 100% charge.
My question is, why does the iPad show it is fully charged when only at 90%?
    Thanks!

    Michael,
If I'm not mistaken, charge cycle on an iPad is the same as on a Mac portable computer. 1 charge cycle = 100% discharge. So, 92-100 would only be 8% of a charge cycle. If you charge your iPad from 50% to 100% on 2 separate days, that is only 1 charge cycle, not 2.
You're correct, and I'm remiss in using the same term as Apple does in their literature (which, btw, is pretty good on this topic) without it meaning the same thing to me. I should instead be saying something like charging actions, I.e., the simple matter of plugging in and charging up.
Nominal battery life for the iPad is set at 1000 cycles, as you correctly defined it. Conditions and patterns of use, however, will have an effect on that number. All else being equal, battery life will be reduced when operating at higher temperatures. Batteries which are not stored for long lengths of time before entering into use will have longer lives than those which are.
Another characteristic of these batts are the deposits which build up inside each time a charging current is applied. You can't avoid this happening, it's the main driver of battery life, and .... most significant of all, to me at least .. the fact that the heaviest or quickest buildup of these deposits takes place right at the start of each charging action.
The question then, is whether there is any downside to having multiple charging actions every day, as in perhaps plugging it into a charger whenever it's not in use. My own answer to that is yes, it will have one. How significant? Don't know, and no way to tell without running some long, boring trials. All I can say is that, for me, the advantages in avoiding that pattern of use are obvious enough, even while admitting we are still years away of being able to know if battery life is going to bs the main driver in EOL decisions on our happy little machines.
I agree, though, on the exact battery readout. I was just trying to explain the behavior. And the indicators are notoriously inaccurate.
And will become more so, per Apple and other guidance, if you omit the "monthly run it to empty".
