Why is my iphone 4 not connecting to wifi

So I have had my Iphone 4 for two years and it has been great. Last week i bought a new computer and when we hooked it up my phone started acting up to the wifi and says unable to join. I dont know if the new compter has anything to do with it or not. My fiances iphone 5 still connects. i call my phone company and they reset our internet and i can then join on but then it kicks me right back off. I just want it fixed!! lol

Sounds too coincidental to have both phones go bad at once on the same day.
It could still be your router, even if you have reset it.
Have you tried connecting to another WIFI network, like a public WIFI or neighbor's?

Have you tryed to restore the iPhone too ?
Restore the phone in iTunes using a backup, and if needed as a new iPhone, without using a backup.  However, the greyed out WiFi is often due to a hardware failure requiring replacement of the phone.

At the very least, I recommend you restart your router, (your internet box).
More detail on your problem is needed - are you in a submarine? On the moon? On a tropical island?
You can help yourself by providing as much info as you can about your present situation - what kind of router do you have? Have you moved it? DId you update it?  Did you do anything to change your setup, and if you did, what?

  • IPhone will not connect to WiFi

My iPhone will not locate my wifi even though all other devices connect to it no problem. It's like the network isn't even there.
This happens every couple of weeks and I have to go to settings -> general -> reset -> reset network settings and then it works again. I guess this is a bug having to do with too many stored networks? Why doesn't apple fix it?
Today the usual solution didn't work and neither a hard reset.
How can I fix this? Thanks.

If no change after resetting network settings, try restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
If no change after doing this, more than likely there is a hardware failure. The iPhone includes a one year warranty.

  • Iphone 5s not connecting to wifi

    Hello,
I bought new iphone 5s and when tried to connect to wifi for initial setup it doesn't connect to the network.
But my other iphone 4s and ipad are connecting to this wifi and there is no issues on the network.
I tried to reset the network setting and even I done complete reset also. But still my new iphone 5s is not connecting to wifi.
Can any one provide me an solution for this issue. Thanks.

MAC address filtering is not turned on and it is not entered into the router.
There is no limit set on the number of connections.
The password which I entered is correct.
Yes, tried restarting the router by removing power for 5 mins.
I could able to connect my other apple devices into this wifi router. Only the new device is not connecting to wifi.
My new deivce has iOS 7.0.6. May be if I upgrade to iOS 7.1.1, this will work?

    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options. If you can turn Wi-Fi on but are experiencing other issues with Wi-Fi, please see these steps.

    Hi Alisadat,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
It sounds like you have intermittent Wi-Fi connection if you were able to update your iOS to 7.0.2?
Although you have tried some troubleshooting steps, I would suggest following the guide below in order to attempt to resolve this issue:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398?viewlocale=en_US
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

  • Why does my partners iPhone 4s not connect to WiFi, but a similar model does?

Me and my partner both have an iPhone 4s, both bought within a month of each other about 18 months ago, with the same iOS version (7.0.2 (11A501) ), same model number (MD235B/A), and same modem firmware number (5.0.00).  However, while mine has never had a problem connecting to Wi-Fi anywhere, hers will not connect at home unless she is stood right next to the router.  The signal progressively dies off as she gets into the next room, and wont reconnect to the Wi-Fi.  My exact same phone has no problems.
When my partner is out and about and accessing Wi-Fi there is absolutely no problem at all, it connects fine and is completely usable as you would expect.  The only issue is our connecting at home.
I have already attempted to reset the network settings and this gave a very weak signal, but useable.  She left the house, came back, and once again the iPhone wouldn't find the Wi-Fi.
Going into my router, it showed the device as 'Inactive', so I deleted it to try and let it detect the phone as new, but while it allowed me to connect it to the router like before, it is not showing as a detected device in my router settings.
EDIT : 5 minutes after connecting, the phone has once again reverted to a 3G only signal and has lost the Wi-Fi connection.
My partner tells me that there was no problem before changing the security of the router about 7-8 months ago from WEP to WPA2, but I don't necessarily believe that.  I don't really see this as a problem anyway because in the past I've found the lesser security settings to cover up other problems along the way.
What else can I try to get this sorted?  I'm thinking that there is an actual problem with the phone rather than a settings issue, however it would be good to get some other advice.

    No-one at all?
This has never happened to anyone, nor can anyone offer advice?
If not then it's off to the Genius Bar

  • Why is my iPhone 4s not connecting to my apple airport?

My iPhone 4s is not connecting to my AirPort Extreme. It keeps saying "An unexpected error has occurred. Try again." I have tried resetting the airport and no help at all. My macbook can connect with no issues, so I am confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi - This worked for me - go to settings - choose Wi-Fi - press the arrow next to the network that you want to connect - choose "Forget This Network" - choose "Forget" - then press Settings and turn off the iPhone - turn it back on and wait it for it to reboot - then go to settings - choose Wi-Fi - press the Name of the network - enter the password and press "Join" - you should now be connected - let me know how you make out.

  • Iphone 4 not connecting to wifi

    All,
Suddenly my iphone 4 will not connect to my home wifi. There are 4 other devices currently connected that do not have issues (including my iPad, iMac and wife's iPhone 4.) The router logs show the attempt to connect "DHCP received a request from...)" but the phone will not connect. I have done the troubleshooting check list: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • My Iphone will not connect to WIFI

My iphone has worked fine with no problems connecting to the internet through WIFI. Recently my home network would not connect. the network shows up on the wifi search I click connect I type in the Network password and it says incorrect password.
I checked my router settings and even removed the WEP security and changed the network to none, so even when i try and connect it says...unable to connect to this network. I have also tried to connect to other wifi networks at different locations and they also don't work.
I have restored my iphone and still no change, I have also restored the network settings and still nothing...
    can anyone help?

The normal way to approach this on home networks is to
    1) Reboot the router by pulling out the power cord
    2) reset the iPhone's network settings - Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3) When your iPhone restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and re-enter your network name, security, and network password.
If you removed security on your router, reboot it before you try and connect to it. If you get it working, use WPA2 when you put security back on your network. WEP is highly vulnerable to cracking.
