Why is my iPhone 5 / iOS7 not connecting to hidden network?

It's a 2,4/5GHz Mixed network where iOS6 and older iPhones are connecting to the network but iOS7 / iPhone 5 not. I can't change the SSID or 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz settings because it's a corporate WiFi network.

Apple has clearly changed the behavior of the iPad 3 (at least) with regard to wi-fi networks which use a single SSID for 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals. The iOS 6.x behavior chose the 5GHz band first if usable, then fell back to 2.4GHz instead of using raw signal strength as the deciding factor. I now have significantly more iOS-based traffic on my 2.4GHz bands in my production network thanks to this change.
Apple, if you're listening, it'd be great if you reverted to the more intelligent algorithm; 5GHz will often appear weaker to endpoints but provide a vastly better experience in dense environments.

  • Hello my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi

Hello to all, with my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi. This only happens if I apply protection to the network. Unprotected my Iphone connects fine. Obviously the password to write error-free. I can not figure out what depends on this factor, however, another iphone connects fine. Help me please.

I have a similar, but slightly different problem. My iphone 4 recgonizes my home wifi and shows it under Settings, but will not access it, no signal shown, just 3G.  It will access other wifi signals.  My wife's iphone works fine, as does an ipad and macbook.  This is new for my iphone, about 2-3 days.
Help!  I reset network settings and rebooted the router (Apple), no avail

  • Why is my iphone 4 does not have cellular data network

Why is my iphone 4 does not have a cellular data network only cellular data

    Hi beingkejo,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Toggling Airplane mode and cellular data are good troubleshooting steps. If your iPhone still does not connect to cellular data automatically when Wi-Fi disconnects, I recommend the additional steps in this article:

  • HT1976 why is my iphone 4 does not have cellular data network only cellular data

why is my iphone 4 does not have a cellular data network and apn only cellular data without apn settings, thanks

    # Settings > Refresh apps on background. I would suggest to completely turn that off
    # Settings > Privacy > Location tracking > Only Maps, Google Maps are allowed to use location tracking in my case, you could also turn that off completely or be very selective which apps can use your GPS.
    # Settings > E-mail, calendar .. >deselect 'Push' and set it to either Fetch e.g. once an hour for all separate e-mail accounts you have. In your case you could set it to Manual so you won't use any data as long as you won't open your E-mail app and manually download e-mails.
It could also be that there is still an app running in the background as i had. See also this post.
In that case you need to dive into the Settings > General > Info > Diagnostics and Use >
Diagnostics and Use >logs per app to determine which app isn't closed although you turned off your phone (or even in my case reset to factory settings  without backup). It's unfortunately pretty hard to find the app that is causing this. Therefore i wish Apple would come up with a better solution for this to see which processes/app(s) should be killed (now the best solution is removing the app completely).

  • IPhone WiFi will not connect to home network.

iPhone will not connect to home network.  WiFi is on and correct password is entered.  iPhone error msg says incorrect password.  Reloaded network software and did not activate password but iPhone still shows network as locked.

Some people who experience issues connecting to or even seeing there Wireless network should follow these steps.
These steps are just a guideline and its not 100% that it will fix your issue.
Mainly, if the issue persists, its possible there is an issue with your iOS settings or a hardware failure within your iPhone or iPad, specifically the Wifi adapter.
You would want to follow these articles to do a reset & restore prior to saying it is a hardware issue.
    #1: Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
    #2: Restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You will need to access your Admin control panel for your router.
If you have an Airport Extreme BaseStation, you just need to open the Airport Admin Utility found in Applications > Utilities Folder.
Enter your credentials and you will have access to the settings from there.
For a PC: Do NOT use the CD that came with your router. That is used for people who do not know how to setup a router properly and these settings will not be available for you in most cases.
If you are using anything other than an Airport BaseStation:
    Open a web browser:
    In the address bar, type:
192.168.1.1 (Mainly used for Asus, Linksys, etc) or 192.168.0.1 (D-link,Belkin)
How to figure out what the IP address is to type in?
    Windows:
Hold down the windows key, then press R. This brings up the run box. In that box type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press enter. In the black box that pops up, type "ipconfig" (without quotes) then hit enter. Your default gateway is the IP address for your router. It will start with 192.168.....
Take that number and put it into the address bar in your browser and hit enter. It will then ask you for a user name and password. For linksys, it's admin for both. If you have another brand, just google "default password for ******" replacing the asterisks with the brand name of the router. Once you have entered the correct user name and password, you're there.
    Mac:
1.From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
2.In System Preferences, from the View menu, select Network.
3.Select the appropriate port. For example, choose Ethernet for broadbandconnections, AirPort for wireless, or Internal Modem for dial-up.
4.Click Advanced... , and in the sheet that opens, click the TCP/IP tab.
The number next to "Router:" is your default gateway.
Once you get into your admin panel do these setting changes.
1.On the router change the channel for the 2.4mhz band to channel 1, 6, or 11 (recommended), rather than auto.
2.Also set that channel width to 20hz only, rather than 20hz or 40hz (Auto)
3.Make sure Security is set to WPA/WPA2-Personal. Anything else will cause issues. (of course, make sure you know your password for security)
4.Make sure to Apply/Save these settings. Sometimes the wireless connectivity will go out during this change and will come back on within 15-30 seconds.
5.On the iPhone/iPad go to Settings > Wi fi > click the blue arrow beside the network > Select Forget network
6.Go to Settings > general > reset > reset network settings
7.Power the phone off and on. Connect again

  • Wifi on iPhone 3G will not connect to any networks

My iPhone 3G appears to no longer want to connect to any wifi networks.
I have two encrypted networks at home, both of which it is authorised on, and last week it decided not to play on either network. I have trouble-shooted (trouble-shot?) this by doing the following:
    - factory reset of iPhone (no restore of my settings)
    - unprotect wifi networks & try to connect
    - try to connect to known open public wifi networks
    - cycle wifi on and off again on phone
    - cycle airplane mode on and off
    - cycle phone on and off (hard reset)
    - restore of my settings to iPhone and try connections again as per above
In all cases I get the same message telling me the iPhone was unable to connect to the wireless network but no other information.
I'm suspecting a hardware fault, but before I lose my iPhone to a couple of weeks diagnostic testing does anyone have any suggestions for other things i could try to see if I can get it working.
    Thanks
    Andy

Yea - I've tried public wifi hotspots too (many of them which I know worked before) and none of them can be connected to.
I fear I will be phone less for a few days while Apple assess this to see if there is a fault with it.

  • Iphone 4 will not connect to wireless network

I have went to phone settings and connect to a network. The phone says known networks will be joined automatically. I clicked on my network, put in my passcode and it does nothing. I'm doing this to print pictures from my iphone 4 to my wireless printer.

I believe being able to print wirelessly is the best invention ever! With that being said, are you using the Air Print on the iPhone?

Have you been able to get a WiFi connection on the phone?

  • Why is my iphone 6 plus not connecting to my mac?

I am trying to connect my iPhone 6 Plus (iOS 8.0.2) to my iMac (Yosemite Beta) via bluetooth and the connection keeps on failing. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks in advance.

I had/have the same problem but it doesn't really matter. It seems you cannot actually pair iPhone and Mac devices in the usual way. You just need to have Bluetooth active on both devices then any app that needs them paired does it on the fly. So, Handoff, SMS, Calls, Airdrop etc. work OK without you having to manually pair the devices - just carefully follow the instructions in MAC Help. You need IOS 8 (maybe IOS 8.1 - not sure) on your phone and Yosemite on your Mac and Bluetooth active on both.
I wish the iMac Help actually explained the Bluetooth part It would have saved me a lot time playing around.

  • My iphone 4s is not connecting to 3G network?

How do i make my iphone 4s connect to the 3G network? It started having this issue a couple of days ago

contact your phone carrier as they handle network issues.

  • My iPhone 5 is not connecting to 3G network

My iphone5 is not getting connected to the 3G network since last couple of days. Have confirmed the settings. Is there something I need to check. Please suggest a way out other than rebooting, which I have kept as a last option

Rebooting is not a last option, it is one of the first. A reset, which is what reboots the phone, does not affect any data at all. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone then reboots. However, cellular connection issues can be caused by any number of things. A problem with the SIM card, A SIM that was manually cut down and damaged during that time, cellular tower issues. Try the reset and see if that helps. If not, contact your cellular carrier and see if they are having trouble in your area, or if there is a problem with your account that they can reset.

  • Why is my itunes trying to update my iphone and its not connected to the computer?

This would be more for the technical side of the house, but why would the system try to update my iPhone and its not connected to the computer? is there a bug in the system?

    Update or sync?
As of iOS 5 updates and sync can be done wirelessly, over Wi-Fi.

iTunes automatically syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer.
It couldn't be much easier than that as you don't actually have to do anything more than normal.
This lets you listen to voice memos on your computer and provides a backup if you delete them from iPhone.
Voice memos are synced to the Voice Memos playlist. iTunes creates the playlist if it doesn’t exist. When you sync voice memos to iTunes, they remain in the Voice Memos application until you delete them. If you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.
USB syncing is far faster than Bluetooth.
