Why is my iPhone 5S randomly vibrating?

Since getting my new iPhone 5S a few days ago, it has been continually randomly playing a Ding tone like I was getting an incoming e-mail message. I checked all of my apps and their sounds, and the general sounds, and it appeared that the only app that played a Ding tone is my Mail app for my iCloud.com account. I then changed that Ding tone to be None and now it randomly vibrates rather than playing the Ding tone, so I am pretty sure it is related to the Mail app. I have checked several times when I heard that tone to be sure I had not gotten a new e-mail message and that was not the case.
Is there somewhere I have not looked that would be causing this behavior?

Jonathan,
Does this only happen while you a plugged in? If so look at your battery icon, you will probably notice that it is grey. If you wiggle the chord you will see that it goes to green and the lightening bolt appears.  When the lightening bolt appears the tone it vibration happens.  The reason it happens randomly when you don't wiggle it is because it's getting that connection on its own.
My iPhone 5s just started doing this today.  While the phone is unplugged from the USB cable. Attempt a reset on your phone by holding down the power button on the top and the home button on the front together for about 3-5 seconds, the phone should automatically power cycle.  In addition attempt to charge with a different chord.  If you have a case on your phone that has the flap to cover the charging port when it is unplugged, rove the case to make sure that flap isn't pressing on the charger.  Those are the steps that I am following right now. My battery icon is still grey do I continue to search for the next steps.  If I find more I will post it here.  I hope some of that helps.

  • Iphone 5 randomly vibrates with no notifications in iOS 7.1

My iPhone 5 randomly vibrates with no notifications and no sound ever since the 7.1 update. Has this happened to anyone else?

This happens to me too. Normally when it is off, a few minutes after it turns off it randomly vibrates. I have an iPhone 5 32GB Black.

  • IPhone 6 randomly vibrating with no notifications or emails

So my iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1 randomly vibrates about 10 times a day. The random vibrations have been increasing in the past couple weeks.
I've tried everything I could find online to make it stop doing this. I've checked notification settings and sound (vibrate) setting and made sure NONE of my email accounts are permitted to send vibration notifications.
There are no notifications, and it's not related to text messages or emails. It even vibrate when my mail inbox is empty
    Has anyone else encountered this?
How do I stop these terribly annoying and unnecessary vibrates?

    Hi ..
    Try a reset.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • Iphone 5 Random Vibrations

I got my new Iphone 5 a couple of weeks ago and have noticed ever since I started using it that it randomly vibrates for no reason at all.  It’s the same short vibration you get when you receive a new sms. I have checked every time it happens and theres no new sms, no new calls, no new emails and I have notifications turned off for everything apart from Phone, Messages, Reminders & Calendar. I have tried turning it off and on again, and Ive tried letting it drain down to 0% and recharge but its still happening, and over the last couple of days its happening more frequently.

  • Why does my iPhone 5c randomly close an app while I'm using it?

Once in a while my iphone will close an app that I'm using. Why? And how can I keep this from happening? I have all updates and plenty of battery...

Sounds as if it could be a bad charger. Try another charger/cable.

  • Why is my iPhone 3GS randomly restarting?

So I bought and iPhone 3GS and about twenty days into owning it, the phone would randomly start restarting itself over and over again.  It would only be on for a short period of time and would not let me make calls, recieve texts, or do onything during this time.  I tried recharging it and plugging it into my computer, but nothing worked.  I returned it for a new one...
BUT now it's doing the same thing and I've only had it for a week. What's causing this?

As far as my experience restoring does not help much because it will start rebooting again after few days or few weeks. As I have tried that.
If you have do not have data plan on that phone and you have turned it off in network setting then fix is simple.
    1. Go to settings
    2. network
    3. enable Data and 3g.
    4. try making calls and wait and see if it turn off or not.
    5. If this work you can turn off data but keep 3g on.
I am positive this should work.

  • IPhone 5 randomly vibrates in pulses

I only notice this when I am in bed but every 3 sec- 6min my iphone will vibrate in a quick succession of 1-4 buzzes it will then stop and then 3 sec- 6 min later it will do it again.

I think I figured it out, my power cable has 3 others cords plugged in and sometimes when it buzzes the battery icon changes from charging to blank and it only happens when it's charging. So I think it's because I don't have enought volts to run all 3 cables and it switches on and off.

  • Why does my iPhone 4s randomly disconnect with airplay?

I have tried using two different wireless routers but no luck. I have my Apple TV hardwired in to my router and when using an iPhone 4s on AirPlay it will randomly stall/disconnect. When this happens the airplay option usually goes away for a bit and then comes back. I have used it over a Motorola wifi with wireless g speeds, then I plugged it in to a wireless n Dlink network, and same issue. I've also tried more than one iPhone, relocated the modem so there is nothing but about 10 feet of air between the modem and the phone, and still have the issue. Interestingly enough, the iPad 2 does fine. Any ideas?

The multi task bar as you call it does not show apps that are running but rather shows recent apps that you have used.  These apps do not use bandwidth because they are not running. Check your notifications to see which apps might be sending information because they might be using data.  The native apps that came with the phone periodically use data and there is nothing that you can do about that

  • Why does the iphone volume randomly gets turned off/down.

Around 4-5 times a day I have noticed that the volume on my iPhone has been turned all the way down. Anyone have any suggestions what is doing it?

well i just did two test videos.
just like a while ago when I first encountered this issue.
take a video with the volume buttons up = upside down when played in VLC
take a video with the volume buttons down = normal.
such a shame when they released the feature to use the volume button as a shutter button.
this wouldn't be such a big deal if I could upload 1080p to YouTube from my phone. But NOOOO, but I have to first upload it to my computer, then upload it to YouTube, and thats where the problem comes to play.
so whatever. ill just have to remember to take videos with the volume buttons down.

  • Why does my Iphone 4 randomly resend old text messages?

My carrier is Verizon but from what I have read on the Internet it is apparently an Apple issue not a carrier issue. It is really embarrassing when people text me all confused because I sent them a random text message.

I'm having the same issue, I just changed offices and the service in here is typically not 3G, and 1-3 bars.  Sometimes iMessages drops out sometimes it is fine, sometimes an SMS won't go through and I have to manual resend it, but recently I have been getting texts from friends telling me that I am resending texts from days ago.
I'm not sure, but I think when I try to resend a failed message, somehow it is trying to resend all past failed messages or something.
    Anyone else having this issue?

  • Why does my iphone 5 randomly restart when i facetime?

    Hi there TokyoLee,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • 3G iPhone randomly vibrating

WHY does my 3G iPhone randomly vibrate when its clear there is no new text message, email, alert, etc? I've heard this might have something to do with switching or recognizing another network but can't find any discussions confirming it. If it is a network-related notification, can it be turned off? If Apple couldn't even tell us what its for then we obviously don't need the vibrate to alert (or annoy) us.
And no, the vibrate switch is not mistakenly getting turned on and off. This happens even when its not being held and just sitting on the table untouched. It also happens whether the phone is charging or not plugged in at all.

Try to set it up as new device without using the latest backup, in case it contains corrupt data.

  • Why would my iPhone work perfectly fine but when it gets to 48% it randomly shuts off?

Why would my iPhone randomly shut off at 48%? Then say its at 1%. The only way I can use it is if it ha more than 48% battery

This is usually the feature of faulty battery. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing. If there is Warranty or AppleCare this will be covered.

  • Randomly vibrating iPhone 4

Why does my phone randomly vibrate every few hours?
I'm not receiving a text, email, or any kind of notification, and it doesn't matter if my phone is plugged in to anything or not. It will just vibrate once, like if I had just recieved a notification but nothing new pops up. This will happen at basically any time of day and I have no idea why. It keeps making me think I have mail, but nothing actually happened. When I acutally do get mail/text/notification, it buzzes just like normal.

No. The vibrations happen at very random times (like 5:39 in the evening), and my phone only vibrates once whereas what reminders I do have set play a tune as well as vibrate. And they don't happen every day at the same time either.

  • 3GS iphone randomly vibrates?

I've had a 3GS  iphone for about a year and a half and just last month it has started to randomly vibrate. Whenever I switch it to silent mode I will set my phone down and the bell symbol will continue to pop up as if I'm switching it on and off of silent mode. Every time the symbol pops up it vibrates. Sometimes it will do it five or six times in a row when it's just laying on a table. Does anyone know how I can make it stop? I haven't had any problems with my phone until this.

Sounds like you might have a bad mute switch. It has probably worn out. Might have to go ahead and update or try to get an out of warranty replacement for the phone.
