Why is my iPhone 5s vibrating during calls

Whenever I am on my iPhone 5s, on a call or listening to VM, it starts vibrating off and on.  I've seen this question before, so I know it's an issue for the 5s, but the last thread I saw had the worst response ever by JudySings.... Something about check a different apple support community.

Jonathan,
Does this only happen while you a plugged in? If so look at your battery icon, you will probably notice that it is grey. If you wiggle the chord you will see that it goes to green and the lightening bolt appears.  When the lightening bolt appears the tone it vibration happens.  The reason it happens randomly when you don't wiggle it is because it's getting that connection on its own.
My iPhone 5s just started doing this today.  While the phone is unplugged from the USB cable. Attempt a reset on your phone by holding down the power button on the top and the home button on the front together for about 3-5 seconds, the phone should automatically power cycle.  In addition attempt to charge with a different chord.  If you have a case on your phone that has the flap to cover the charging port when it is unplugged, rove the case to make sure that flap isn't pressing on the charger.  Those are the steps that I am following right now. My battery icon is still grey do I continue to search for the next steps.  If I find more I will post it here.  I hope some of that helps.

  • IPhone 5s - Microphone During Calls

I received my new iPhone 5s today and have encountered an issue. When in the phone app, no one is able to hear me during calls. If I switch to speaker mode however, my voice will be picked up. I've also tested with Siri, and my voice is being picked up there without issue. There was also no issue with my voice being detected in Facetime. As far as I can tell this issue only exists during phone calls without the speaker on.
    - I've upgraded to the latest version of iOS hoping that might resolve it, but no luck.
    - Also, I've tried turning off the noise cancelation feature, but again with no luck.
Has anyone encountered this issue before? What steps would you recommend for resolving this?
    Thanks!

  • Why would wifes iPhone 5 start randome calls at 3:00 am?

Why would my wifes iPhone 5 start randome calls at 3:00 am? My wifes phone called my mother, me & one oher clients. When it called i hung it up went th go check on her & and the grandbaby in the other room. They were both out like a light. Looked at her phone and it was moving and selected another number and started to call it. I hung it up and turned it off. Funny thing is her phone was passcode protected.
    Any clues on this?

Make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.
If not, try restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

  • Iphone blank screen during call

I have developed a problem with my iphone over the last few weeks. When I make a phone call the screen blanks out as expected during the call however if I take the phone away from ear to end the call/use keypad etc the screen will not come back? Is anyone lse is experienceing this issue? is there a way to fix it?

Remove the case from your iphone and see if that resolves the issue.
Your case is likely blocking the sensor.

  • Why does my iPhone 4 vibrate like crazy once reached 90% while charging?

Ok, so my iPhone 4 is like a five months old maybe. I have been using an iPhone for over two years now. Last night when I was charging my phone it went crazy once it hit like 90% or 95%. So you know when you plug your phone up and it lights up and vibrates, right. Well today, when I got home from school it was at 46%, I plugged it up than it did the iOS 6.1 update. Once that was over my phone charged, when I reached 95% it vibrates. It'll do the same thing as it does when you first plug it in. My charger is all the way plugged into the wall and all the way plugged up to my phone. My phone case is not blocking it, because on my phone case, it is all open. Before the iOS 6.1 update it was doing this. I haven't dropped my phone, or spilt anything on it at all. I have not changed the screen color or anything. It is a plain black iPhone 4.

Hate to say it but everytime I've seen this it's due to water damage. Check the indicators

  • Why does my IPhone Keep Vibrating and Not Charging?

I am having trouble with my phone. The phone is almost a year old, but not quite. The charger is a bit worn, and I'm beginning to wonder if the charger is my problem. I have it on a wall charger by my bed so I can check the time if need be. Here's my issue: it vibrates. A lot. Randomly. And I can't sleep. I'm having problems getting it to stop. I don't know if the connection is weak in the cord, but sometimes it will stop charging, then start again and vibrate. And it'll do this over and over, often it's in really quick succession. I looked online and several people have the same thing. Also, a message/notification will pop up. It says something to the effect of: "Charging is not supported with this accessory." I'm starting to worry about it and wonder if it's killing my phone, because my phone isn't holding a charge. (It just went off about four or five times right now...) My lock button is broken, so I CANNOT TURN THE PHONE OFF. What should I do?
What's the issue, and how can I fix it? My sleep level is low and I need to know if I need to buy another charger. To sum things up, my questions are:
What's causing the vibrations and notifications?
Is this a hardware issue, or a problem with the cord connection?
How much does a new cord cost?
Thanks for looking, and please answer. I need to know whats going on ASAP.
    Thanks again,

    Hey Username411,
Thanks for the question and detailed information. I believe you are correct in the issue of constant vibration stems from the iPhone disconnecting and reconnecting while charging. See this article for more information:

Battery does not charge from the USB power adapter
    1. Verify that the outlet being used is working.
    2. Try another USB power adapter if available.
    3. If no other USB power adapter is available, try connecting to a high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode.
    4. Try another USB cable if available.
    5. Also refer to iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery.
As suggested, you'll want to try charging the iPhone with a different cable to completely isolate the issue. Borrow one from a friend or family member if possible, but if not you can purchase a new one from Apple directly or an authorized reseller. It is important to buy an Apple-branded charger, which leads us to your last question:
Apple 30-pin to USB Cable can be purchase from the Apple Online Store for $19 USD:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA591G/C/apple-30-pin-to-usb-cable?fnode=45
If you find that the issue does lie with your iPhone, check out your service options (as you may still be in warranty). You may want to review your options anyway due to that lock button issue:

  • Why people can't hear me during calls?

When I am calling someone I have to shout into my phone so the person can hear me.  If I am within the same house or short distance from someone they can hear me fine but once it is far away call they can hardly hear me.   I went to apple store and they ran a test on my phone and they said it worked fine.  I also want to the verizon store and reconnected it to the network.

Ereeamazing, you don't know that it is a network coverage. Or service provider issue, why would you even state that? Trying to further bloat your post count?
skycem, I had this same issue with a #Z30 model, and after much troubleshooting software it was determined to be a hardware issue.
I'd recommend a warranty replacement from your seller. I had to replace mine.

  • Iphone 5 hangs during call being dialed

    hello
i am iphone 5 user in India.
the problem that i am facing is that sometimes my iphone drops the call.
the detailed situation is like this when i dial someone's number, iphone says on its screen "Calling" ; but in reality the call never gets connected.
even after few minutes iphone is stuck on the same screen.
and then if you press call end button on it , iphone says "Call Ending..."
and then it is stuck on this Call Ending screen and never comes out.
i contacted the customer care of Apple India and they referred this issue as an iOS 7 bug. and told me to wait as a new update will fix this issue. and also advised me to visit the service centre.
i visited the service centre their too i was conveyed the same message.
then after this two or three updates came from apple and none of them fixed my issue.
so again contacted customer service and spoke to some senior manager.
he took a quick diagnostic test of my iphone and told me that out of 100% ; 3% calls were dropped due to network carrier and 2% calls were dropped by the device itself.
and the strange thing is that instead of focusing on calls dropped due to device he literally did not let me say anything as if he was in a argument with me and just wanted to win it that discussion, kept on saying sir we are sorry the problem is due to the network carrier so please contact them.
I must say he was one stubborn employee who did not wanted to resolve the issue.
    And till date my issue is not resolved;
I am using iPhone 5 on iOS 7.0.4

Just dial Write "*#31#".... it worked for me....

  • My iPhone keeps freezing during calls

Its been getting worse. Every call I am on, the phone goes silent & neither myself or the other person can hear anything at all, it does come back sometimes. Other times it shows call failed. My phone is now out of warranty too. Can you also give me a rough idea of a cost to get it looked at? Can I go to a genius bar & get a quote?

Apple doesn't repair or service iPhones - only replaces them with refurb units.  An out of warranty replacement for an iPhone 4 is $149 in the USA.

  • "Silent" Contact Still Vibrates During Calls in Vibrate Only Mode

We all have them.  Contacts you just don't want to hear from.  Ever!  Thankfully BlackBerry updated 10.1 allowed me to set each contact up with contact-specific phone, message & BBM ring tones, vibration, and LED settings.  So I immediately set several up as OFF, OFF, OFF.
Unfortunately, when you set the Z10 on "Vibrate Only" the phone still vibrates when these nuisances call.  This is true despite the warning that notifications set to deliver as sound or vibration are delivered as a vibration.  Since mine are set to OFF, then it should stay off.
If I'm doing something wrong, let me know.  If this is a bug, then please fix it.

    Yep.. that is a bug..
    Same issue with me also..

  • Why does my iPhone shut off during restore?

My iPhone 4 randomly shut off one night while it was charging. Now while the phone is unplugged, the screen is black. If I plug it into the computer and hold the lock button and home button for 10 seconds (DFU mode) I get to a screen with a USB cable and a blue itunes logo and I can see the device in itunes. In itunes there is an option that says "Restore iPhone...". After I click "Restore iPhone..." it begins to restore normally, but once itunes says "Preparing iPhone for Restore" my iPhone screen goes blank and the restore ends with a message that says "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2001)." I've looked all over the internet for solutions, but I can't find any. So if anyone knows what's going on with it, please let me know. Thanks.

Im having this same issue with various errors (1611, 21). Did you find a solution or does anyone else know how to resolve this? Thanks!

  • Vibration during a call

why does the iphone 4S vibrates during a call when I get a msm or any notification

But this does not resolve the problem.
It disable all vibration, this is not what we want.
We only want the phone NOT to vibrate when you are talking on the phone.
In other words, we want our phone to behave like a regular phone, when email, sms, notification, instant messages comes it, it does not vibrate right into my ear.

  • Iphone 4 beeps randomly during calls

Why is my iphone beeping randomly during phone calls (when I make the call). When someone calls me it doesn't beep.
Also I have been losing calls after all that beeping.

    4.      From Ringer and Alerts, adjust volume as desired.
    5.   From Change with Buttons, drag the switch left or right to enable / disable external volume buttons.
External volume buttons adjust volume of ringer and alerts.
    On
    External volume buttons enabled
    Off

    6.   From Vibrate, drag the switch left or right to enable / disable vibrate sound.

  • How do i get my iphone to vibrate only for calls on silent

How do I get my iPhone to vibrate for calls only while my phone is on silent mode? I miss calls while my iphone is in my pocket because it doesn't vibrate when I get a call. I don't want it to vibrate for all the other apps either. Thanks!

    Hi chrish.22,
As the settings for "Vibrate on Ring" and "Vibrate on Silent" are separate, you can set it to Vibrate for either Ring, Silent, or both.
    iPhone: Ringtones
    Setting iPhone to Vibrate
You can have iPhone vibrate when you receive a call. Separate controls let you sent iPhone to vibrate in ring mode, silent mode, or both.
    Set whether iPhone vibrates
From the Home screen choose Settings > Sounds. To set whether iPhone vibrates in silent mode, turn Vibrateunder Silent  on or off. To set whether iPhone vibrates in ring mode, turn Vibrate under Ring  on or off.
