Why is my iphone acting like my ipod?

I had all my music and things on my ipod and then i got an iphone. I plugged in my iphone and chose to restore it or whatever that option is, so it would download my things onto my iphone. now, my iphone deleted all my contacts and messages and calls and pictures and replaced it with ipod things too. how do i get it back?

The hard drive cannot be damaged any further by simply removing it and then putting it back in. If it was getting progressively worse, it may now be at a point where the data is not accessible in any normal way.
Since your iMac is still covered by warranty until December, you need to get it fixed. That is the first step. Whether you can recover your data or not, you need a working iMac. Ask the Apple Store to give back the broken hard drive so that you can send it to a data recovery shop, even if you do not intend to do so. If Apple says they need to retain the old drive (since it is being repair under warranty), take it to an Apple authorized repair shop (who can do the same work under warranty) that will let you keep the old drive.
After getting your iMac fixed and working normally, you can try to recover the data. You may be able to access it through a USB or FireWire external case. But if the drive is not at least visible in Disk Utility, I don't think other utilities such as Disk Warrior and TechTool Pro will help.

How do I make my old iphone work like an ipod touch without the sim card?

I upgraded to a 3G iPhone and love it. I want to be able to use my old iPhone like an iPod touch, but when I ran a sync it wouldn't let me do anything without a sim card and now it's useless and empty. Is there a way to bypass the activation and get it to sync to allow me to use the wireless functions and standard iPod functions? Thanks in advance for any help. I am new to these forums, so if this question has been asked and answered previously please just let me know.

There's ways to activate your phone to use it like an ipod, not available thru apple. It's really easy to do, if all you want to do is activate it without a SIM. Try googling for it.. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post a link or anything or if that's against the rules because it's not supported by apple... PM me if you want I guess and I can help or answer other questions.

30GB iPod acting like 4GB iPod

Hi! I have a black, 30GB fifth generation iPod that can hold 2500 songs. A few weeks ago I decided to do a little cleaning up becaue I realized that I don't listen or like a portion of the songs on my iPod, so I deleted all of them. As I was re-loading my iPod, I found that at 636 songs, it was over half full.
I did have an iPod nano that I gave to my dad, but I haven't had it connected to my computer for a long time. I also deleted all 636 songs, disconnected it, then re-connected my iPod to my computer, and started loading song onto it again. Like before, it was over half full at 606 songs.
Then I uninstalled iTunes, re-intalled it, and plugged in my iPod. It was still acting the same: like an iPod nano. I've called technical support and they said to check the support online if you don't want to pay a $40 phone charge.
Can anyone help me with my problem?

Those sound like good tips. Only thing is, I'm not very "technology savvy." So, how would I go about trying to restore my iPod?

Why is iMovie '11 acting like a project doesn't exist?

Alright, I am currently panicking because I've been working on an iMovie for several weeks and have invested soooo many hours into it for my sister's wedding... I am literally at the final stage of perfecting it and today I showed my mother the final product for final review and as I was opening imovie it just wasn't there.... there were the 2 other projects I had in imovie but not this one. No clue why. Nothing weird happened like the computer shutting down or iMovie quitting unexpectadely. I searched for the movie name in spotlight and it pops up as it should, saying the correct time that I last modified it earlier today, saying that it's about the same file size as it should be, nothing weird. Also, if I go into [folders] -> [movies] -> [iMovie Projects] it pops up as a thumbnail like the other iMovie project but nothing happens if I open it...
I've tried quitting and reopening iMovie, restarting the computer, and opening it a million times from wherever else I found it on the computer.
It's iMovie '11 on a MacBook a1342 running Mac OS X Version 10.7.5

Why is my iPhone hot like a frying pan?

I was charging my iPhone and quite suddenly it began to feel like I could scramble eggs on it. Why is it doing this?

This is just speculation on my part, but from many threads it has come up that the phone is constantly processing (thus getting hotter) and it is doing this as it got stuck with some check (eg: checking email). Now this is just my opinion but from the number of threads I have seen I noticed a lot of them when detailing what they had enabled, Yahoo, AOL, and GMAIL (non IMAP settings), were listed a lot as email accounts they were checking. Now I know there have been a lot of Yahoo Push issues and I just have to wonder, if you disable any of those email accounts (go ahead and leave on POP ones) does it continue to get hot?
After disabling them I would reboot (not just turn off and on).

A reset/reboot is:
Go to Home Screen
Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

Can I use my old iPhone 4S like an iPod touch?

Is it possible to restrict the Cellular network so that my iPhone 4s will effectively be an iPod? I am trying to give my old iPhone to my daughter for use as an iPod and do not what her to be able to use any cellular services.

I have been ignoring playing music on my iphone until now (ive been used to the good 'ol ipod, and was assuming I could do away with the ipod and just use my iphone).
But having synced my imac computer and the phone, I don't seem to be able to use playlists on the iphone's itunes app. Is this right?? Or am I missing something ..?

The playlists should sync form your computer to your phone. When you go into music app to play the music, you should see playlist as a button on the bottom of the screen. If it is not showing try looking under the more button.

Iphone acts like im touching the screen when im not

my phone wont unlock and i can only get it to slide about 1/4 of the way across the unlock bar and if i do get it to unlock it types in a random pass code and locks me out and if i manage to get past both of these it sometimes will open up apps and messages and it always types in the bottom row of the keyboard and tries to copy and paste random stuff. i recently had my screen replaced and im wondering if that has anything to do it but im also wondering if it might bw an iOS problem because ive read on here that some other peoples phones are acting weird and a few of my friends are..

If the screen was replaced by a " Phoneshop " rather than Apple then take it back they have screwwed up your iPhone and now the warranty is void and Apple will not ever provide service or help with that device

Why is my device acting like a partition that I can't reset?

My problem is regarding to a USB stick that I used dd to write gparted to. The live iso from gparted's website.
The problem though is that the ISO did not work and I had to do the partitions myself and then just zip the files to the corret place.
It succeeded, but my USB stick that I first wrote the ISO to is kind of not working anymore and I suspect it has to do with this:

So, I have been trying to make a USB Installer for my Hackintosh (unrelated to this topic though) as you can see on the second partition. It also has a boot. But then it also says the whole device is of the udf fileformat, has a label GParted-live and a UUID for the whole device. Whenever I use fdisk to repartition the partitions change but not this information on that particular row.
The normal GParted ISO has just one partition that basically has the same label and stuff but as far as I remember it was not mountable amd dmesg told me it could not find a udf anchor.
If I tried to mount just /dev/sdb though, it worked fine. So /dev/sdb1 did not work.
I could probably recreate the scenario but I would rather not as I am just asking why this is and if this is normal? And if so, how do I reset it properly? Because neither Windows or Linux has been able to actually do this yet. Only dd would do the trick but I don't want to write a new ISO to it just for that. I was hoping to learn where this problem lies instead. I guess there are things saved somewhere on the drive that is not changed when I make a new partition table with fdisk?
NOTE: The whole device itself is mountable right now. I just wrote the following without errors:
[~]sudo mount /dev/sdb /mnt/tmp
mount: /dev/sdb is write-protected, mounting read-only
[~]ls /mnt/tmp
EFI GParted-Live-Version GPL live syslinux utils
Note that I have not put anything on the new partitions, just made the file systems. I am not sure if these files are corrupted or not at this stage.

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.

Try using Firefox's Safe Mode for the next few sessions, as that will disable extensions.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Note: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox closes, a small dialog should appear: click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
Now, hopefully you will have better luck downloading the clean-up tools.
Also, when viewing the Uninstall a Program control panel, click the "Installed on" column heading to group items by install date. Hopefully that will help you spot the culprits more easily.

Why is my numpad acting like an arrow pad? (Aluminum Mac keyboard - wired)

I'm using an Intel iMac Core2 Duo and I've just attached a *brand new aluminum wired Mac keyboard* to it.
My problem is: the numpad at the rightside of the keyboard does not function as a numpad. Instead, +it's functioning as an arrow-pad+! When I tap "4", the cursor travels leftward. When I tap "6", the cursor travels rightward. When I tap "5", the it activates the cursor on screen. When I tap "9", my cursor travels diagonally rightward.
I simply can't get my numpad to function as a normal numpad! I've tried plugging in an older Mac keyboard (white keys and clear plastic), and the same issue arises. So I guess it must be an iMac issue?
I've tried searching through my system preferences for the mouse and keyboard and nothing seems to be amiss....
What do I do? It's really quite annoying, because I want a normal numpad!

Oh ... I figured it out already!
Instructions:
Press the Option key five times. (You must first turn on this shortcut in the Mouse pane of Universal Access preferences.)This turns on/off the numpad function so that it either activiates the mouse or just acts as a normal numpad.

Acts like it is making a call.

Does anyone have this weird thing happen with their iPhone. Sometimes when I access the phone area, the iphone acts like it is about to make a call then it ends the call immediately. Its so fast that I dont even get to see if it is selecting someone to call or not. You get to see it for a split second then you see the end button.

I have seen this happen a few times also. If memory serves me right, it tends to happen after I answer a call when the phone has been off. Then the phone turns off again after I end the call. Then if I wake up the phone and go to the phone section, that little blip appears.
