I purchased an unlocked iPhone4 last month. Everything was fine till yesterday. Where did you purchase it from? There are lots of iPhones sold as "unlocked" which are carrier locked phones that were hacked and are not officially unlocked. These phones are subject to re-locking to the original carrier, particularly when updated.

I am receiving a message that iPad could not activate cellular data network and you are not subscribed to a cellular data service. Have signed with carrier, entered sim card and carrier with service bars appearing on top left corner? Any ideas?

My husband has the exact same phone and I upgraded his IOS at the same time, but this problem is not happening to his phone (we are also on the same plan, so our service should be the same). Our settings appear to be identical and my phone is showing the 3G symbol at the top, so I can't understand why it won't access the network.
I've turned it on and off twice and have reset all settings with my iTunes account, but it still isn't working.
I'm not a complete idiot with this sort of stuff - I have tried all the obvious things. -
HBO Go on tablets, AppleTV and iPhone says not subscribed.
When I try to log onto HBO Go via AppleTV, my iPads or my iPhone, a notification comes up telling me that I am not subscribed, when I am in fact a subscriber to HBO. Any suggestions?

what does this mean?
It means you are either
a) not subscribed to a data plan
b) your account is provisioned incorrectly
c) you are using an unsupported carrier whose data network is not compatible with the iPhone
or
d) you are completely out of range of your carriers data network.
If:
a) sign up for a data plan
b) call your carrier
c) call your carrier and try to work it out with them
d) go someplace where you get data coverage. -
Iphone will not work beacuse apple mobile device service is not started
When i plug my iphone into my computer itunes opens and then i get a pop up message that says "This iphone can not be used because the apple mobile device service is not started"
Prior to this i have had no problems using my iphone with itunes.Right click My Computer.
Choose Manage.
Expand Services and Applications.
Click on Services.
Locate that service and ensure it is started and set to Automatic. -
I activated my phone through AT&T using the new SIM card and am on contract that includes 10GB of data. Data IS enabled on the phone and it says I have 4G. It doesn't say I have LTE, and any time I try to use the internet without WiFi, I get this message. In addition, I can't send iMessages unless I'm on WiFi, but they send through my e-mail rather than my phone number. I've reset the network settings, done factory restores and restarted the phone plenty of times, but still nothing. AT&T told me to wait til morning as activation is slow at times, but that proved to be worthless as well. I also never updated to 8.0.1 because Apple took it down before I started my phone up. Does anyone have any idea why I'm having this issue? Could my SIM card be faulty?

I am trying to connect to the Internet when I am not in a wifi spot and I cant get it on... Any ideas? All my settings are switched on and same as mums phone which works. I am on Vodafone payg with an iPhone 4S. Thanks!
Where did you get the phone ? If you are on payg are you sure the phone isn't locked to another carrier ?

I changed my DNS settins so they point to OpenDNS DNS servers
On a Mac go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES>NETWORK>ADVACED>DNS
change DNS by adding ( + )
208.67.222.222
then
208.67.220.220
click okay/apply after. then try the update. after the update, just delete the two open DNS server numbers. should revert back to your old one.
