Why is my ipod always so slow?

it is always slow loading things, going back to home screeen, opening internet using apps, slow with safari, appstore,  and itunes store.

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
Next try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why is my iPod touch getting slower and slower

Please can anyone tell me why my iTouch is getting slower and slower?
also why do we have to do so many updates?
Can I go back to the original software for my ipod touch?
sorry for so many questions but they are related

    - All I can say in this Apple forum is that downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.

  • Why is the iPod classic so slow?

I was playing with the iPod classic at the Apple store and it ran slow. The iPod touch runs fast. My old iPod video (5th gen) runs slow. Why doesn't the iPod classic run as fast as the iPod touch or not any faster than my old iPod video? I thought Apple cared about a fast easy user experience like on their iPhone. Don't people complain about Android phones running slow? The iPod classic is so sluggish it's annoying. Why do they want their iPod classics to run slower than an old Zune?

Well, it could just be that the processor in the Classic doesn't like the particular video you were using, although I did base my answer on your first post, which said I was playing with the iPod classic at the Apple store... . As far as I know, in-store demo videos are not included on purchased iPods. So your decision to purchase was presumably based on your tests of it in-store.
It's still a matter of "you makes your choice - you pays your money".
My choice was to stick with my 160GB Classic for it's capacity, but to buy an iPod Touch in addition, for it's other abilities (including widescreen for videos, compared to the Classic). I realise that's not an affordable option for many people. But it was my solution.
Maybe that's why Apple provide choices.

  • Why is my iPod transferring dreadfully slow...

No, I haven't ever used FireWire, aside from working with DV cameras, but as far as I can see, my iPod is only transferring at ~12 mB/s. However, the USB2.0 specification allows transfers up to 60 mB/s. So, how come my iPod isn't syncing at full USB 2.0 speeds? My computer is decently equipped, so...
And, out of curiosity, will there be an eSATA version anytime soon? =)

Why did you bring up Firewire? We are talking about USB2 right?
Anyway, the theoretical transfer rate of 480 Mb/s (60 MB/s) is just that, a nice theory that will almost never be reached and certainly not at any sustained time frame. You would be very lucky to even hit 300 megabits per second and then probably one for short peaks/burst. Sustained transfer speeds are likely to be much lower on average. My guess is you would be lucky to see average speeds of 100-150 Mbits/s (12.5 MB/s - 18.75MB/s) if you had a good system with a good match up of components connected via USB2.
So in other words, my opinion is your 12-ish megabytes per second sounds about average.
    Cheers,
    Patrick

  • Why is my ipod touch becoming slow and unresponsive?

My ipod touch is starting to freeze a lot and just not do anything... why?

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup

If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • Why is my iPod Touch so slow on Verizon midi 4620L?

I just got a Verizon mifi 4620L Jetpack hotspot thingy.
I connect my MacBook Pro to it and get 17mbps or so download speeds, 3mbps or so going up.
I connect my 3rd gen iPad to it and get about the same.
But when I connect my 5th gen iPod Touch to it I rarely get download speed peaks higher than 2mbps and most of the time the avg comes out to be less than 1mbps according to the Speedtest.net app on the iOS devices.
So, the iPad and MacBook Pro both work properly on the Verizon mifi hotspot and the iPod Touch doesn't. On all other networks I've tried the iPod Touch can support download speeds up to about 25mbps maybe even more. All these devices currently perform the same at home on the Comcast fed wifi network: very fast download speeds on them all with modest upload speeds. So I know there's nothing wrong with the iPod's wifi radios. There's just something quirky going on in how the iPod Touch and the Verizon mifi thing talk to one another because another thing that's strange: the iPod will download around 1mbps but then go up at about 10-12mbps. The exact opposite of what I would like except for those rare times I would actally like to send out a lot of photos quickly.
Does anyone know what might cause this?
Also, when I look at the connected devices as an admin the iPad's device name is recognized and listed but the iPod Touch remains named Unknown. Does this matter?
I'm frustrated because the iPod Touch is what I would most like to use with the mifi!
Any body come across this situation?

Does the iPod connect to other networks OK?

I have had my main iPod for a few years now, and every year it seems to have a problem! The first one just completely went wrong, the second one scroll wheel gave up the ghost, now I have a combination of both the problems! It some how wont charge(even though my iPod mini will still charge with the same charger) it also shows the sick iPod symbol then changes to the battery charging symbol then back to the apple logo.(when it shows the battery charging symbol, it is still, no actual movement on the battery symbol shown on screen.

  • Why does my ipod run slow

    Hello people
    I was wondering
Why does my ipod 4g run slow if it has enough space available?

  • Why is my iPod so slow?

I have a little bit over 17g left yet my iPod is still slow. Why?
Sometimes it's so laggy when I'm on the Google Chrome or Twitter app, especially Facebook app. I even deleted all of my games and I ended up with one game, which sometimes so lag and crash down.
It doesn't make sense for me, like I have so many space left in my iPod and my connection with wi-fi is good and I always turn off all the apps that I don't use and sometimes turn off my iPod during my sleep. Still why is it still slow? Any suggestions to why is it slow and how to fix this problem?
I do have an iPod touch 4th generation iOS 6.1.3 and was bought a year and a month ago.

  • Why is my ipod touch 4G unusually slow?

So I have a 4th generation ipod touch. I updated it to IOS 5 from IOS 4.3.5 a couple months ago. It's been really, really, slow and laggy to the point where it's something I despise! I upgraded from 4.3.5 because my ipod was pretty slow and applications always crashed; I thought IOS 5 would fix all that, but, I was wrong!    With IOS 5 my ipod's battery life ***** (I charge it to 100% and then 15 minutes later it tells me there is only 20% left), it's super laggy (closing out of apps is painful and I have lots of problems with the lock screen. The screen freezes all the time), Safari is slow as a snail and so is other web-based applications, and apps crash constantly. Simply swiping from screen to screen is painful!   Then I upgraded to IOS 5.1 hoping it would fix things but...no...
I've tried a clean restore to factory settings, which didn't help at all. I make sure I close the apps I'm not using. I do not have so many apps or music. My wifi/internet connection is quite good. I don't know what is going on!
My ipod is second hand from my cousin and it WAS jailbroken, but not anymore. My warranty is also up. I've noticed other people have been experiencing the same issues but the thing is, my friend also has a 32GB 4th gen ipod touch on IOS 5.1 that runs smoothly and is very snappy and responsive, unlike mine. She has WAY more apps, photos, and music than I. She's had her ipod for longer than I have.
So does anyone know what is going on? Any other ideas? Thanks a lot!

Maybe the solution is that you iPod is slow is because you are not closing your apps after you use them. To do this you must:
    1. Press the Home Button to get out of that app
    2. You will return to the Home Screen
    3. Click the Home Button twice, (do this quite fast, But not TOO fast)
    4. A bar with all your apps that you have come out of will be on the bottom of the screen
    5. Hold down one of those apps
    6. They will start to "jiggle"
    7. A little red circle will be beside all of the "jiggling" apps
    8. Press that little red circle and those apps will close (NOTE: This is NOT deleting your apps)
    9. Now you apps are closed NOT deleted
    10. Your iPod will now speed up in: Browsing, downloading, syncing and much more
    11. (Bonus) - To DELETE an application do the same thing ( But not clicking the Home Button twice) and all of your apps which you downloaded will "jiggle" and there will be an black circle with an X in it, click that X to DELETE that app and a dialog will pop up and say: "Do you really want to delete this app?" If you want to: Click yes.
And that is how to speed up your iPod
Bonus) - is how to DELETE an App
    Thank You,
    Apple 5

  • Why is my iPod so slow since ios5

Why is my iPod so slow after I updated to ios5.

first turn off iCloud, as much as we all love it, it makes out devices really slow and it tends to make the home screen freeze after unlocking at times. next you want to limit the things in both spotlight, and the apps in your notification center. turning off location services is also a good way to cut down on memory usage and so is removing the weather and stock widget for the notification center.
these things will speed up your device, but the most important to remove out of all of these is iCloud, the others are just more suggestions(:
also remove unwanted apps running in the background by double tapping the button, holding on an app until it goes into toggle mode, and click the red minus button to stop it from taking up memory in the background...
this will 100% speed up your device and get rid of unwanted bugs/glitches(:
