Why is my ipod running diagnostics/sccessorize test when i didn't tell it

why is my ipod running diagonistics and now stuck on accessorize test screen when i didn't ask for it to run it and how short of resetting and having to start over to get it to stop ? thank you, melissa

Resetting the iPod won't cause you to lose any data.
To reset, press and hold the MENU and SELECT (center) buttons until you see the Apple logo. This is how you exit diagnostics mode.
Cheers!

  • Why would my iPod show a full battery when connected to power but when not connected it will no longer turn on

Why would my iPod show a full battery when connected to power but when not connected it will no longer turn on

    For both
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why does my ipod run slow

    Hello people
    I was wondering
Why does my ipod 4g run slow if it has enough space available?

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.

  • Why is my iPod running slow, uses nearly 600MB of space that I'm not using, and have short battery life?

I have owned an iPod touch for about a month now and I having some problems with it. On occasion, my iPod is running very slowly, even when I keep my multitasking bar empty, the native apps such as the App Store, Music, Videos, etc. lag a lot whenever i try to access content. This was not the case for me when I was running iOS 4, in which my iPod ran extremely fast and had great battery life. I most of the time keep my wireless turned off (to be specific, i turn on airplane mode approx 3/4 of the time) along with my brightness turned all the way down. Any suggestions?
I also have another concern with my storage space. I have an 8GB 4th Generation, and whenever I plug it into iTunes, I notice nearly 700MB of space that I am not using on my iPod, I have gone through all of the data and calculated that the 700MB of space that iTunes classifies as "other", i am not using this storage space. Is there anything that I can do about this or do I have to erase everything and restore to get rid of this?
Thank you for taking the time to read my question, and if you can, please answer.
    Thanks.

    - iOS 5 does slow the iPOd.  Periodically powering off and then back on helps since it free up memory that apps do ot release. The iPod only has 256 MB of memeor and low memory slows the iPod.
    - iOS 5 also increases battery drain. I leave mine in airplane mode when not using wifi or BT. Also see:
iPod: How to extend battery life
    - An other of about 1/2 GB is normal and expected.  to get it down you need to restore your iPod.  Sometimes restoring from backup works but sometimes a restore to factory defaults/new iPod is required.

  • Can I run the hardware test when I have four different accounts on my mac 10.8.4, can I run the hardware test when I have four different accounts on my mac 10.8.4

Hi  Noticed that the top of my mac is nearly too hot to touch.  Did a search online and found out about the hardware test.  Looked up online user manual for my mac (Processor  3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 10.8.4) and noted how to perform the test.  However, when I keep my finger on the D button through start up it just brings me right to the screen where I have to sign in to my desktop account (there are four accounts on the desktop as it is a family mac).  Am I doing something wrong.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, you should know that it's normal that your iMac is hot at the top. Here are the fans, so it's normal that it's hotter than other parts. Before going further, download Temperature Monitor and tell us which temperatures it indicates > http://www.bresink.com/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html
If it gives dangerous temperatures, then you should run Apple Hardware Test. Looking at the processor the Mac has got, your Mac came with DVDs. Apple Hardware Test is in Mac OS X Install Disc, so insert it and hold the D key while your Mac is starting to start in Apple Hardware Test

  • HT201257 How can I run the hardware test when my USB ports and bluetooth doesn't work?

The USB ports and the Bluetooth suddenly will not work on my Mac Mini (2008). There is very little I can do except using Remote Desktop. To run the Hardware Test, the D key has to be pressed during startup. I got no key to press. Is there any other way to do this?

Sorry, focused on bluetooth issue. If USB and bluetooth are knackered, try an SMC reset:
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

Why can't my iPod connect to wifi network when iPad and Macbook both can? Connected in the past, but not for the past week.

    - Reset the iPOd. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Power off andthen back on the router
    - Power off and then back on the router.

  • TS3694 Why does my ipod keeps powering off, and when I turned if on, I have to press down the power button and the screen button at the same time ???

Why does my ipod keeps powering off, when I have to turn it on ... I have to press on the power button and the screen button at the same time ??? over and over again. I just got this in December 2011 as a gift.

I am having similar 'freezing' problems with many programs (Mail, Safari, iTunes, etc.). I have done a clean install of Lion instead of an upgrade when it came out. Perhaps something went wrong with my install? I'm thinking about wiping and reinstalling.

  • Why does my iPod Touch stop recording videos when it says low battery

OK I would record a long video, about 20 minutes to be approximate. In the middle of my recording, my iPod tells me my battery is low - I have 20% of battery left. But when the message shows up, it stops recording my video and shows a closed lens on the camera!!!
Then I have to force close the app then restart it. Then I have to make a second video. Is there anyway to tell the iPod Touch low battery warning to shut the f**k up and stop interrupting and stopping my recordings? It is VERY annoying. Please reply soon.

Not that I know of. The 20% warning is like the low fuel light on your car's gas tank, it doesn't know when you'll run out of gas only that it's soon. The reason it stops what your doing is to protect the battery. Completely discharging the battery is very bad for the battery and shortens the life of the battery. Hope this helps, Good luck.

  • Why are my processors running at 80 - 90% when con...

A question that concerns me tonight. I am playing a video file, the file is on my laptop hard drive. The laptop is a quad core so has ample processing power to deliver the file on Video Player at full size. There is also a good chunk of RAM, plenty for playing vid.
I start to play it and after a minute the audio is out of sequence, the picture is stalling and the fan sounds like it is trying to launch a space probe.
I have a look at my visual diagnostics and get the live graph reading on the processors and they aren't peaking, they are flat lining at 100%.
I look at this and think, "This is **bleep**ed up."
I unplug the internet cable and after 15 seconds the processors are working at 15% or lower with no other activity. I then play the video full screen for 48 minutes with no fan interjection.
When I close the video file and about to switch off I think, hold on! With nothing running but basic process I plug the cable back in and within moments my processors are at 100% and flat lining. I watch my processor monitor and they are fluctuating between 80% and 100% for a good five minutes. I then pull the plug and my laptop processors return after about 15 seconds to 15% or below.
    My question is obvious. WTF.

You could also run "Task manager" to see what is using the resources. Go to the processes tab and check what is running under CPU
Open Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar, and then clicking Start Task Manager.

  • Battery - Does the iPod run off the battery when coming out of 'deep sleep'

    Hi,
I was listening to my ipod yesterday and it ran completely out of battery. No worries - I thought I would just charge it up. I am travelling right now and the only way of charging it is by docking it in some speakers. I did so and it started up as normal, showing the apple logo. Then the screen went brighter, as normal, then it just cuts out. I thought maybe its just the battery, so I left it for a couple of hours and tried again - same thing happened.
When it is coming out of the 'deep sleep' is it running of the power of the battery - even when it is on charge? It appears like it needs to turn itself on - and THEN charge. If this is correct it is a pretty poor design fault. Can any one help me with this?
Could it be that its not getting enough power through the speakers?
    Thanks,
    Phil

  • Why is my iPod Touch's memory 0 when i only have 249 mb of photos and camera and 23l mb of Music? Please help this is a big issue! what do i do? ps i dont want to loose 2 of my apps!!

I have a 8GB Ipod Touch and i know its not a lot, but in the beginning it was working fine. For some time now it wont let me excede even 1GB of memory. i have no games, no apps, not many contacts, hardly anything! only 249 mb of photos and camera and 23l mb of Music. i have backed it up and restarted it and everything and i am getting annoyed! please help me!! i cant live without my ipod!!! This is urgent!
P.S: i have 2 apps on my ipod that i would not like to loose! IF theres anyway to save them in the process of fixing my ipod that will be great!
    Thank you!

An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • Why does my ipod touch 4g do this when i plug my headphones in? (not your usual headphone question)

Can anybody help me out? I bough my Ipod Touch on December 26th at about 11 am. I took it home registered it all all of that stuff, downloaded some apps and put music onto it. I then proceeded to use my headphones with my ipod and everything worked fine. Then at about 9:30 pm i went to listen to my music once again and when i plugged in my headphones the weirdest thing happens. The screen changes to the black screen with the apple logo on it (like the one after you restart your ipod) but it also has a little (i would call it) buffering symbol (the circle made up of 12 individual lines) located at the bottom of the apple (Apple logo). That screen stays up for 5 seconds and then switches to my lock screen which stays up for only 1 second and then the cycle begins again. It never ends! I don't understand!!! I didn't even have it up and operating for 12 hours!! I am looking to see if anybody has any ideas about what to try. I have tried doing all of the below:
    - switching off the password lock
    -switching the lock to 'never'
    -restarting my ipod
-turning it off and then plugging in my headphones then turing the ipod back on
-started playing a song over the speaker and then plugged in the headphones
    -turned off all applicaitons etc.
    11
*** The headphones still work I can hear an alert sound through them as the screens change, and i have tried a multitued of different headphones with my ipod***
i am in the middle of downloading the latest version of itunes/software for my ipod because i am also trying to get imessages-- i was hoping that that would work to get it on there- and now i am hoping it works for my headphone problem (do you think it will) .
*** as soon as i unplug my headphones the ipod goes back to the lock screen, i unlock it, and it works normally (even if i dont have the lock screen/password turned on)
please please please please help This is my first ipod touch and i have no idea how to solve this problem
**ps if you can tell me how to get imessages that would be awesome too

Not an expert, but plug it into your computer.  If it comes up hit sync.  Unplug it and see if it works, if not, plug in again and hit reset (I don't have the screen in front of me, but I know you get a main screen on iTunes you get an opption to upgrade or reset.)  When you reset it's kind of like nuking and paving.  It will erase your internal memory completely and reinstall everything on it.  Make sure you have updated your computer using software update first.  It takes a while, but that should fix it.

  • Why does my ipod touch stop playing songs when i click to play, it plays for a few seconds sometimes longer and then goes onto the next song. Help!

Please help,my ipod touch stops playing songs sometimes a few seconds in and then other times halfway. It cant be the song because different songs do it each time. Ive tried to restore it and it makes no difference :(
Please help as this problem gets very annoying. Thanks!

Did you restore to factory defaults/new iPod and sync stuff to your iPod?  If you restore from backup there may be some corruption that is now in the backup.
