Why is my Ipod Touch no longer recognised by my computer. I have Vista

Why is my Ipod touch no longer recognised by my computer? please.

See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar.  Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears.

  • Why is my iPod Touch asking for a password I don't have?

My iPod Touch has been working fine for two years and I was using it last night. This morning, when I turned on my iPod Touch, it asked for a password. It didn't show the regular 10-digit number pad, it came up with a pad that showed the letters and numbers, the one you would find when you search for stuff on an iPod Touch.
My password setting is off and hasn't been tinkered with for over a year. No one but me had used the iPod Touch for the past few days. I have tried all the passwords I could think of and now I'm disabled from my iPod Touch, haha... ughh.
How can I get this fixed without taking a trip to the Apple store or restoring it?

Sometimes the iDevices just go haywire and ask for a password out of nowhere. Or, could have somebody got hold of your iPod and set it up and entered a password?

  • Why does my ipod touch no longer find my correct location?

Up until a couple of months ago, no problem - when at home my touch found my exact location on Long Island. But for the last two months, it thinks I'm in Maryland. My wife has an ipad. Using the same wifi network it finds the correct location. I've tried resetting the touch, but it keeps telling me I'm in Maryland, not New York. Any ideas as to why this happened, or how I can correct it?

If you've tried resetting it and that hasn't helped, then you may have to submit your wifi to Skyhook database. The only other thing is if you've recently moved I would [read this|http://www.technipages.com/ipod-touch-how-to-change-current-location.html] , otherwise you can go [here to submit your wifi to the Skyhook database|http://www.skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/submit_ap.php].
    Hope that helps.

  • Why does my iPod Touch no longer pick up mail?

I have a 2nd gen iPod Touch, with all the latest system updates. Suddenly Mail no longer picks up any new mail from the server. I haven’t touched anything, all the POP and SMTP (which is irrelevant for pick-up anyways) server names are identical to the ones on the Mac.
My iPod Touch goes through the motions of picking up, little cog wheel spinning, displaying the date and time of the update, but no new messages nor any error messages.
    Just quietly fading away...
    Thanks,
    Klaus

I appear to have fixed the problem. I deleted all accounts from the iPod Touch, and let the syncing rebuild the accounts from my MacBook.
    Thanks,
    Klaus

  • Why is my Ipod touch no longer syncing?

Just the other day, My Ipod Touch (4th Gen) was working- and syncing perfectly.
However, last night, the syncing seems to be not functioning after it gets to step 2 of 5 in the sync process. A message reads
that the disk cannot be found, or something along those lines.
I am using a Windows 7 computer and programming if this is of any assistance.

  • My iPod touch is not recognised by the computer or iTunes

I have recently whiped my laptop and did a clean install of Windows 7. Now the iPod and the computer both beep when I connectn it to the computer BUT it does not appear as a drive i  the computer, it is not recognised in iTunes and it does not show to be that it is charging.
I have uninstalled iTunes and all the associsted softwar (in the order designated) and reinstalled iTunes, powered down and restarted both deviceses, and stopped and restarted the Apple Mibile Device software. I even tried to "restore" the iPod and did the whipe on it (bad choise) now it displays the cord and plug and is asking to be connected to iTunes. but the laptop and iPod are not talking past the initial beeps.
Not sure where to go from here.

    Hi,
Does anyone have a fix for my ipod which is not recognised by any computer. Have tried the software reset, putting into disk mode, but no computer will see it as a device. The ipod will however charge by the usb.
I have tried another 5th Gen on the same computer which is recognised everytime.

    I need helpppppp!!
    Thanks

You've pretty much exhausted everything so it is time to get it serviced. Is it in warranty?

  • Ipod Touch is not recognised by Windows XP and does not appear in Itunes

I received an Ipod touch recently and set up an Itunes account and quite happily used Itunes and the Ipod touch for about six weeks without any problems. I installed all of the required software updates for the Ipod but about 3 weeks ago began to have problems.
    1) When connecting the Ipod to the computer through the same USB port as usual, I received a message saying that 'charging is not supported by this accessory'
    2) The Ipod is no longer recognised by Itunes
    3) When connecting via the USB port, message received stating that 'device is not recognised' and it shows up as an unknown device in device manager. When connected it appears to set up empty disk drives under the E, F, G and H drives with an associated system volume also being set up.
I have re-installed Itunes, Apple Mobile and Bonjour on several occassions, I have cleaned the computers registry, tried the selective start up option via MSCONFIG and ried to re-install the drivers all to no avail.I have also tried a system restore back to before this all began.
I know the USB ports are working, I have checked them, there is obviously a conflict somewhere that is stopping Apple software working on my computer but as I haven't made any software changes or hardware changes since before this sorry saga began I am running out of ideas.
Any assistance / ideas would be gratefully received

I don't know what I did, but now it works!!! :O

  • My Ipod Touch is not recognised in itunes or my computer but still charges, Please help

My Ipod Touch is not recognised in itunes or my computer but still charges when connected via USB Please help

Did plugging it into another USB port do any good? Make sure it is a USB port on the back of your PC and not via a USB hub or one on the front as they sometimes do not output enough power for the iPod to properly communicate with your PC.
Do you have another 30 pin dock connector cable around you use to try and rule out a faulty cable?
Did you try a hard reset of the device with it still connected to your PC?  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
With the article above were you able to verify that the Apple Mobile Device Service was installing and running on your system?
Lastly, try plugging it into a different PC to see if it is recognized there.  It can help narrow down whether it is an issue with the iPod or with your PC.

  • Ipod Touch Takes Longer than my computer to start up.

Why does the iPod touch 4g take about 37 secconds to start up? My WIndows 7 pc takes 34 seconds to start up. I have iOS 4.3 and have not jailbroken my iPod.

Shouldn't take that long. You never really have to turn off your iPod Touch though, to be honest. Locking it is better for the battery and ensures that it is always ready for when you want it. The only advantage to turning it off is wiping the memory (RAM) clear, but you can do that manually by double tapping the Home Button, holding down on one of the apps found in the multitasking pane, and pressing the X.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
