Why is my iTouch continuing to skip through songs

My iTouch will not play songs, when I press "shuffle" it continues to skip through all my songs but doesnt pause when I press "pause".  If I select a song to play it doesn't play it and just brings me back to the song selection.  I don't understand why it is doing this, because the Pandora Internet Radio app on my iTouch plays songs just fine.

  • 60gb ipod photo keeps freezing and skipping through songs

I've had my 60gb ipod photo for almost a year and it keeps freezing and skipping through songs and sometimes it won't respond to a reset. I have to let the battery run down in order to use it again. I have restored it several times and it seems to keep happenning at least once a week.I have the latest software for it. Is there any thing else I can do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync what you  want
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Crunching noise and skipping through songs rapidly

My Mini started by making this crunching noise from the drive spinning and then the display showed it skipping through songs rapidly. I reset it twice and now when I turn it on it says "go to www.apple.com/support/ipod. I have looked everywhere on this site and can not find anything that addresses this issue. Was wondering if anyone has had this problem and if so did you send it in and what was the repair cost?

You've got a one year warranty from Apple. You don't mention how long you've had it . . . but if it's within the year, you shouldn't be charged. If there's any charge, it will be just for shipping.
The 'crunching' noise coming from the drive spinning is a BAD sign, and I feel certain your iPod needs Apple's assistance.
I think the address it's sending you to is so you can get a return slip to send it back.
    Good luck!

  • ITunes Radio Automatically Skips through Songs

When listening to iTunes Radio through my AppleTV 3, iPhone 6, iPad 3, and iMac 2013 iTunes Radio will just start skipping through songs. The current song plays through to the end, but then starts scanning through 20-30+ songs before playing the same song that just played. This happens on every station I have created, and also on the suggested featured stations.
This just started yesterday after updating to iOS 8.2. I logged out of iTunes on all devices and signed back in, but the problem persisted. I also rebooted all devices with still no luck. My Husband is also having the same issue on his iPhone 5 and iPad 3 under a different iTunes account.
I happened to be out of Wifi range on my iPhone and tried iTunes Radio and surprisingly the skipping stopped. The minute I got back into Wifi range the skipping would start up again after the current song ends. So it seems like it has something to do with my Wifi which are run off of an AirPort Time Capsule and Extreme (all up to date). I rebooted my modem and AirPort’s thinking there was some weird config issue, but the skipping was still happening. I have not changed anything with my internet provider and have more than enough bandwidth.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix or further troubleshoot?

Hmmm, Cox must be blocking something. I'll try to call them when I get home, but I don't have high hopes dealing with them.
I also found another thread talking about the same issue.
"I already contacted apple about this and the persons that helped me told me they took the matter up to the engineering department.  So now I'm just waiting on a reply back.  Hopefully, they can get this fixed up."

  • Skipping through songs...why and how to fix it?

Starting last night, whenever I select a song to play on my iPod mini (the original version if that matters) it skips through all the songs to the end of the playlist and then brings me back to the main menu screen.
    What's going on here?

I had the same problem for about 2 weeks and just fixed it tonight! YEAH!! I followed the 5R's and the first 4 did nothing. So, I wasn't very hopeful for the 5th, but I made a back up of my library just in case, downloaded the latest version of iTunes and RESTORED my iPod back to the factory settings and it works beautifully now. No skipping on any songs at all. And, mine didn't matter if they my songs or iTunes songs, it did it to any song that it didn't like. Good luck!

  • Itunes skip through songs when playing or importing CDs

I have been using itunes for a while without problems. I recently upgraded to v7.1. When I now try to play or import CDs, the program quickly skips through the songs, but does not actually play or import anything. If I try to play the CD through another program, it works just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be going wrong? Thanks!

I agree with Dave - reinstall or update your drivers. If you need some directions on that, start here

  • IPhone/iTunes skipping through songs quickly

The iTunes app on my iPhone 5 is having serious issues playing a specific artist. When I pull them up to play, select songs individually or shuffle, it skips through them very quickly (40 something songs in about 6 seconds) and doesn't play any of them. It happens to be only this one particular group I am trying to listen to.
Any one else have this problem or know how to resolve it? Everything is on iCloud and can't figure out how to try and replace the songs.

  • Rapidly Skipping Through Songs

It doesn't matter if it is in shuffle, playlist or album mode, instead of playing a song, my 5G rapidly skips through every song with out playing.
I have already performed a factory reset. The problem is still there.
    Any ideas?

butterfly15... i have a sugestion... but it may void your warrenty (if you still have one)... i did this to my old 20G (4th gen... i think) and it worked wonders...
take a plastic toothpick (or pretty much anything that is not metal, but is firm) and take the front off your ipod (in other words... your going to open it up) take out the harddrive and shake it a little... carfully place it back in, and pray...
for a more detailed description go to http://www.crunchgear.com/2007/03/05/crunchgear-how-to-fix-an-ipod-that-wont-boo t/
keep in mind that this guide IS for when the ipod wont boot... but my old ipod did the exact thing your describing before it became unable to boot...
if you dont feel comfortable doing that, you can also just give the whole ipod a good shake (without opening it) for a quick temporary fix...
unfortunatly, either way, it does seem that your ipod is on it's last legs...

  • Skipping through songs

Hi. I have certain songs that my ipod just skips right through. My friend is having a similar problem with a different player. It plays OK on his computer, but on my ipod and his player it skips through. What are some possible problems? Would the fact they are WAVs be a problem?

Same thing here I have songs that play fine on my computer and when I put them on the I-POD it wont play them or plays them for like 3 seconds goes to the next and freezes a little then adventually plays a song it wants to play... I think this discussion should be a sticky because im sure this happens to alot of people. All my software, firmware for the i-pod is up to date. I have to clue anyone???

  • Why is iTunes skipping through songs during computer playback?

Over the past couple months, after adding new files to iTunes, when I'm listening to them on my computer, it will sometimes arbitrarily skip the next song. Each song skips at a different place, but it's always the same places every time I replay the tracks. When I listen to them in Windows Media Player, they play all the way through. I know it's not an issue of file corruption. What can I do about this?

    Hi LD,
Take a look at the article below and try playing the tracks in Safe Mode. If you no longer hear the playback issue, you may be able to resolve the issue by removing outdated 3rd-party plug-ins as suggested below.
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3430
There are several ways an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer
Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface
    Slow performance
iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly
You see this alert while syncing: "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."
If you see the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any third-party plug-ins by opening iTunes in Safe Mode:
    OS X: Hold down Option-Command.
Windows: Hold down Shift-Control while opening iTunes.
You should see this message before iTunes starts up: "iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."Note: This is different than Safe Boot or Safe Mode for Mac OS X. You may need to test both at the same time to isolate all third-party interference.Click Continue and see if any issues persist. If your issues are resolved with iTunes running in Safe Mode, check the following:
Consult the vendor of any plug-ins you installed to see if they're compatible with your version of iTunes and check for any updates that may be available.
Close iTunes and move third-party add-ons to the Desktop to troubleshoot the behavior. iTunes stores these plug-ins and scripts in these locations:
    Mac: /Users/username/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
    /Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/

  • ITunes skipping through songs

I have had my ipad 2 for quiet sometime and never had any faults with it.  Recently I decided to buy an imac, when syncing the 2 together it forced my ipad 2 to crash.  I successfully repaired it and have continued to use as normal. However the music app, linked to iTunes is no longer working correctly.  Every time I click on the button, my music library opens but when I press play along the top it scrolls through all the songs at lightening speed and will not play them.  I have shuffling them, choosing an artist etc but still no music. Can anyone help as I am getting so frustrated. Thanks in advance

  • I have an older nano (4th gen?) and it will not shut off and when you try to skip through songs it skips itself back.  Buttons seem to be pushing themselves. I've tried doing a hard reset and it did not work.

My older nano is not working.  I have to keep it plugged in all the time because it does not shut off.  The buttons only work sometimes and then they scroll and skip forward and backward by themselves.  I have checked updates and I have also reset it back to factory and it is not working.

  • New Nano skipping through songs

Today is the first day I've listened to my brand new Nano 8GB. It was fine at first, then a song (track 3) that I had just listened to an hour before wouldn't play - the screen would freeze for a second and would skip to track 7, then 15, then 17 on its own. Same exact thing every time I tried to listen to track 3. I reset the iPod and the problem was gone, but I understand this may be a common problem? I'm using Windows 2000 and only have tracks from CD, not from iTunes. Should I take it back to the Apple store?

  • TS3217 When I try to skip one song on my ipone, it skips through several. The songs that are skipped can be played on the same iphone if I go into my itunes and select that song. So this tells me that the song can be played, therefore, it is not the song.

When I try to skip through a song on my iPhone, it skips through several songs. The songs that are skipped can be played on the same iphone (when I go into to itunes library on my phone), so I know that it's not the song. I have the latest softeware downloaded on both my iphone and itunes. In fact, this only recently started occuring when I reconnected my iphone to my laptop about a month ago to install the new updates on itunes.
