Go to:
Settings (gear icon)
Scroll to General (gear icon) (Third option box from top)
Scroll all the way down > Select Third option from bottom (international)
Select first option (language)
Select English
Select Done -

Check your region settings
Settings > General > International > region format -

Please check in Settings: General: Keyboard: International Keyboards how many there are and which.
If there is more than one you can either delete the ones that you don't use, or if you want to type on different ones at different times you can change between them using the key with a world that appears when you are using the keyboard. -

Judith HameryOnly Apple Account Security could help at this point. You can try calling Apple Support in Canada - you'll have to find one of the several ways, such as Skype, to call an 800 number from outside of the relevant country - and ask for Account Security and see if they can help. Or you can find a friend who speaks Chinese and ask them to help you talk to Apple Support in China. There are really no other options that I know of.
Note, by the way, that these are user-to-user support forums. You aren't speaking with Apple when you post here.

just took my iPod classic 160GB out of box, turned it on and accidentially hit a button changing the language from english to something else (chinese or japanese). All I see now is symbols. How do I turn it back to english without knowing what any of these symbols mean. I started clicking buttons and click wheel and can't seem to get to any section with various language options. Please some help me get it back to english.
There are two options. The first is to learn whatever language you have it set to, the second is to find someone else with an iPod Classic and read the English menu and follow it in your iPod. I also believe you may be able to set language perfunces from within iTunes while the iPod is docked, providing they are in English.

Only my App Store is in French. How do I get it back to English? I have not been in another country and my languages under settings is set to English.
Follow this procedure:
1. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID.
2. Tap your Apple ID.
3. Tap View Apple ID.
4. Enter your password.
5. Go to Country/Region in the popup window to change to the desired store.

I have just updated my iphone software to iOS5 and now my app store and itunes on my phone is all in japanese characters!! how do i get it back to english as i dont know how much my apps are and what buttons im pressing?!?
I have the same problem! Let me know if you manage to sort it out. My iPad did the same thing but to full restore from iTunes sorted that out. Have you tried that? No such luck with my iPhone.

AndrewGo to the featured tab of the App Store. Swipe to the bottom and tap on your Apple ID. Then tap View Apple ID. Enter your password. Go to Country/region and change your store to the UK.

Why not turn off restore windows?
I really don't like the restore windows feature. I want my computer to only open to the desktop. But one site I saw disabling it is "overkill" and suggests downloading a third party app that lets you at least select which app windows to open or not.
