Why is my iWork asking me to register again

Just went to print a document that was opened in my version of Pages (iWork '09) and lo-and-behold it tells me I cannot print until I register my 90 day trial version!!!
I've been using this since I purchased it in '09!! So... since it won't let me print, I went ahead and followed the link to re-"Register" this product.
Turns out the Product Registration Website has been shut down.
The problem herein is that the statement "it's OK if you don't register it" doesn't fly... because now I can't use the software I purchased!
What a crock of fecal matter!!!
So...now what do I do??

Activation and registration are two different things; you don't have to register the application, so it doesn't matter that the server has been shut down. The way to activate the application depends on how you got it in the first place, but it is done on your computer, not on Apple's server.
If you originally purchased a serial number to activate the trial version, you have to re-enter that serial number.
If you got iWork on a DVD (or it came preinstalled, with a DVD in the software package, no serial number is required, but you must completely uninstall the trial version before you reinstall from the DVD. There are plenty of posts already on these forums with details about uninstalling.
If you purchased Pages from the (Mac) App Store, you can reinstall from there, but that might require an uninstall first.
Since your post sounds as if the application used to work and has now turned into a demo version, it would seem that the plist file containing the activation informtion was accidentallly discarded.

  • Why is older MacBook asking me to authorize again?

Yesterday I noticed that iTunes is suddenly demanding that I register my 1+ year-old laptop as a NEW machine in order to play both TV shows that I've purchased (from iTunes; some as recently as yesterday!) and some older music, as well. It's a pretty random-seeming selection of songs that are now unavailable to me, but ALL TV shows, as far as I can tell. Naturally, I'm resistant to the notion of registering this laptop (for a second time, since I've had it for over a year now) since that would add to my Apple-imposed max' quota of 5. QUESTIONS: (1) Has anyone else experienced this before...? (2) Does anyone know a way around it...?
    Thanks!

  • 10.4.10 works great, but it asked me to register again

As the subject says....10.4.10 is working perfectly but strangely when it first rebooted it launched the Setup Assistant (with the welcome animation in lots of different languages) and asked for my registration info (all prefilled).
    Odd.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
Actually, you cannot download Snow Leopard. You downloaded a Snow Leopard updater.

  • I'm asked for my registered phone # and PIN

Why am I asked to enter my registered phone # and PIN?
When you call your Skype To Go numbers, you are identified by your registered phone’s caller ID and won’t need to enter your registered phone number and PIN for authentication purposes.
There are several reasons why you could be asked for your registered phone number and PIN:
You are calling your Skype To Go number from a phone which is not registered in your account yet. You can register more phones anytime in your Skype To Go account overview.
You are calling from your registered phone, but you may have made a mistake when entering your phone number in your Skype To Go account. Please check that you entered the correct phone number.
Your phone does not submit its caller ID. In your phone’s settings, ensure your caller ID is enabled. Your phone may also submit a caller ID different from your actual phone number (e.g. when using an office phone).
You may be calling an old Skype To Go number which you previously deleted. Please sigh in to your Skype To Go account to ensure you are calling the right number.
If you are still experiencing problems, then please submit a ticket with customer service, including your Skype To Go number and the time & date you tried calling.
Why does my verification fail after entering my registered phone # and PIN?
If you call your Skype To Go numbers from a phone not registered in your Skype To Go account, then we will ask you to enter one of your registered phone numbers along with your PIN for authentication purposes. Should you experience problems during this verification process then please check the following:
Please ensure you are entering the phone number of one of your registered phones, not the number of the unregistered phone you are actually calling from. You can register more phones in your Skype To Go account.
When prompted, enter your registered phone number in this format:
Country code + phone number + the “#” key
Example 1: You live in the US and your registered phone number is 333-444-5555, then enter:
    0013334445555#
Example 2: You live in the UK and your registered phone number is 07777-888-999, then you enter:
    00447777888999#
Please check your registered phone in your Skype To Go account. You may have made a mistake when entering your phone number.
If you are unsure whether you entered the correct PIN then create a new one
You may be calling an old Skype To Go number which you previously deleted. Please sigh in to your Skype To Go account to ensure you are calling the right number.
If your selected PIN starts with a "0" then verification may fail. This is due to technical issues which we are in the process of fixing. Please change your PIN to another one which doesn't start with a "0".
If you are still experiencing problems, then please submit a ticket with customer service, including your Skype To Go number and the time & date you tried calling.

  • Every time I plug in my 2nd generation ipod, it asks me to register

I just got a new ipod last week because my previous one died on me. Its a NEW 8GB 2nd generation with iOS 4.1 and EVERY SINGLE TIME i have plugged it in it asks me to register and frankly im getting a bit p.o.'d. PLease someone help me make it stop. And also i just tried to use any of my downloaded apps and none of them will open, it goes to their first page for a second and returns to the home screen immediately. HELP!

I interpreted the originator to say that he has registered it many time. Each time he connects it to his computer it asks to to register again. I would get ****** off if that kept happening to me.

  • ITunes keeps asking me to register my iPhone

Everytime my new 4S connects to iTunes, inlcuding over Wi-Fi, iTunes makes me register the phone (or click on Register Later). This is getting annoying. I have registered the thine a dozen times and nothing seems to stick. What do I do? I can't register it online on the Apple website because it doesn't even list the 4S as a product.

I just got off the phone with Apple as I had the same issue.  Apparently, the phone has a file that was not accepting the edit that itunes was sending it, causing it to always want to register.  The 'fix' was as follows:
    - create new user (test user) in users and groups
    - log off main account
    - log in with test user
    - open itunes
    - identify the device, register later or never (do not register)
(the device was there, with all proper info....)
    - Go through all the tabs to ensure that all boxes are UNCHECKED for sync.
    - Then sync the device (empty sync)
    - eject the iphone 4s from itunes
    - close/reopen itunes, and then reconnect iphone 4s.
Once I did this, it did not ask me to register again.  Log off test user, and log in with main account, and retry.  Worked for me.

Inlink if you are being asked for your serial number then it is usually due to the computer not being able to reach the activation server.  Please see Sign in, activation, or connection errors | CC, CS6, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html for information on how to resolve the connection failure.

  • Why is Elements 12 asking me to start a trial period when I already registered my product last year?

Why is Elements 12 asking me to start a trial period when I already registered my product last year?

Thx John - but the page did not provide a solution. I too am having the same problem. Simply, we are being ripped off blindly by Adobe, moreso in Australia where, because of geopricing by Adobe, we are forced to pay more for our software ...

    Hi,
You need to sign in when using Photoshop Elements 12 as it is the method of activation. If you sign out it deactivates that installation.
If you are having problems, see if the following helps.
Sign in, activation, or connection errors | CS5.5 and later

  • Why does Adobe Photoshop CS6 continually ask me to register?

Adobe Photoshop CS6 continually asks me to register.  I go to the weblink provided, find my information already there, and then try and exit.  This happens often, maybe once a week.  What can I do to make sure that Photoshop CS6 remembers that I have already registered.   Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Try this, you may have to do this untill you are ask to register
Right click the shortcut and run it as administrator (only required once, you won't have to run it as admin after), click "do not register" when it starts up and you shouldn't receive the prompt again.

  • Updated to iOS 7, when my phone came on for the first time I could see I had 2 new viber messages.  When I went to open viber it asked me to register my number, which I did. Once the app was open I noticed all my message history was gone.

    Hi,
I have only just upgraded to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4 and am having a  problem with Viber. When my phone came on for the first time after the update I could see I had 2 new viber messages, when I went to open viber it asked me to register my number, which I did. Once the app was open I noticed all my message history was gone...
I still have an itunes backup of my phone just before the update, I restored it to this backup, followed the same process and now viber will not even work (the access code wont sms to me and the phone call option for recieving this code also come up with some error about not being able to do this at this time).
I have been able to access viber using another phone number (I have two sims which I use as I am currently overseas in south korea, my referenced australian sim has worked previously on viber overseas and I definently do have roaming on) but again I have no message history.
    So to questions:
    1) Why is my activation not working under my referenced australian number?
    2) Can I recover all my message history which should be saved in my itunes backup?  I am willing to revert to this backup state again if needed.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Look iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is a backup listed for your iPhone 5 dated BEFORE you restored your iPhone 4 backup to your iPhone 5? If not, your data is gone. If there is a backup, on your iPhone 5: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You should now be able to restore that backup, if it exists, to your iPhone 5.

  • HT201364 Hi, If I do not have to pay for free installation, why am I being asked for billing details?

Hi, If I do not have to pay for free installation, why am I being asked for billing details?
    Aaron

iCloud backs up your iOS device (not your Mac) automatically. You can remove the backup:
    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm122d3ef202
and it will not back up again. This will not affect a backup made using iTunes. The notice you see refers to calendars, contacts, iWork documents and so on, which live on the server and are read from there by your Mac, and so will obviously disappear if you turn iCloud off altogether (which you don't need to do) or turn off Documents (which you don't need to do either).

  • My wife just bought her first Iphone  a 4s a fwe months ago, its secondhand a few months ago but it came with ios7.  Now the phone has stopped working and is asking to be registered with a Developer Program portal  any ideas how I can fix this for her?

my wife just boughtnher first apple an iphone4s she got it secondhand about last july , it came with ios7 which had not been released but today its stopped working and asking to be registered with a developers program,  how can I restore her phone and hopefullykeep her current data. Please keep your answer simple we are not it people thanks.

Well, you have your answer perhaps as to why the phone was being sold in the first place - rather than being a registered developer, the previous owner probably downloaded and installed an illegal copy of iOS 7 beta on the phone and it has now bricked the phone.  Some people did this and of course they could not wait to get their hands on iOS 7, but now it has been released officially, everybody moans.
The only thing you can do is try resetting the phone again.  Connect it to iTunes and install iOS 7.0.2 and restore it as new and see if that works.  This might help the phone but will not preserve data.
If it still won't work, then I suggest that you confront the previous owner of the phone and return it for a full refund and start again, but this time buy the phone from a legitimate source.

  • TS1363 my computer says that my new ipod can be detected but not identified.  When I plug it in to my computer no screen appears asking me to register it.  Help!!

I purchased a new IPOD and my when I plug it in my computer says that it can not be identified.
In the past when I have plugged in a new ipod a screen will pop up and ask me to register it.
    Why is this not happening?

Never mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!
P.S. For anyone who experiences this, here is the fix: Hold Power and Home in unison for 6 seconds, then power on as normal.
