Why is my Mac Air book Slow, its either freezes or I see the wheel, stand still forever....

Why is my Mac book air freezing up, or I see the wheel, takes forecer, or I have to shut down

The next time you have the problem, note the exact times when it starts and ends: hour, minute, second.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped during that interval. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

My Mac air book screen automatic change and automatic open different programs during my working it's move its self and I lost my work and mouse pointer automatic dance. Help me to solve
    Any one can help me

Thank you for your response - I'll give it a go.
Also, just to update, my iMac cursor seems to glitch a little bit less now. It seems that at least ONE of my problems may have been caused by sitting my iPhone upon my WACOM tablet. The tablet must receive some sort of disruption from having my phone on it - and removing it seems to remedy a fraction of my mouse-jumping problems - if only for a meanwhile.
The mouse cursor still does jump around on its own occasionally, and the other mouse problems do persist - so this must not be the only culprit for my array of problems.

why is my macbook air so slow?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    Step 1
This diagnostic procedure will query the system log for messages that may indicate a hardware fault. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator. I've tested them only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'Channel t|GPU D|I/O|nspace-h|n Cause: -' | tail | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, stop here and post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
    Step 2
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
    Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Why does my mac air always restart when I open it in our university?

Why does my mac air always restart when I open it in our university?
This has been always bothering me for some time already. Whenever I open my macbook air in our university it always warns me to restart my device. When I do the same thing happens over and over again until it reached 27 reports.

I'd make a sound too if i was put into a bag haha.
Only thing i could think of it it has a mind of its own or your putting your computer to sleep. Try shutting down your mac before placing in your bag and see if that changes things.

  • Why is my Mac Air still hot when I put then in sleeping mode?

Hi,I wonder why is my Mac Air still hot when I put then in sleeping mode?

I just looked in my history - can't find the link. I was googling for about 15 minutes out of curiousity before.. just researched more though. I think its an integrated circuit (the IC part) that is a combination of both analog and digital die sensor readings:
"Many embedded systems need to read sensors that produce analog signals. Since processors are built to interpret and process digital data, i.e. 1s and 0s, they are not able to do anything with the analog signals that may be sent to it by a device. So the analog to digital converter is used to convert the incoming data into a form that the processor can recognize."
    Analog Die - Analog : 125
    CPU Die - Digital Core : 129
    x19 controller IC: 264
    125 + 129 = 254....close....
Thank you for asking! You spurred further investigation
And your computer temperatures look absolutely fine. I wouldn't worry at all.

  • I have a desktop pc with iTunes. I just purchased a mac air book. Can I sync all of my devices, iPhone, iPod, iPad, to both computers or do I have to pick one. I would like to have iTunes on my mac, but I'm afraid I will run out of hard drive space.

I have a desktop pc with itunes. I just purchased a Mac Air book.  Can I sync my devices, iphone, ipod, ipad, to both computers. Or do I have to pick one? I would like to have itunes on my mac, but i am afraid I will run out of hard disk space. Do I need to set up a seperate account on my Mac so I can load some music on it if I plan to keep my devices synced to my PC?  Would it be possible to sync only my Iphone to my Mac?

To get that much storage, you need to look to professional online services.  Pro-level hosting accounts may offer you that much (well, many will offer as much storage as you are prepared to pay for), or Amazon professional cloud services.  You could also store the files on a home machine and pay for a professional hosting service so you could stream them over your own account (assuming your ISP connection and agreement allows for the bandwidth used).  You would still need to deal with the issue of finding an app for the iPad that supported avi streaming.

  • HT1338 why is my MacBook Air running slow and I bought the 11 inch with all memory and turbo boost

why is my MacBook Air running slow and I bought the 11 inch with all memory and turbo boost

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Log out and log back in. Any change?
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Again, if only Safari is involved, open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Safari, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Do I have the latest Mac air book ?

I was asked if I have the latest Mac air book but not sure... Could someone help? I have an 11' MacBook Air, 1.3 GHz, with 4GB 100 MHz DDR3. TIA

If you open System Information>Hardware>Hardware overview>Model Identifier it should be 6.1 if it is the newest 11" MBA which was introduced in June of this year.  5.1 will indicate that it is the prior version.  Since you indicate that you have a 1.3 GHz CPU, I suspect yours is the newest that is available.
No mention will be made of "the model year and whether it is a early, mid or late version."
    Ciao.

  • Any suggestions on how you can transfer photos (including location description etc) from iphoto's on a Mac air book to a Mac?

Any suggestions on how you can transfer photos (including location description etc) from iphoto's on a Mac air book to a Mac? Whenever I export the pictures the additional information is lost

    Two ways:
    1. File -> Export. Set the Kind to Jpeg or Tiff
Check the boxes at 'Location Information' and 'Titles and Keyword'
The information is written to the iptc and Exif metadata on the file.
    2. Use iPhoto Library Manager This will get all of the information plus faces and edit history

  • Mac air book ssd questions(i'm new here)

hi, i am new here on this forum. i've been debating/planning on buying the mac air book ssd for some weeks now already...but recently spend a hour reading through all the mac air book problems on here it's making me think twice. i mean the machine looks awsome and etc..but i've been hearing it has wireless problems...one thing about me is that i'm a wireless guy and that is the sole purpose i will be buying this machine for. have they fix these problems yet on the air? like freezing, over-heating, and wireless problems? any answers will greatly be appreciated.
    thanks

I can tell you to go with the 1.8/64GB SSD if you can. Especially with the price drop. I know from experience that when I had the 1.6/80 (was returned because of a heat issue), I upgraded to custom 1.8/80GB HDD and there is a difference. I now use it as a primary computer with no issues. For the $500 more, go with SSD if you can... much faster read rates, snappy overall, and very quick startup times. Some people say go for HDD, but I do notice it is sluggish at times, but still okay overall for the price and extra space.
About freezing, yes, I've had the odd freeze, but probably general computer related, such as when I leave it on all the time and use sleep on/off. Perhaps an app is causing this, so I now try to restart every once in a while. Other than that, it is rock solid and I carry this computer everywhere becuase it is so portable. I purchased the Speck SeeThru Smoke Case... looks great, and easier to carry around (but it is heavy at first). About wireless issues, never had an issue, it works like a charm.
