Why does my Mac Pro not find the wireless keyboard after changing the batteries.  I restarted the computer but it still doesn't recognize the keyboard?

Bad batteries or batteries inserted wrong, that's about all there is.

  • Aluminum Wireless Keyboard not working properly after Firmware update 1.1

    Hi,
Well, as the subject says, my keyboard is not working properly after I updated the firmware. The problem is that several keys (delete, down arrow, brackets and apostrophe) stopped working right after I installed the update. I never dropped it or hit it. And I did not stop or interrupt or did anything during the install. I take very good care of it.
I have already tried toubleshooting with the support page, restarting the iMac, taking off the batteries, setting it up with bluetooth again, going back a week with time machine and to reinstall the firmware. So, if you have something new for me to try, I will really apreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Franco.

I have 24" iMac with the Apple wireless M&KB - I know this is basic but have you tried a fresh set of batteries? My KB will refuse to establish connection when batteries are on the weak side the firmware update may just be a co incidents. If your wireless mouse is working OK then I would guess the blue tooth is functioning.
Not sure about the 10.49 download - are your other file downloads completing properly? Are there any error messages?

  • Mac Pro 2nd Gen not shutting down after latest leopard update 10.5.3

I have a mac pro 8 core 2nd gen machine (August 2007) just updated from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 and immediately after doing so the machine usually will not shut down by it self. It goes through the shut down process, exits finder but then the grey spinning dial just keeps going. I left it for 30 minutes like that, and then realised I had to manually force power down by holding the power button. It does that now all the time, except once. I don't know what could be causing this, works fine otherwise, but really annoying as the machine is located in a difficult to reach spot- so when I finish work I have to reach around and hold down the power button to get it to turn off - wouldnt' mind to fix that.

    try these steps

  • Wired keyboard not being found

Every time I power down my iMac it will not find the wired keyboard on start up instead it stalls looking for a bluetooth wireless keyboard. I know I can get around this by resetting the peripheral parameters each time by holding down CMD,ALT,P and R while powering up which usually has to be repeated at least 3 times before  its successful and only after unplugging every usb device and and LAN connection. Why is this doing this and does anyone clever know how or where i can disable the search for the wireless keyboard.

having problems at accessing web sites since installing lion for example i tried to access ebay and wouldn't load waited & waited & waited gave up in the end and had to use my old toshiba laptop this worked fine so nothing wrong with modem or router   wife iPad accessed okay please can anyone offer any help
Before installing lion access was okay to all sites
    Thanks
    Dennis

You are right!!I had to disconnect from the default  router, then "force" the connection to the unit even though it was not connected to internet and then I could access the unite manager. This allowed me to set up a different APN and I can now connect to the Bahamas Telephone Co Network through my unlocked aircard! This is a savior because I could find any aircard or dongle anywhere for sale in Grand Bahama. Thanks so much for the help! Cheers,

  • Airport express not being found after going through setup wizard

I restore the airport express to factory conditions by pressing the reset button while plugging it in and then continue pressing the reset button for a further 10 seconds.
I open airport utility and see my airport express in the left column. I click the setup wizard and perform the following:
    I click:
    1. I want airport express to join my current network
    2. I want airport express to wirelessly join my current network
    3. I select wpa2 personal and enter my wireless password for my router
    4. I click the update button. Message says: "The settings for this airport express have been successfully updated. you can close this window now or wait for this airport express to restart
after about 3 minutes or so I get this message:
"airport utility was unable to find your apple wireless device after restarting. the settings for this apple wireless device have been succesffully updated, but there was a problem joining the wireless network or finding the apple wireless device. you may need to select your netowrk from the airport menu and try again."
    any thoughts?

    HI
are you sure you are using the correct security type for the main network, when it asks you, after selecting the network you want to join? If you chose the wrong one the airport utility will not tell you, it just won't find it after restart.
check it in network pref/advanced tab
also check the firmware version of the express in airport utility/manual setup/summary tab

  • First time user trying to set up new Mac pro, wireless mouse and wireless keyboard together?

So  I just bought a new Mac Pro, wireless keyboard and mouse. i am a first time Mac user. How do I even get started......connect the wireless mouse and key board to the Mac Pro desktop to even get started??

Just turn on the mouse and keyboard and observe that the green light comes on and starts to blink then turn on the Mac. The Mac should give you on-screen instructions.

  • Just bought a new mac mini, wireless keyboard, and track pad. My track pad will not synch. All advise I have been given is to change items in the setting menu, but I cant because I still have to get through the setup!!

Just bought a new mac mini, wireless keyboard, and track pad. My track pad will not synch. All advise I have been given is to change items in the setting menu, but I cant because I still have to get through the setup!!

The power button for the Trackpad is on the right hand end of the battery case. Press that button to initiate the pairing process. On the top of the Trackpad just above the power button is a tiny green light (you probably cannot see it unless it is lighted). That light will indicate ehther or not the Trackpad is discoverable. If the Trackpad has discoverable the green light will blink on and off. If it does not pair within 3 minutes you will have to press the power button again to re-initiate the pairing process. Once your Trackpad has paired, you can just leave it on and it will pair automatically when you reboot your Mac.
If you are having problems pairing, try turning off any other Bluetooth devices within 30 or so feet of your Mac mini. That includes other Computers, iPhones, iPads, etc. that may be in the area. Once your Trackpad has pairedwith your mini, you don't have to be concerned about other Bluetooth devices.
One other hint, I find that although the Wireless Trackpad does not eat batteries as fast as the Magic Mouse it still uses more than the Wireless Keyboard. It is a good idea to keep a supply of AA batteries around. I have used Apple's Rechargable batteries, but found they did not last that long before needing to be recharged. I have had the best battery life from Duracell Quantum batteries.

  • My MacBook Pro keyboard not working correctly after Win7 bootcamp installation. In OSx boot it keep Win keyboard. How can I have Mac keyboard in OS boot and Win keyboard in Win boot?

My MacBook Pro keyboard not working correctly after Win7 bootcamp installation.
Installation went well but when I boot either with OSx or Win it always keeps Windows keyboard.
How can I have Mac keyboard in OS boot and Win keyboard in Win boot?

Hi - I have the exact same model as your MacBook and had a few questions as mine is acting up. I upgraded the ram to 8gb (2x 4GB ram) and ever since then my computer has not been running as smoothly and the start up time is horrendous. Have you encountered this problem? And if so how did you fix? What would you advise me do?
I was thinking of reverting back to the original factory 4GB then rebooting the entire computer. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

Migration Assistant: Problems transferring data from PC (XP SP3) to new Mac Pro 2012 - can not get Migration Assistant to work as PC will not display verfify passcode
Hello, I am having problems migrating data from my old PC running XP (SP3) to my new Mac Pro 2012 using the Migration Assistant.
    - I downloaded and installed the Windows Migration Assistant from Apple
    - My Mac recognized PC and displays passcode
    - The sasscode does not show / display on my PC
    - My Mac is then stuck in "authenticating" loop and the PC is stuck "waiting for Mac to connect."
    - Both computers are connected on same network (have connected PC on WIFI and using ethernet to Reuter)
I have looked on support site and only response I saw says to reinstall Windows Migration Assistant (which I have done)
Any ideas?  If cant get this to workare there instructions for manually bring across relevant data eg itunes music and apps, photos, picasa data etc?

Why not turn off the Windows firewall and uninstall any other firewall software you have installed?
If you are using a Norton product uninstall it and discard it. To fully unistall most Norton products you have to go to the Norton website and download a soecial program to completely get rid of it. The normal uninstall feature built into the program will not remove all of it.

  • Mac pro + aluminum keyboard

at the end of April 2008 i got a Mac Pro, 2.8ghz 8-core, 2gb Ram, 320gb Hard drive, first of all upgraded the memory to 6gb.
My machine is used for pro-audio work.
One problem that developed in the first few days was the Aluminum keyboard not being recognized once the mac had got into OS X. This became apparent because I have the mouse plugged into the keyboard on startup I am prompted with a mouse wizard that claims that there is no mouse plugged in.
When I un-plug the keyboard and then plug it back in the wizard disappears and the keyboard and mouse work fine. Also I cant get into target disk mode either because the keyboard is just not working when the machine starts up. Ironically I had to use a microsoft keyboard to get into target disk mode when i need it.
Any ideas? I have seen some similar problems to this but not quite like this posted on various forums. Also just to add the machine is always kept up to date and runs 24/7 so its not often that I have to disconnect and reconnect the keboard.

    benny,
I was hoping that you were going to say 'just monitor', but if it happens with rear USB slots it's something else.
I only have three ideas, no technical basis, just what I would try next:
Is Bluetooth on ? and at power-up it's picking up a device that tells it to ignore the USB keyboard, but when it comes to a subsequent check, the bluetooth connection turns out to be unsuitable.
Is it the standard Apple Mighty Mouse plugged into the USB keyboard ? or do you have another mouse ? Or do you have another USB device plugged into the keyboard, god forbid a USB memory card reader for example.
You may have mentioned, are there any other USB devices attached, at all ? same issue if you disconnect everything else ? Disconnect the USB cable from the monitor too. Same issue.
Otherwise, get the keyboard replaced under AppleCare.

Because Apple did not put one in there.
Will Apple eventually stop producing CD/DVD drives?
We can't really answer that, but it would not surprise me. More and more of the computers being produced by Apple lack an internal optical drive. If you really need one, get an external such as LowLuster suggests.
    Best of luck.
