Why is my MacBook not Syncing to my iPhone?

Hi all,
Have just started using a new iPhone 4S with iOS5 alongside my trusty old MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Core Duo running OSX.6.8). Now, when I set up iTunes and checked all the boxes for "Sync"ing I wanted...
1) my laptop has sent all its address book to the iPhone. However, new contacts I add on the iPhone aren't going over to the computer. How do I do that?
2) I can't get photos visible on my laptop. Took a load today that I want to use in a presentation tomorrow, but whilst iTunes says it downloaded them, I can't find them (and can't find their names on the iPhone...) Similarly, I clicked on "Import from iPhone" in Preview and iPhoto, but the windows in each claimed there were no photos to download from the iPhone, and didn't give me the option of pointing to the right folder on the phone. I can get to the photos easily by clicking on "photos" on the iPhone...
So how do I get these things to work together???

iCloud wouldn't have anything to do with your Yahoo email account. It doesn't sync email; it only provides you with an iCloud email account if you wish to use it.
If you're having problems with your calendar syncing, you would first need to find out which of your devices is not syncing events to iCloud. Compare your calendar on your Mac and on your phone with the calendar on icloud.com (which is your iCloud calendar). When you do this, which device's calendar is not the same as the one on icloud.com?

I must apologize as I misread your post. I though that you were talking about Safari bookmarks but you post does clearly state iBooks bookmarks.
You may want to just try restarting both devices and see if that helps. One other thing that you could try is quit iBooks on both devices and then launch it again and see if the bookmarks are synced when you relaunch.

I thought this was happening to me too recently, until I realized I had a second calendar open on my computer (I use Gmail). I was entering events into my 'Home' calendar in iCal - which is not set up to anything. I had to make sure my Gmail calendar was open. I ended up having to transer a bunch of stuff over from my 'Home' calendar to my Gmail calendar. If you are using iCal, you can see mutliple calendars open at once and it's not overly obvious to which calendar you are adding events. I'm now real careful to have my Gmail calendar as being the ONLY calendar that is visible.

After upgrading to iOS5 and all the iCloud things, my iCal is not syncing with my iPhone or my iPad. I've tried all the setting, but cannot figure out what I'm doing or not doing that it won't sync. I checked the Cloud and the calendar is there. Can anyone help?

I had this problem, too. To reiterate, events on the iPad and iCloud were loading down into iCal on my Macbook Pro, but events I put on my MacBook Pro were not migrating back.
It comes down to which calendar the event is listed under. In iCal (right now) your default calendars are all local. If you change the event to an iCloud calendar, the migration is seamless. So, when you create an event, just scroll down in calendars, pick the iCloud equivalent to the "On my Mac" calendars (they're mirrored/duplicated) and it all works just fine.

Why are Apps still not syncing between my iPhone 4S and iPad 4?

I have a new iPad 4 and I also have an iPhone 4S. I have enabled 'Automatic Downloads' on both, but for some reason, I can download Apps on one device and they're not showing up on the other. The only thing I can figure is that maybe some of the Apps downloaded on the iPad, for example, aren't compatible with the iPhone 4S and therefore they don't automatically download. Or, and I hope note, there's a glitch in the system :-(
I like to have all my stuff sync'd to the extent possible, but this automated App synchronization doesn't really seem to be happening as advertised.
And yes, I did go into iTunes on my PC and enable the automatic downloads there as well on the Preferences tab.
Some example Apps that didn't download from my iPad to my iPhone are USA Today, Men's Health Mag, UPS and Quick Scan barcode scanner.
Any help is much appreciated.

I may recall that you might have to charge your device in order for the automatic download to work. But I'm not 100% sure, it is worth trying out.

I synced all my photos from my iPhone to iPhoto and deleted them off my iPhone. I then created albums on iPhoto and synced them back to my iPhone. For some reason the GPS data wasn't carried over - even though I can confirm it is there as I can see it in iPhoto.. Any ideas?

It sounds like youre being prompted that there is not enough space. I would use the following article to help resolve the issue named:

Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
Restore using iTunes.

Why are my contacts not syncing from my iphone to my mac?

I enter phone numbers on my iphone, but they don't seem to be showing up on my computer, even after I have synced. I have no idea why. I'm thinking of shutting off iCloud (I don't see any benefit to it right now, unless I'm using it wrong), will that help? I'm getting very frustrated having to enter contacts twice (one in my phone when I'm out and about, and another time if I want it on my computer's address book).

Have you done any of Apple's recommended troubleshooting?

Why does iTunes Match not sync to my iphone 5?

I have tried about every suggested solution i found on the interwebs (including this community) concerning this problem but iMatch still just doesn't want to sync on my new iPhone 5. I am getting desperate..
The only thing I see is a frozen cloud-screen when i start the music-app..

I had this problem too, and solved it yesterday.
This anomaly is related with the 1st time iPhone activation by iCloud. without using iTunes.
If you erase your phone and restore your iPhone using iCloud backup, it won't work. But, if you erase your phone (backing up all informations on your computer) and restore using the iTunes software, it will work.
I did it yesterday and solved the problem.
What I did:
1) connected the phone on my computer and did a complete backup on my computer;
2) erase the phone (you can do it on iTunes or on the phone);
3) before put my account information on the phone, plugged it on the computer again;
4) follow the instructions on iTunes (restore the backup)

I did find the info tab while trying to sync my calendars, but my iPhone5, iPhone 4S and iPad still won't sync to my MacBook Pro.

There is no Info tab and you need to sync contacts & calendars via iCloud.

An exclamation mark means that it doesn't know where you moved the music to. To fix this, click on the exclamation point and when it asks you to browse to the location where you moved it to, use the normal commands to go up and down folders in your external drive until you find the song. Repeat as necessary.

I'm sorry you ran into trouble here. There are a few things we can check right away to start debugging this:
- First, would you try signing out of the Creative Cloud app and see if this solves the issue?
- Could you try quitting/restarting the Creative Cloud app. Did this solve the issue?
- Could you try Turning File and Font Sync off under: Gear > Preferences > Fonts. Wait a second, then turn it back on. See if the font/s show up and if not, try syncing again. Did this solve it?
- Could you tell me if you're on the Windows/Mac OS X and the version?
- Could you check version of the Creative Cloud app you're using and let me know which version it is? This can be found under: Gear > Preferences > General > Account
If none of those worked, I would drop us an email at: [email protected] so we can look into this further.

I made a playlist in iTunes, but it will not sync with my iPhone when I connect it to iTunes and select sync, why? On the music tab, I have selected, import all songs.

Okay, but being "checked and highlighted" does not cause media to sync.
Do you manually manage the content on the device or use the sync feature as designed?
If manually managing the content, can you "drag and drop" the media onto the device?
If syncing, go to the Movies (or video) tab and select the video there, then sync.
Does it work now?

Having an @me.com address allows you to use Mail with iCloud, but has nothing to do with your problem. If you create an event on the iPhone, then go to icloud.com, does it show up there? Alternatively, make sure Calendar is turned on under Settings > iCloud, and confirm your Apple ID.

make sure also that you have really set-up iCloud.
