  • Why does my macbook pro restart whenever I wake it up from sleep?

Whenever my Macbook Pro goes to sleep and I wake it up, it restarts. When it turns on the screen says that there was a problem and it had to restart. It seems to only restart when there are applications open, but this could just be a fluke. I copied the code that showed up in the box that asked if I wanted to report this problem to Apple. I looked at a few discussions on here and I ran a hardware test and some other test but they haven't fixed the issue Can someone please help?! Thanks in advance.

That panic was not caused by third-party software. If the problem is recurrent, the possibilities are:
    A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
    Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
An internal hardware fault (including incompatible memory)
An obscure bug in OS X
You can rule out the first two possibilities by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation (after erasing the startup volume) may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place, without erasing.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it as directed in this support article.
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications for your model. Memory that is either slower or faster than specified may be incompatible.
The Apple Hardware Test, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
If none of the above applies, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least  two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Why does my MacBook Pro battery discharge even when the charger is plugged in?

I've been having a myriad of problems with my MacBook Pro's battery. The main problem is that when in use, the battery steadily discharges often at a very quick rate even when I have the charger plugged in, the only way I can get it to recharge is to close the lid or turn the computer off, however, it has recently started to take a very long time to recharge (I left it for 12 hours and it charged from 0% to 60%). I also noticed that while off, the charger light occassionaly goes green and then back to orange every few minutes. When I manage to get the battery up to 100% charge, it usually stays at 'Charged' for around 5 or 10 minutes and then it just comes up with 'Calculating...' as it slowly discharges, it also occassionaly claims that it is recharging and that it will take around 6 to 8 hours but it only charges about 1% of the battery and switches to 'Not charging'. Also, sometimes the charger light wont come on when it is plugged in and the Mac refuses to acknowledge it is plugged in for some time.
I took it to the Apple Store a few months ago and one of the Geniuses reset the System Management controller and did a quick hardware test which seemed to fix it but the problems returned soon after, I cannot enter the hardware test screen and subsequent attempts to reset the SMC have done nothing, he also tested the charger and tried it with another charger but it did not help.  Hope you guys can help me as I am completely stumped by this and its beginning to annoy me as my Mac is becoming almost unusable.

  • Why does my MacBook Pro not boot up with the Snow Leopard Disk?

I have erased the entire hard drive on a 2011 macbook pro that had snow leopard on it. I was corrupted. I not insert my Snow Leopard Disk and the machine will not boot. I chose target mode to erase the hard drive from my mac book pro with Mt. Lion on it.
    Thank uou for any help,
    Ken

Target mode?  Is there a second computer involved?  Why not insert the Snow Leopard disc in the computer on which you wish to install and hold down the C key to boot from it?
If the disc came with a different computer it will not boot another model.  Retail discs also may not boot all model computers, even those that came with the same major version.  For example, some MBPs came with 10.6.6 but a retail disc may only be 10.6.3.

  • Why is my MacBook Pro safari not connecting to the internet?

The past week I have been trying to use Safari on my MacBook Pro but it keeps saying Safari can't verify the identity of the website. I am not sure how to get rid of the popup, so I can continue to use the website. What do I need to do to resolve this?

Which website?  Is it one in particular, or dose it appear on every website?
When you open Safari, does it always open with this site?

  • Why doesn't MacBook Pro go to sleep when the battery is empty?

    Hi there!
I was calibrating my MacBook Pro's battery and when I was running the battery down, after the point where the "Low Battery" warning popped up, it ran for 9-10 minutes and the computer just shut down. Let me mention that my battery has no problem lasting for 7 hours. What could be the issue? Is this normal behaviour?

You're just panicing - after there's no more battery reserve left, the Mac will shut down. And if you've a newer MacBook Pro with the unremovable battery, there's no reason to calibrate the battery. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490. As it states:
    "Portables with built-in batteries
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider."
    Regards,
    Clinton

  • Why is my macbook pro restarting?

So I have had my macbookpro since mid 2010, and just recently it started to overheat.  Also I dropped my macbook on the ground outside, but I don't think that has anything to do with the problem because I have opened the bottom of it and nothing is harmed. Lately it has been restarting alot and then coming up with this error upon startup.  If anyone can help me please do because I am in college, and I cannot afford to get a new laptop so I am not sure what to do.  If I cannot fix it could I sell it to someone like a business that can refurbish it, so that I can get a new cheaper laptop?

Sounds like you have the mid-2010 problem. There's an issue with the graphics module on that machine. There was a program in place to replace the motherboard within 3 years of purchase, but you're probably outside of that. Some folks have supposedly gotten theirs changed outside of that period, so you can try.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
What you can do to use it is download gfxstatus from http:gfx.io and force the graphics to Intel. If that works, you'll lose the higher end graphics for gaming and such, but at least it'll work.

  • Why does my Macbook Pro screen go black when the charger is plugged in while using bootcamp?

While on bootcamp, my computer runs perfectly fine unless I have the charger plugged in. Once I plug it in the screen goes black and starts to charge. I know the computer is still on because I can hear audio from videos if one is playing while I plug in the charger. Once I unplug it the screen comes back on. This makes it so I am unable to work on my computer with the charger plugged in. This is a new problem and did not start once I installed windows 7, it used to work fine. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your suggestion! It helped me with this issue as well. My problem was that I was that Windows had started but wasn't logged in yet--the brightness keys didn't work on the windows login screen. I had to log in to Windows, then plug in the power, then turn the brightness up.
    Thanks again for the suggestion!

  • Why do my MacBook Pro and my PC have the same IP address?

I wanted to use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to my PC, but I can't because they both have the same exact IP address. Everyone keeps saying that this is impossible, but when I go to ipchicken.com from both computers, the same exct ip address is there. How do I change this?

Sure it can be assigned by DHCP. If trying to access from the internet he would need to forward port 3389 to a specific IP. Most routers today have static assignment by MAC address through the DHCP server. So all devices will get the same private IP on the LAN when turned on but still have DHCP enabled for when they are take away from one LAN and connected to another.
Setting static IPs on computers is very old school and today isn't really need IF you have a router that can assign IP by MAC address.
But to the OP original question. It is my opinion he is trying to connect to his Win PC across his LAN and doesn't know that you have to check the IP address on the computers. Not through a web page on the internet. Otherwise he would of realized that the IP he was getting was for the WAN port of his router.

  • Why is my old skin/persona now missing since the update?

I have just done the latest firefox update and the old persona that I used to use and loved is now gone. Why is this and can i get it back?

Firefox only stores the images from the currently selected persona.<br />
All others that you have installed are loaded from the server when you select a different persona.<br />
So if you've already a new persona then the files of a possible previously installed persona have been replaced.
If you like a persona then it is always best to save a copy of the files lightweighttheme-header and lightweighttheme-footer in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the persona is no longer available on the persona server.

  • Macbook Pro keeps crashing after airport Atheros update (none before)

I installed the update for Airport Atheros last week and I consistently had Kernel Panics. I thought it was the bad ram that I just installed. I then took the ram out and reinstalled Mac OSX completely. I ran all the software updates including the airport atheros one. Everything was running well then when I clicked on the wifi icon on the menu bar, i was hit by a kernel panic. I am so frustrated because I spent all night to restore Mac OSX and my personal data.
So as you know, I never had a kernel panic related to airport card on my 90 days old macbook pro santa rosa prior to the update.
Do you know anyway to revert the airport atheros update? I do not want to go through the hassles of reinstalling everything again.
    Thanks for your helps.
