  • Why does my MacBook Pro make a clicking noise when i lift it up.

Hi i just recently got a MacBook Pro. I get this weird clicking noise from the right side of the trackpad. I don't know why its doing this noise but i think its got something to do with the superdrive or cd drive. This only happens when i pick it up or rotate it around on my lap.

Just to clarify... and in case you're not familiar with how hard drives work... There are metal platters in your hard drive that spin at either 5400 or 7200 times per minute (that's either 90 or 120 times per second respectively). There is a little read head that floats less than a papers width above that super fast spinning platter. If you bump your computer while the read/write head is over the platter, there is a chance it can bump into the spinning platter causing permanent damage to it. As a result, hardware manufacturers have developed ways to lock the head when a "sudden motion" is detected in order to reduce the chance of damage. In some cases (like the MacBooks), it is built into the notebook itself... in other cases, the technology is built into the drive. The clicking you hear, as others have indicated, is the sound of the drive head locking... it's a good thing.

  • Why is my MacBook pro making a beeping noise when I turn it on with no screen showing?

My MacBook pro turned on fine until here was a bunch of numbers showing on the screen and told me to shut it down so I did. When I waited 15 seconds I tried turning it on again and now every time I try to turn it on it makes a beeping sound and won't show a screen. It will just keep beeping until I turn it back off. I have only had it for two weeks so idk what the problem is.

The FINDER HELP section titled 'If you hear beeps when your computer starts up'  suggests that you take your MBP to an Apple Store or an authorized service facility.  The following leads you to an Apple Support article germain to your problem:  https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1547.

  • HT1338 MacBook Pro 13.3: Desktop screen will not come up when turned on.  Screen is blank except for an icon of a folder with a question mark on it, in the middle of an otherwise blank screen, laptop making a clicking noise.

My MacBook Pro 13.3 MAC OS  X v10.7 laptop will not come up.  Blank screen comes up, no color/desktop, etc., only an icon of a folder in the middle of the screen with a question mark on the folder.  Laptop making a clicking noise. Suggestions? Thanks!

It's under warranty. Take it in to have Apple fix it.
The "flashing ?" means the machine can't find the start up disk. The clicking noise is a give away that the drive is damaged.

  • HT1338 why my macbook pro making lot of noise inside. Is it something to do my shutting down. I usually shut down my system in every week.

why my macbook pro making lot of noise inside. Is it something to do my shutting down. I usually shut down my system in every week.
Can anybody provide any solution on this.

What kind of noise and when?  There are fans inside that run at various noise levels keeping things at the right temperature.  There is a hard drive, unless you have SSD, that can make noise when the stepping motor moves the track arm.  There is an optical drive that makes noise at startup.
There are noises when you move the MBP and the motion sensor engages.

I have wifi at home, so to conserve battery I only use edge when at home.
I'm noticing that on my iPhone 4, when I make or receive calls on EDGE, I hear an intermittent popping or clicking type of noise. At first I thought the person I was talking to kept touching the microphone on their phone.
This doesn't happen on 3G, only edge. I've called my other phone and placed my iPhone 4 on Hold, and I was STILL able to hear the noise.
Can someone please make a call on Edge to another phone and stay on the line for a few minutes to see if the same happens for them? It gets really annoying after a while. I can hear it when using the handset earpiece and also the earphones(which is REALLY annoying because it's more audible).
Setting aside the "noise" issue, why are you doing this at all? First of all, if you have WiFi, your iPhone automatically uses WiFi instead of 3G, so you're not gaining anything there. Second, EDGE is for data only, not voice, so, if you turn off 3G, you're using GSM for voice, which is a rather antiquated standard. Lots of electronic devices may interfere with a GSM signal, and for voice, 3G vs. GSM probably has no difference in battery usage. Third, and really the most important, if you're at home, why wouldn't you plug the iPhone into the charger overnight. Are you on the phone constantly?
Again, what you're doing is really kind of silly since it gains you nothing.

  • When songs are playing in itunes the sound keeps pausing and making little clicking noises. Any ideas?

When songs are playing in itunes the sound keeps pausing for brief moments and making little clicking noises. Any ideas how to fix this?

Error -36 is an I/O error, which could indicate a damaged Catalog file, corrupted bitmap or (even worse) a dying HD.
I would recommend to run Disk Utility and perform a 'Verify disk'.
If lots of errors are found, try to save as much files as possible to another disk.
Then perform a 'Repair disk'. Repairing a catalog file or bitmap might cause loss of files, that's why I recommend to verify first and save the files, before repairing.

  • Hello, my 2012 MacBook pro makes a clicking noise

Hello, my 2012 MacBook pro makes a clicking noise in the bottom right of my computer. The empty space below the keyboard where you are supposed to rest your hands. I press it and it sounds like something is snapping almost.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

Possibly the hard drive is failing. Make a backup ASAP.
